I still remember my dad coming home from work with The New York Post ( my mother loved to read that rag at night) and saying to me "Looks like The Beatles broke up, it says here Paul McCartney is quitting the band." I was 15 years old. I just stared at the article in the paper in disbelief. I thought the single "Uncle Albert" was their last song. It only had Paul's name on the '45, but I swear I could hear the others on the recording. We all thought it would just be a brief break up. How could the biggest band in the world just break up? Abbey Road sounded so good, it couldn't be permanent.... That was 45 years ago....

Ringo was seriously Thomas the Tanked during the 1980s
It certainly didn't go unnoticed by British satire on TV either.
He probably made a tidy sum from all those Thomas the Tank Engine Stories he narrated back then. Even though it's been updated and made with CGI these days the kids still prefer the originals made with real models and the Beatles drummer telling the story.

Funny and cruel at the same time.
We are lucky Ringo managed to get his act back together, otherwise we probably would have missed out on the good work he has presented us with since. I generally find more to enjoy from his output from 1992 onwards than previous to that date. There are a few obvious exceptions, of course. Credit to Ringo for overcoming what has destroyed many a life.

How is he "admitting" something when it's been common knowledge for 25 years or more?
Cheap journalism.
