Paul made sure to tell Dhani not to take a guitar on stage because he didn't want him to sneak in any guitar licks like his dad wanted to!

Wow, Julian Lennon is making headlines for "snubbing" and/or "slamming" the CBS Tribute Special going so far as to call it a "Beatles karaoke session!" Here is a representative article: wbco.com/news/030030-julian-lennon-snubbed-beatles-tribute-as-celebrity-karaoke/But there are many more: news.google.com/news?ncl=d0n6xXmMAHycfhMnGjU5CCl5VCN-M&q=julian+lennon&lr=English&hl=en&sa=X&ei=CPAEU_mFGaa6yQGui4CgCg&ved=0CDAQqgIwAgOther comments I have read by Julian suggest that he was not invited to perform onstage although he was absolutely invited to the event with a front row seat. Jules perhaps wanted a spotlight performance slot, it is hard to say. Dhani played with Jeff Lynne and Joe Walsh but was very laid back, very sincere Paul McCartney is now the patriarch of the extended "Beatles Family." I call upon Sir Paul McCartney to heal this seemingly open and hot rift with Julian which apparently started when Jules was snubbed for Paul and Nancy's wedding! Sir Paul you must be a leader and show Julian that he is loved within the Beatles extended family! We fans cannot allow this Beatles civil war to continue unabated! We need to collectively call upon Macca to be a healer, a reconciler and bring Julian back into the family fold!

Other comments I have read by Julian suggest that he was not invited to perform onstage although he was absolutely invited to the event with a front row seat. I keep hoping that one day Julian will quit crying in his beer over his lot in life as it pertains to The Beatles. I think if he was invited for a front row seat he should have taken it. Jules is still coming across as bitter, yet now he's a nearly-51-year-old bitter old man. Hey Jude, don't make it bad -- take a sad song and make it better.

I agree Joe and this is why "Uncle Paul" needs to step in and administer some tough love to Julian but love nonetheless. Paul though tends to forever write-off and isolate those who challenge him publicly and Julian saying that Paul and Ringo's reunion was a "Beatles karaoke session" is a monster slam, a "How Do You Sleep?" kind of slam. Well, I guess Julian is John's son!

John, if you haven't figured it out by now, there's so much b.s. in these celebrity stories. A writer, especially young gossip writers, will take things out of context and bend it whatever way they want. It's why the news media these days is a little less trustworthy than used car dealers.

Steve is right. Those articles look like BS. Julian is a 50 year old man, not some little kid. If he wanted to come to celebrate his father's band in America, he has the money and the choice to do so. Paul doesn' t owe him or any other son of the Fabs anything. He isn' t any patriarch of the greater Beatle family. He chose not to come. Sean and Dhani did, and I am sure Dhani did not need to ask Paul permission to play on his dad's song. It' s nice that Yoko and Olivia get on well and most Beatle business seems to get done with little animosity. Realistically, given Yoko' s age, when she is gone, who controls John's decisions on Beatles business? Sean and Julian 50-50? THAT could be an issue. They seem to like each other, but making Beatle decisions is another matter indeed.

You bring up a good point. When Yoko passes, it will be interesting to see who controls John's legacy. I bet Sean will have control but I think that it will all depend upon what Yoko's will stipulates.

Two points. I emphasized above that Julian was making headlines and that is an absolute fact as shown by my link to Google News: Julian Lennon. I agree the articles are rubbishy but still internet headlines drawing attention to this new bad blood in Beatles world. Second, "Beatles karaoke session" is a real Julian quote about the CBS Special anchored by Paul and Ringo. OUCH! Major burn on Paul and Ringo! Score one for Julian. The absolute worst slam on a musician is telling him/her that their performance was "karaoke," no better than drunk people singing at the bar! Yikes, I bet Paul and Ringo are seething!

Julian saying that Paul and Ringo's reunion was a "Beatles karaoke session" is a monster slam, a "How Do You Sleep?" kind of slam. If Julian actually said it, I don't think Paul or Ringo are "seething" over it (as you suggested). That is, if they even heard about it. And the "karaoke session" remark was likely intended for the other bands who paid their tributes, not Paul and Ringo themselves. Careful there, Johnny -- you are getting carried away again with your over-scandalous views of things!

I think it's natural for John's son to be a little put off by the idea that Paul and Ringo can enact a Beatles reunion without John and George. As if you can have the Beatles without having John (or George). For him to label that Karaoke means he thinks it's not the real thing, if he was even referring to the Paul and Ringo part of the show. and while I enjoyed the show, a lot, I have reservations of this quasi- Beatles reunion hype.

Agreed. I also had a lot of fun watching it twice but I was relieved at the very end when Ringo mentioned John and George who hadn't been mentioned since the very beginning of the show by that quasi-Rapper dude. Paul then joined in but I wondered if he would have said anything if not prompted by Ringo? It was great seeing Paul and Ringo play together but they ain't The Beatles and I think they know it thus their reluctance to play together very often. Sean seemed to have a great attitude. He was there in the front row, clapping, smiling, sometimes leading standing ovations, filming some of it(while our sayne was in a brawl with security for even having his camera in his pocket! ) and just enjoying it with his Mother. I thought that was a class act performance by Sean. Dhani was awesome, actually performing onstage but in his uusual stately and unobtrusive way, just a son who really, really loved his Dad. Man, I guess I am scratching my head now at Julian's reluctance to come and have some fun and salute his Dad and the other guys. I still say he is pissed that he wasn't offered a spotlight performance to help him jumpstart his stalled career. Now that would be the wrong reason to go!

Great set of stories shown on CBS Sunday Morning in the USA on Feb. 9, 2014 celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Beatles On The Ed Sullivan Show including interviews with famous musicians of the 60's The Beatles inspired.

When was the last time you saw John carrying his own guitar case to a rehearsal (Deauville Hotel, Miami) as late as 1964? Word is; that John is carrying a Fender-style tweed oblong case. Probably the new Ricky, which was delivered to him here in Miami, and first used for the broadcast.

John, noticing your sig reminds me of an interview with Paul I just got from iTunes. It's called "Paul McCartney Interviewed by Johnny Black." He talks a little about the whole Lennon-McCartney name thing. I may write about it. I know it would tick you off, though.

Since the 50th Anniversary of Beatles in America ingloriously fizzled out in a wimper, we need bold and controversial topics to get our Beatle Blood pumping again least we all fall under the spell of Katy Perry or Miley Cyrus!

For anyone who would be interested, this past week John B Wells had a Beatles week on his show Caravan to Midnight since it's the 50th anniversary of Ed Sullivan. He interviewed Harvey Kubemik, Ken Scott and Elliot Mintz. He also had David Leaf US vs. John Lennon.
