Fabfour's thread on the performance of Rubber Soul and Revolver gave me the idea of creating this thread.
Which two consecutive Beatles' albums do you think were the best back-to-back albums. For this, you may leave out Yellow Submarine.
Also, what about the solo albums? I think Paul's might be the hardest, for he had strong back-to-back pairs in the 70s and also in the 2000s.

The Beatles: Rubber Soul and Revolver. I could have gone Revolver/SPLHCB but I have always been struck by George Harrison's interview during Anthology where he said that RS and R were almost interchangeable in his mind but that that was a happy period, he enjoyed the process of making both albums. All four Beatles were still highly engaged in the process and all were relatively still happy being Beatles as they pushed the barriers of studio work and songwriting.
John Lennon: POB/Imagine. That seems conventional but I like other combos, I could say W&B/DF though separated by six years and a million miles in John's head.
Paul McCartney: Ram/Wings Wild Life. Can Paul be any cooler!? Any funkier and rock harder?!
George Harrison: ATMP/LITMW. I skipped Bangladesh but it isn't a George studio album of all new material. 33 1/3/George Harrison get a nod, it was great to have George back with well-crafted songs even if these albums seemed out of place at the time in the mid to late 1970's. But today they sound great when what were the hits back then now sound dated.
Ringo Starr: CW would say RINGO/Goodnight Vienna but I actually think Time Takes Time/Vertical Man was a pretty awesome pair!

For Paul, I thought Electric Arguments followed the brilliant Chaos And Creation In The Backyard of 2005 but it was released November 2008 and MAF was released in 2007. I like MAF a lot but Chaos and EA are brilliant but are not a pair per the criteria of this Thread.

Rubber Soul/Revolver followed by White Album/Abbey Road Back To The Egg/McCartney II Plastic Ono Band/Imagine Dark Horse/33 1/3 (If it was allowed I'd have Wilbury 1 and 3) Ringo/Goodnight Vienna (unfortunately I've never heard Time Takes Time or Vertical Man)

Beatles: Rubber Soul/Revolver, though The Beatles/Abbey Road is also extremely impressive, as is Revolver/Sgt. Pepper.
Lennon: John Lennon-Plastic Ono Band/Imagine, of course.
McCartney: Electric Arguments/New, or Band On The Run/Venus And Mars, or Flaming Pie/Run Devil Run. This one isn’t easy.
Harrison: All Things Must Pass/Living In The Material World, but only because I rate ATMP as probably the greatest solo Beatles’ album. I’m not so in love with LITMW. I thought an alternative might be Cloud Nine/Brainwashed.
Starr: Time Takes Time/Vertical Man.

Yes but Extra Texture spoils your George pair Nine! Doh! You're right. How did I miss that? I consider Extra Texture George's weakest album. I listened to Material World when I was much younger (late teens, early 20s) but it never grabbed my attention. I've been meaning to give it a go since I've read John Damn's comments on it but am yet to do so. I'd say ATMP and Material World for George's back to back then... or maybe 33 1/3 and George Harrison.
