So far I'm really enjoying the re masters but I'm not blown away like I was when I heard the LOVE CD. I Am The Walrus for instance, has so much more "umph" on LOVE. The drums are meatier and the overall sound kicks more ass. As much as I'm happy to have this remastered set, I hope there will be a day when all tracks will be remixed like what was done with I Am The Walrus, Revolution and the others that were pretty much left as intended but re EQed and made punchier.
Anyone think there will be a day?

We've read that the whole catalog has been remixed so I hazard a guess that we will hear them someday. If Apple thinks that there is money to be made, we'll get them.
I suspect that it would be for surround sound or whatever innovation in sound will exist in a couple of years.
You are right, parts of LOVE take some of the wind out of the remasters' sails and "I Am The Walrus" is the best example. I am still excited about the remasters though.
In hindsight, I wish the remasters had come out before LOVE. I still think our next purchase will be The Beatles Remixed. Let the money saving begin anew.

If Apple had decided to 'do a Yellow Submarine' on the entire back catalogue (i.e. reamster and remix all in one go) would anyone have been that offended? Are the original stereo mixes really that sacrasanct? Are they really such an integral part of the music that they couldn't be touched.
It seems to me that one regret people have in relation to the re-masters is that they didn't just do it all in one go and re-mix everything to modern standards while they were remastering.
Does anyone particularly disagree with this?
post script:
I've just been on Amazon, looking at the 1997 re-issue of 'Machine head' by Deep Purple. They have issued it as a 2-CD release with the original album re-mastered on one disc and a re-mixed / re-mastered version on the other. All the Purps fans on the Amazon reviews were really happy with this format...

I agree with it resoundingly. As you might expect.

I despised that LOVE album, I was not at all impressed with the trickery and EXTREME changes done to the music, and the segues. It was all a pointless exercise. However, I did buy the CD in order to get some of the outtakes. I even liked what MArtin did to "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" -- but it's not a double standard to me, because that slow version was never officially issued on the White Album back in the day.

Joe, I think if you heard the music as you were watching the amazing show in Vegas you wouldn't be that offended. That is why it was created.

I think that had the technology been there in EMI in the 1960's, the mixes would have been different. For instance, they would have bounced tracks a lot less or maybe never. That's what I like about the LOVE CD and the SONG TRACK CD. The tracks are separated for clarity and panned accordingly. I love how Revolution had the two guitars panned opposite on LOVE instead of on one track on the original mix. I'm sure that's how they would have been mixed today.

You want to enjoy the Beatles remixed? Take the YSS, LIBN (only songs that were strict remixes) Anthology DVD remixes and few (mainly strict remxies - not mash ups) from Love and I have now a homemade 3 CD anthology of Beatles modern remixes that's absolutely amazing to listen to. Regards, Beatle Bob

Hey JoeK, You prove my point on another thread I posted. While many like Remixes so many others don't. Many feel tampering with the Music is a No No(especially if it's the Beatles). I would buy the Remixes but I'm not sure if after hearing them once or twice the Novelty of Something New/Different would wear off. I guess just put them out and those who want to listen can and those that don't won't! I also think these threads about making an Album better(meaning adding Tracks such as SFF/Penny Lane to Pepper) have no merit for me. I am too used to these LPs the way they are and like them that way(even the lesser Tracks as there really aren't any Beatles Tracks I don't like..although there are a few I could do without).
