[ I can't tell a difference, except that it is mono. And that sucks. Not into how the music sounds then, deborgo? McCabe

Probably not worth the big money. But I can recommend the mono RAM. Beg, borrow, or steal it. You know what they say: stereo RAM is a pop album, but mono RAM is a rock album. McCabe I'm going to intervene here. I know Joe was already burned on this whole mono RAM thing. I can't tell a difference, except that it is mono. And that sucks. That's about the size of it. I bought the special vinyl release of the Mono RAM and I could discern no real differences in the tracks at all. A huge disappointment.

The mono Sgt Pepper was cool. There was actually some difference in the mix. I still prefer the stereo version but I liked hearing the differences in the mix.

Not when it sounds just like the stereo version, except it's mono. You do understand that the tracks were mixed separately into mono, yes? The mono LP is not merely a fold-down of the stereo. There are plenty of differences throughout the LP, but I admit some are a little subtle ... like some longer tracks, stronger bass, more prominent vocals, etc etc. At the very least, if you don't find the mono mix punchier, you should look to upgrading your gear ... no earbuds, or car stereos y'know! What, were there pretend differences? ;D McCabe re·al [ree-uhl, reel] adjective 1. true; not merely ostensible, nominal, or apparent: the real reason for an act. Let me make it more clear for you then -- if there were any differences in the mix, they were so subtle as to be irrelevant. And regarding your comments about "no ear buds or car stereos" ... I don't wear ear buds. As for the car stereo, sorry if you still can't comprehend this, but my car stereo system sounds terrific and you aren't in my car so you cannot comment on the sound. But the main point this time is, I said I listened to the NEW VINYL RELEASE. That's right -- VINYL. Not ear buds, not on a CD in my car -- but a vinyl record at home in the house, in a brand new 2012 "improved" edition... right on my home stereo system. You know something? Whether it be in my car, through ear buds, or on a vinyl record on my turntable, I have always easily heard any slight or subtle change in sound when it comes to all sorts of things in music, or the audio sound of a film... I hear all sorts of subtle things that most other people cannot pick up on. But this "Mono RAM" everyone raves about? Dream On. At any rate, welcome back -- I hope you've finally found God while you were gone. Of course He was always right there and obvious all the time.

He had me on the ear buds and car stereo.

McCabe I'll have you know that I fully expected you to harken back to my "deep and original thinker" remark, even as I wrote my new comment there. And you know what? You did! You are so predictable, McCabe -- too bad you're not deep nor original! ;D Sorry, but it's always been true. As Ringo once sang: "You Don't Know Me At All", but if you did off this forum, you would see how deep and original I am. All my friends, loved ones, and acquaintances do.

Am i the only one that gets a vicarious kick when verbal heavyweights like Joe Karlosi and McCabe start facing off? As we say on the streets, "Lets you and him fight."

Hard to keep track without a scorecard.
Myself, I can only keep a feud going for a couple of days. Not because Im so forgiving but my memory is so bad I cant remember what im feuding about.

Thanks for posting that. I bought this for the same price a few months ago from the same site. That is a decent price for a very heavy boxset! Ram is the anchor of The JSD Postulate. I am kind of sorry now I led the way in rehabilitating Paul's first four solo albums as it was not reciprocated for John, even the sacred POB and Imagine albums get attacked here.

I'm quite happy to attack JLPOB, McCartney and WWL. I don't enjoy any of them apart from odds and ends, and they all fall far short of what I had hoped for from their creators.

My advice--take each track separately insteady of looking them as the McCartney LP, JLPB&J album (I'm hungry) or WWL. You will find a lot more to enjoy and less to criticize.

I'm not criticising (except for WWL which I think is poor quality as well as short weight), I'm saying I don't care for them very much as records because I hoped their creators would produce material which I preferred. I know which tracks I like and which I don't and, while I appreciate the thought behind the advice, I don't think listening to the individual tracks - again - is going to change opinions which I have held for 40 years.

Just stumbled on Uncle Albert Jam and Eat at Home/Smile Away Live on iTunes.
Uncle Albert Jam is a sort of scat version of UA with Back Seat sampled and a hint of Carson's Tonight Show theme.
Eat at Home/Smile Away is Wings jamming on both songs live at Groningen in 1972.

Beware My Love with John Bonham is on iTunes. You have to search John Bonham. I almost bought it, even though I have it coming next month.
I couldn't find anything on youtube.
