The soundtrack to the Destiny game has been available on iTunes and Amazon, as a digital download only, for a few weeks now. Am I right in speculating that I am the only one who has bought it?
It’s a big album, forty four tracks clocking in at almost two and a half hours. Despite its length, the song Hope does not feature, for some unknown reason. I must admit that I have only listened to portions of the set so far, but what I have heard has been very impressive. The music is a fusion of orchestral, choral, ambient and rock elements. Therefore, it’s probably not going to be to everybody’s taste, but I sometimes like to listen to those sort of things as an occasional diversion.
Some of the tracks are listed as being excerpts from longer pieces not featured in their entirety on the album. For example, there is an Excerpt From The Rose, an Excerpt From The Tribulation and others. This leads me to point out that there was supposed to be another, shorter, album release associated with the Destiny game, entitled Music Of The Spheres. It was to feature these longer works and be released before the game itself. It has not appeared.
I am left wondering if it ever will and whether its non-appearance, plus the delayed release of Paul’s Hope, is related. The person I assume is the main composer of the Destiny soundtrack, Martin O’Donnell, was fired by Bungie, his employer and owner of the game, a couple of months before its release. I wonder if there are legal proceedings happening behind the scenes that we don’t know about and are the reason for this disappointing mess?

With reference concerning the extent of Paul's involvement in the composition of this opus, the song writing credits for the original soundtrack album at iTunes simply list the same four people for every track. That is, O'Donnell, McCartney and two others. So, there is no indication of Paul's share. I will say, however, that I have recently visited the ASCAP website and numerous registrations from the set and Music Of The Spheres are present under Paul's name.

I accept that there is very little interest in this release from board members, but I just want to ramble on bit more to put a few points on the record.
First, the album is seriously overlong and the overall quality suffers because of it. No doubt the compilers have included the audio associated with each stage of the game (minus Hope) for completeness. However, as a listening experience, a shorter set would have been vastly superior, IMO.
Therefore, I’ve burned my own concise one disc version of the Destiny soundtrack, incorporating what I feel to be the better pieces. It results in 15 tracks at 53 minutes:
The Traveller Excerpt From The Ecstasy The Last Array Sepik’s Prime Excerpt From The Ruin Untold Legends Cabal Stomp Dust Giants Ishtar Sink Eye Of The Gate Lord The Hive End Of The Line Excerpt 2 From The Rose Excerpt From The Union All Ends Are Beginnings
Plenty of orchestral fireworks here. I wonder how much of the above is Paul’s work? Untold Legends, The Hive and The Last Array are the standout tracks for me. You might want to check them out sometime.

Wait a minute KC, you said Paul's song "Hope" is not even on this Destiny Original Soundtrack?!
But Paul is a co-writer of the rest of the music? I indeed have not been following this very closely because I HATE gaming and most that goes with it.

Thanks backseat. Can you say where your information is from? Do you know anything about Music Of The Spheres? Regards, kc. Your welcome. I can't say much, but I think they did not have a release date for Music of the Spheres yet. "Hope" should come as the first product from this collaboration between McCartney, Salvatori and O'Donnell.

I just saw an ad for Destiny. They used Zeppelin's Immigrant Song to sell it.

One of my curses is that I'm pretty good with grammar. Thus, I get a bit annoyed when I hear bad grammar in songs. At the 2:37 mark, Paul sings ". . . you and I" when he should sing " . . . you and me." Very irksome! Lots of people make the same mistake when speaking or writing. In songs, I don't care if one is trying to make a rhyme. Rewrite the darn line! Seeing Paul move made me wonder when the girls in Ever Present Past were going to come in. Nice song, though. Don't see it as a hit or anything.

I just picked up the 5 song EP of Hope for the Future. It's all the same song, just very different mixes. Yeah, I bought it as well. There was only one mix I didn't like, but I've forgotten which one it was!

Looks like "Hope for the Future" reached as high as #44 on Billboards Rock Tracks chart. On the U.S. ITunes singles chart, it got all the way up to #52. Oh boy! I don't think I've ever seen a release by Paul die a faster death.
