And meanwhile, there have been people Ringo has told to "F--- Off" when they ask him for an autograph, or - in one case from a person I know - merely asked him "Are you Ringo?" when he was spotted at an airport. "Peace And Luv" my foot!
Some people might wish to "take a stand against hate" by boycotting the grumpy Ringo in concert anywhere.

But Joe, Ringo is grumpy to all: straight, lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual and queer!
He is admirably protesting a draconian law that discriminates against some.

But Joe, Ringo is grumpy to all: straight, lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual and queer! In another words, he hates just as he claims others do. I think there's a possibility that some pervert(s) would dress as women and claim to be transgender, just to get into women's public restrooms (I have heard other commentators concerned about the same thing). Not a good idea there at all.

Ringo was brave to cancel his North Carolina concert. He may lose fans over that, both those who disagree with him and those who are inconvenienced by the actual cancellation, the ones who may have taken time off work, reserved hotel rooms, etc.
Think of the folks who bought front row seats from ticket brokers(scalpers). They will only get the face-value of the tickets back! I guess that is the risk one takes.
When it comes to injustice, even us fans must sacrifice.

Not a good idea there at all. As opposed to doing the same thing, pretending to be a woman? Not sure what you mean, as we seem to be on the same page. But there are men (I know of one in a Unitarian church where my girlfriend leads her choir) who consider themselves women yet are still hetero. This particular individual we know is hetero and has a girlfriend, but just wears dresses and identifies as female (or lesbian, I guess). You easily can see that she is basically a man dressing up. Under such a law, a man can slip on a dress and enter the ladies' public restroom, if he identifies as a woman. I don't think that is fair to women who would feel uncomfortable and violated, and I am sort of surprised more women aren't speaking out about it (though I can understand too, since they would be branded "haters") .

Ringo was brave to cancel his North Carolina concert. In my view, there is nothing "brave" about towing a PC Line and taking a popular stand that would put you in a good light to others. Now, what would truly be brave IMO would be someone who refused to cancel a show and did not condemn such a law. Why, just look at this message board for instance... is anyone else saying he/she thought Ringo was wrong for cancelling the show? No ... that would be un-PC. I'm sure there are some people who agree with me ... but they do it silently to themselves and don't dare admit it publicly for fear of being branded all sorts of truly hateful names, and having their reputations destroyed. That is the real danger of these times. It's an injustice screwing fans like that, who are innocent bystanders amidst all the controversy, and who just want to see Ringo in concert. I guess Ringo "hates" them. (Note smiley face... just trying to show how absurdly that word is tossed about).

Well I applaud Ringo for taking a stand that will cost him money out of his pocket. Your State of New York does not have such a draconian law so you can safely see and enjoy a Ringo and The All-Starrs concert! I may be in trouble because Indiana adopted in March 2015, a so-called Freedom of Religion law that would allow civil protection to those who want to discriminate against the LGTBQ community in the name of religion. I suspect that is why Springsteen did not schedule a concert in Indiana for his The River 2016 Tour although it could also be that he only sold 70% of his tickets when last in Indy in 2008(which I attended) in what was the very last time Danny Federici took the stage with the E Street Band for just a couple of songs, ravaged by cancer. He died a couple weeks later. I think true Ringo fans will understand and support him. To get angry with Ringo over this should lead one to look up the definitions of "Peace and Love!"

I think there's a possibility that some pervert(s) would dress as women and claim to be transgender, just to get into women's public restrooms (I have heard other commentators concerned about the same thing). Not a good idea there at all. [/quote] It's interesting how people will look to an extreme example to "critically" knock down a policy or viewpoint. They see one person in the store using food stamps to buy candy or beer or whatever and use that to say that welfare should be gotten rid of. Someone who lost a job blames the President's policies for the state of the economy. They see one bad Rolling Stones show back in the 80s and swear off them forever. They see a bad Macca performance on TV and merciless argue that he should pack it up. The "possibility" of a pervert using this as his chance to geek at women in restrooms is an example of using an extreme example to characterize an issue. It's also a severe misunderstanding of what it really means to "identify" as a woman. It is no casual dalliance. You just don't wake up and say "I'm going to dress like a woman today." It's not about clothing. It's about a real construct of self. Legislative and social issues that are uncomfortable to us "normal" people, are major issues of worth to others.

