:DThat was cool, thanks Bob! I liked the sales info.
I do feel bad for those who bought the 21,000 Beatles c.d.'s the very week before the remasters came out! Was Jim Bob sitting at home in Wanatah, Indiana and thinking on Sept. 5, 2009, "Well Ma, there's no better time than right now, today to buy those Beatles' c.d.'s I always wanted but could never afford!"
Yes Jim Bob, there would be a better time to buy Beatles' c.d.'s and that time was 09/09/09! ;D Who would have bought those 21,000 Beatles' albums the week before the Holy Grails were available?

Well it would be sad for those that purchased say Pepper or The White Album. Don't forget that Love,The Anthology's,Sub Song track,Red & Blue,Let It Be..Naked and most of all Beatles1 probably account for alot of sales.

What happens to the millions of 1987 c.d.'s still on the store shelves? I did not see any store having a fire sale on them even on 09/08/09. Do they stay out there until all are sold or have they been ordered recalled? I haven't seen this question asked or answered yet.

My local FYE and a few Borders and Barnes And Nobles that I've been to over the past few weeks, did not have he '87 CDs in the shelves. I'm assuming they were pulled from relesae.Either internally or from instructions from Capitol? The only Beatles CDs I spotted were 1, "Red" and "Blue", Let It Be Naked, Antholgy CDs and Live At The BBC. Regards, Beatle Bob

I went to my local Wal-Mart in the days before 09/09/09 to see if it was going to release these early as some Wal-Marts accidently did per some media reports. No such luck but I saw the old ones as late as 09/08/09 on the shelf. What a waste to destroy all of these old ones if that is their fate. We could give them to the interested indigent for free but in this country's current euphoria of entitlement, ACORN or some such group would say the needy are entitled to the new, and better, remasters for free; that it is their birthright.

The Beatles in the Cut Out Bin!! Oh No!! Seriously you raise a good point. What will be done with the Old Cds? They will probably be discounted and sold at smaller chains or truck stops but who knows? I agree that it would be a waste to destroy them. I mean put 4.99 on them and I'm sure someone who could care less about sound quality will buy them. ;D

That poses a question that I had. Are all the radio stations playing the new mixes now. Are the old ones now put to bed?

That poses a question that I had. Are all the radio stations playing the new mixes now. Are the old ones now put to bed? Sirius/XM satellite radio is playing Remasters now for all their Beatles music; it shows up on your text screen as such when they play a track. Unless the DJ on terrestrial radio says so, it is hard to know, but 101.1 WCBS and Q104 in NYC are both indicating they are playing remasters now.

Does anyone know why a box set counts as only 1 unit when in fact every cd has been purchased ?
I saw an article about Very Lynne beating the Beatles sales but it was a sly jab as the Beatles sales were only counted for 3 days and hers were for a week. Additionally, if the box sets were counted as each individual cd sold as well they would have filled at least the top 5 places in the UK and the US.
Also, how will this affect the Beatles total sales numbers over time ? I have been buying the remasters individually as I still can't get hold of a box set till mid-October.
