Now "Hey Jude" is pimped out like a worn out whore. Not really. Paul's concert tickets are expensive!

I whole heartedly agree that the song has been played to death, but it was complete magic for me to sing along with it at MSG in December of 1989, for the first few times performed by any Beatle anywhere live...so I suppose I wouldn't want to ruin it for anyone else even though he has now played it live 96,712 times.

Now "Hey Jude" is pimped out like a worn out whore. Not really. Paul's concert tickets are expensive! I guess people want to hear "Hey Jude" live. I agree with JoeK that there are still a lot of people seeing their first McCartney concert who would feel cheated not hearing HJ. I begrudgingly get that but I have been to enough where I go buy a beer or go to the bathroom during Hey Jude! I did enjoy "Hey Jude" on the 2002 Tour because Heather Mills accompanied Paul to every concert and both in Chicago and Indianapolis where I saw Paul, during the singalong part of "Hey Jude" the camera for the large video monitors would zoom in on Heather and every time she was busy talking or texting on her cellphone(probably to her real lover) and her sister Fiona would nudge her that she was on the stadium's video monitors and she'd suddenly start swaying and singing and acting engaged! Where I kind of disagree with Joe is that at the Macca concerts I have been to, including last year's, I mostly see aging, middle to upper-class white people like myself (middle class for me!)and not so many young people like teenagers and college kids unless they are with their parents! I don't see groups of them sitting together. How could they otherwise afford it?! Alas, we are stuck with "Hey Jude" live and it now bores me to death.

I don't see groups of them sitting together. How could they otherwise afford it?! Even if they're going with their parents, it's not as though they're dragged there... sure, there will be times when mom or dad tries to indoctrinate their kids... but more likely, they've begged their parents to take them. I don't know what concerts you're going to, JSD, but the ones I've been to always have excited young fans. And even disregarding our own concert experiences, you can see this any time we see footage of Paul's shows and gatherings. I have presented many YouTube videos here before as well, showing how many young collectors in their Beatles-decorated rooms love Paul and The Fabs!

I really have no idea what the topic of the thread is about. Are we discussing the rift between J&P, reviewing what Paul should sing when he tours, how the Beatles developed their music through their single releases or something to do with Anthology?
