Darn, Rocko! Your descriptive posts here almost makes me want to change my vote but certainly to spend more time with LT. ;D And yes, I was right there when LT was first released and I liked it a ton more than Speed of Sound. I still like several songs from it but now I have this huge urge to play it LOUD!. The Mrs. will thank you, Rocko, as I keep her up tonight while I jam to "Morse Moose" after she goes to bed! "What is that racket!" she'll yell from the top of our stairs. "It's Morse Moose and he's calling me!", I'll reply! Priceless!

You’re a hard man Joey, giving Rocko wee tests…lol Well the concept for London Town, having a quick look at the album, the theme would be Journey/travel/travelogue (is a record of the events, sights and personal feelings which a traveller in our case Paul experiences as he journeys from place to place) The title song “London Town” is about travel/journey, starting point of your journey say.... The next song Café, would be like your first stop on your journey, Frenchmen & Germans get mentioned... I’m Carrying is a return maybe from a trip/journey, like you’ve got a gift to give someone upon returning (isn’t it related to Linda’s pregnancy?) Backwards Traveller is relating also to time on your journey eg. “Hey did you know that I’m always going back in time” Children Children – You are letting your children know, not to journey or travel to far from your parents/home? Girlfriend – The only journey here in this song, is to mention to your ex-girl about a new relationship I’ve Had Enough – You’ve had a enough of a certain person in your relationship, and you’ve left him/her on your journey With A Little Luck – Is about love & Romance on your travel journey, and will the relationship work out Deliver Your Children – lol, relating to having children on your journey Name & Address – You have a parcel? To be delivered on your journey (Elvis?) Don’t Let It Bring You Down – illness or problems your having on your journey Morse Moose – Is a about a boat that went out to sea, sank on the journey, Morse code at the end of the song letting you communicate to others for help Shocking theory, but at least I gave it a go...lol An A for imagination and execution--I still ain't buying it, but loved reading it. BTW, I have long thought "I'm Carrying" was based on the drug slang of "I have drugs on my person." If someone said simply "I'm carrying," it meant they had it with them. Given the McCartneys' fondness for weed, it fits perfectly. Which, in a way, could be another "trip" they were going to take... JcS

If you listen to the lyrics of I'M CARRYING, Paul's talking about visiting his girl "with my carnation hidden by the packages". I think what he's "carrying" is a simple gift, or gifts. Maybe flowers. "I'm carrying something for you", "I've got a present". I really don't think it's any more complicated or cryptic than that, personally.

Even thou my No.1 favourite Wings is V& M's, with my Mrs its LT she's obsessed with *Deliver Your Children*, *Famous Groupies*, and Morse Moose..... She's funny sometimes at party's, whenever someone is not acting like he/she should be.... She will outright tell them..lol *Well if it ain't *Morse Moose & The Gray Goose*..... ;D

You are probably right JoeK but Joey's theory is way more fun. In fact, if Macca himself read Joey's post, the ever-calculating Paul would probably think, "Hmm, JoeK is right but Joey's theory might be more appealing to the college kids who, as a whole, are still smoking reefer like crazy and this may make me vital, hip, cool with them." Next RS interview we learn from Paul that "I'm Carrying" was about Paul's 70's habit of carrying grass on him! Thus another Macca urban legend is born! ;D

JcS An *A* and you loved reading it, thx Joey, I thought I was going to get a *D*...lol But your still a hard marker, and you won't buy it, oh well... Anyway, to me most of the Wings albums from BOTR to BTTE were concept-ish..... BOTR, is about Escape (reprise like pepper)
V & M, Love songs, and Love (reprise like pepper)
LT, Journey, Travelogue
BTTE (pseudo-concept, as one reviewer called it), All about Communication, or the Power of Radio 1986 - Interview by McCartney
With BTTE, McCartney went on to explain that the album was intended as a "concept" piece, but ended up being more of a "bombept" effort (he went on saying later, that he did like a few of the songs on the album?)

Aw come on! If we're gonna vote can we be honest? What list of the best gazillion records of all time has London Town ever been on? The is fairly average McCartney, no? But its a close vote with one of the universalyy acclaimed top 10 or top 50 albums ever? Really? Really? Feh.
By the way, I voted for POB. It moves me. Morse Moose, not so much.

BTTE (pseudo-concept, as one reviewer called it), All about Communication, or the Power of Radio
Yeah, I ain't buyin' those, either. What would "Let Me Roll It" or "No Words" or "Mamunia" have to do with a concept of escaping? "Let Me Roll It" is about capture--"my heart is like a wheel, let me roll it to you." Love songs on V&M? Well, yeah, a few, but "Rock Show," "Magneto," "Medicine Jar" aren't part of that motif. I've expounded before on the missed concept album McCartney had at his disposal for BTTE. I'll post it here again: The concept is a concert presentation: Start off with "We're Open Tonight" (get it, the OPENING track?), then welcome the crowd with "So Glad To See You Here." Do three rockers or so (you name 'em, I just jotted down "To You," "Getting Closer" and Old Siam Sir) and then close out the side with "Arrow Through Me." If "Rockestra Theme" is a must, plug it in to lead off the second side, then "Spin It On" and "Again & Again & Again". About that time, a lady has her gentleman make a request ("Baby's Request") which is "Daytime, Nighttime Suffering." Then the band has to say "Goodnight, Tonight." It carries the "concept" farther than either V&M or SGT. PEPPER. JcS

I'm with you anyone! The LT votes almost seem like protest votes against JL/POB. Hey, good art can evoke hatred as well as praise. The last time I played LT at home I actually fell asleep at the computer with it playing. It did better with me when I subsequently played it in the car on a road trip but still, I've never snoozed when POB was playing! ;D

The criteria people use when they vote are up to them. I would far rather listen to LT than JLPOB - the former is cheerful, the latter depresses me. But my personal assessment of these two sides is that JLPOB outclasses LT by a sizeable margin - others may assess on different bases, and more power to their elbows, I says.

I agree with Vectis that LT 2 contains dross, but if I use the criteria "which side would I rather play from start to finish," it wins over the whiny POB 1 every time. Except ... for me ... when I am in a whiny mood myself, feeling lower than usual, and feel not so great about the world and things about me. At times like THOSE, POB is a rather soothing tonic with one who understands me. "What good is art when it hurts your head"? Well, when my head does hurt I prefer to listen to something like Lennon's POB. Doesn't hurt at all, actually; feels mighty nice!

Perfect Vectis, couldn't agree with ya more.... Plus the tourney is about album sides (LT-2 v POB-1, and not LT v POB) I love how some of the posties here use values out of 10 or star (*) rating's, for each song, then give an overall totall at the end..
