Thanks Mike! I knew someone would ask and I know that he didn't do it on the U.S. 2005 show as I saw two concerts on that tour. I just remembered YouTube videos of Paul doing ATMP at concerts beside TCFG. I guess Paul saw it as a Harrison/McCartney composition.

I am guessing the whole concert was sublime but that had to be the toppermost of the poppermost of sublime! That to me is Paul's finest moment live because he almost looks nervous at the start but he powers forward and picks up steam out of love for George. It was an amazing few minutes and I think it is cool that you witnessed it live.

I think Paul was going through a lot that evening: George's death, normal stage nervousness, playing with George's closest friends, not being familiar with the song, the magnitude of the evening, etc. I think for everyone, what should have been a celebration of George was weighed down by people's missing of him. Don't know if you'll recall, but when I first wrote about it, I said that it did not feel like a rock concert. Can't blame anyone, but it could have been an Irish wake. Thank goodness we had Monty Python there.

Really?! Which tour? I've seen them all when they swung my way and don't recall ever hearing him do anything other than Something. Where was it? He did ATMP in Europe 2004 I believe.. Rusty played the slide guitar arrangement like the LP version, and Paul's phrasing was much better than at the CFG. Thanks for posting this Mike. I had never seen it. I think however, I prefer the slower tempo of the song that was done for CFG. The essence of the song is reflective and to me works better at a slower tempo. That moment at CFG when Paul played this along with Ringo up on drums, and Eric and Klaus Voorman assisting was the cathartic moment for me when I realized George was now really gone and it seemed to also cleanse away for me the sadness of all the infighting and petty egotistic jealousies that infected the Beatles from about 1968 on through until John's passing that prevented them from ever working together again after the breakup. I totally lost it in the movie theatre at that moment when I first saw the CFG film. Didn't know Paul had ever performed it again. Good for him. Bring it back often.