Yeah, "people" are funny, aren't they? I think there are waayyy more than one person using food stamps for beer (or whatever example you want to give), and far more people that abuse the welfare system. There are many bums who can work but choose not to, for example. Disability fraud is rampant. But that doesn't mean that I am for discontinuing welfare or disability for those who really need it.. It's interesting that you view the chance of a pervert taking advantage of the restroom situation to gawk (or worse) at women as "an extreme example"... but how do you know it would be extreme? And even if it only occurred once or of a handful of times, would you want to be the woman/women victimized in such a case... would you feel it was just as "extreme" or trivial if it was someone you knew and cared about? I have had the same job for 21 years... haven't lost it, and don't require Obamacare... and yet I think both the economy and Obamacare stink anyway, and that it's his fault.. PS - Since you're referencing me with the Stones... The Rolling Stones' music and albums have sucked too for a long time, it's not just about their lousy show in the 80s that I saw. I have seen enough clips of them to feel I don't like them live very much in the last several decades. PPS -- Regarding Paul sounding bad at one TV venue or so, and thus wanting him to "pack it in", at least in my case I have come to re-consider, and have noted that he has done better subsequently (I can't say the same for some other fans' opinions though). Now it's getting deeper here. But while I fully understand that people are "born that way", there is also a lot more experimentation now than ever, too. ("I Kissed A Girl And I Liked It" -- was that a Katy Perry song?). Funny how Bruce Jenner decided so late in life to take another road. And yes, from what I understand there are heterosexual males who are completely interested in women, but who do simply fancy wearing ladies' clothing.

This wiseguy says Ringo is just trying to be relevant with his NC boycott and even claims Ringo should boycott the song "Get Back" because it is discriminating against LGTB!! freebeacon.com/blog/ringo-starr-offended-lyrics-get-back/I thought "Get Back" was supportive of LGTB as were all Beatles songs!

This wiseguy says Ringo is just trying to be relevant with his NC boycott Then yes, this guy is very wise. Because that is all Ringo is doing. I can't recall the last time he had so much press. (I also like the way his article just breaks it down to basics: "Ringo is is feeling put out by the so-called bathroom bill banning men from women’s rooms"). LOL! I just read the article, and it's a good point! I always figured that Paul was just having fun with any old silly lyrics. Remember when Paul was first forming the song GET BACK on all those sessions tapes? He was singing something about "Don't want no Pakistanis taking all the people's jobs -- get back to where you once belonged!"

Ouch! Ringo gets slammed again in this article: www.frontpagemag.com/point/262521/ringo-starr-still-alive-and-boycotting-north-daniel-greenfieldThe writer pretends that he didn't know Ringo was still alive. Come on, I don't believe that for a second and the writer gets vicious saying Ringo sympathizes with rapists because he played one in "Blindman" and his character in "Caveman" tries to rape the female lead(Barbara Bach). And no this NC law is not about letting "Men use the women's bathrooms." It is to allow transgenders to feel comfortable and in fact fit in. If I felt I was a woman in a man's body and lived as a woman, I would be doing all a favor using the women's bathrooms. Women's bathrooms have private stalls anyway. Imagine if I was in a dress and tried to use the men's bathroom, straddling up to the urinals with other dudes! Even though I have a man's junk, I would feel terribly out of place and I assure you the other men in the bathroom would freak out and it might even get violent, urinating next to a dude in a dress! Ringo is just doing what Jesus Christ would do if here today!

Yeah, that is extremely ridiculous. But in a way, that's kinda what the hardcore left does often... like calling people "haters" or playing other "cards" because some people do either this or that, or don't think the way they want everyone to think. How was it handled before 2016? Or is this a brand new trend? I would hope that JC would not keep telling followers to "F--- Off!!" when they tried to approach him to say 'hi' .

I don't think he would shun any of them. I'm not going to say that John Lennon wasn't an ass too at times to fans, but I have also heard more than enough nice stories of people meeting a pleasant John in NYC. Way more than I have heard about Ringo. As a matter of fact, even PM (that is Paul McCartney) says Ringo was like that even back in The Beatles, and singled him out as the one who would get most pissy like that.

He may lose fans over that, both those who disagree with him and those who are inconvenienced by the actual cancellation, the ones who may have taken time off work, reserved hotel rooms, etc. I watched an online report by a commentator who suggested that perhaps the ticket buyers should be able to sue the stars for canceling the shows after they already paid their money to see them. It's a disgrace and slap in the face to the fans. What do the ticket buyers have to do with this subject? Why should they indirectly suffer as a result of Ringo and Bruce wanting to look all properly PC?
