Paul is doing a concert in Liverpool on May 28. This is happening the next night in Liverpool; Now here is the chance for Paul to join his old Quarrymen mates in the church hall, where he first met John, for some jamming on their old hits from 1957. What a night that could/would be... Can only hope Paul is up for it.... I'll be in Florence, Italy that week. Really tempting to book a flight to Liverpool and grab a ticket (30 Pounds) to the Quarrymen concert....just in case. If Paul showed up; "That would be something, it really would be something".... Do it Paul...

Paul almost certainly is aware of this. That would give him more publicity than a hundred talk show appearances.
It would also be very cool!

Shhhhh! I remember the last time Ringo played in Liverpool and Paul was actually at LIPA a few blocks away. Now I have no proof but I believe Paul may have agreed to appear perhaps at the end of the show. That is until the press got hold of Paul and he became rather grumpy about being asked if he was going meet up and play with his old band mate.
I dare say Ringo and Paul probably did meet up somewhere after the show. But once confronted by the press there was no way it was going to happen in public.

So what should the set list be for The Quarrymen if Paul shows up to play?
How about "Twenty Flight Rock" - the song Paul played for John in the church hall that impressed him enough to ask him to join the band.
"Come Go With Me" - with John's colorful lyric "Down, down, down to the Penitentiary." Paul especially liked that lyric.
"Rock Island Line"
"All Shook Up"
"Blue Moon"
"Peggy Sue"
"Heartbreak Hotel"
"Hound Dog"
"Don't Be Cruel"
"Lucille"
"Here Today"

Good list lowbasso. They would have to do "Long Lost John" just as John himself did("Lennon Anthology") and the Quarrymen did on their album of the same name.

You never know; it would be kind of cool. Paul could also just meet up with them in private, afterwards.
Paul is getting to the age now where these kinds of things are at the "last chance to happen" stage. I do hope he is aware of that.

Paul might think he's a bit above the Quarrymen, he' a global superstud and the Quarrymen are, well, still the Quarrymen.

I agree and Paul has some precedent of seeing members of the old gang even if briefly. When I saw Paul at his first of two Chicago concerts in April of 2002, he announced to the audience that huckster Louise Harrison was in the audience and I later read that he had met her briefly before the show. If Paul would meet someone whose own brother largely ignored her the second half of his life, why not go meet guys he once played with and convinced John to fire!

Paul did just recently acknowledge Pete Best as "good". Of course it was to stress how much better Ringo was. But still, who'da thunk he would even mention Pete and a nice adjective in the same sentence... Most of the Quarrymen were not all that serious about becoming professional musicians. Paul was just stating the obvious to John that they needed people who were serious about playing and committing to get better. Upon being let go out of The Quarrymen back in the 50's, none of them ever went on to be professional musicians. At least not until they reformed the band decades later. And I still think they do not kid themselves that they are all that polished as musicians. My guess is they would love the idea of Paul showing up at the church and joining in for a few numbers for nostalgia sake. And as a tribute to John. The press would eat it up. And Paul loves good Press.....

Very true, most of the guys accepted their fate of being cut although Len Garry had to leave because of tubercular meningitis and was hospitalized for months. In his book(which he signed for me at a Fest), he has convinced himself that he alone of the other Quarrymen(besides John, Paul and George) could have become a Beatle if only he hadn't gotten sick. John, Paul, George, Ringo & Len just doesn't have the same ring!
