OK, I'll be the first to comment. I've just seen some prices ...
What a tacky, low class, stupid thing to do. If Macca & Ringo gave the approval for this, they are clearly now quite senile. Put 'em out into a field where they can chew the grass. Macca's grass "chewing" is probably the cause of this anyway: too much grass has addled his brain. And Ringo never did more than say "yes".

Glad to see the Beatles music is being pushed and released in all formats.

The Apple model the USB fits into for storage looks cool. This would be a nice gift for those who like this type of music delivery system although I take it from Joseph McCabe's post that it is grossly overpriced.
Someone on Steve's Examiner site said the 24 bit with this USB device would deliver better sound than the 16 bit that was purported to be on a compact disc? Is that true? Obviously it would depend what one is playing it on.
I don't need this but I suppose it will sell out. One of my law partners would like this but let him buy it with his own year-end distribution! ;D

Glad to see the Beatles music is being pushed and released in all formats. Are you happy for it to be released in a lossy format, as mp3s on the USB drive? I realize that there are high-quality FLACS there too, which is a good thing, but to officially release very much lower quality music is ridiculous.

The prices I've seen put it about that of the stereo box set. So you pay big money for a cutesy USB stick!! Someone on Steve's Examiner site said the 24 bit with this USB device would deliver better sound than the 16 bit that was purported to be on a compact disc? Is that true? Obviously it would depend what one is playing it on. Certainly it is on the USB stick in better sound that on CD. But you WOULD need top-drawer gear to get the benefit.

I've got quite enough versions and formats of the Beatles entire catalogue to not really give a hoot if some money hungry executive comes up with a gimmick to sell more product..... I'm NOT buying these songs AGAIN......ever... in any format...shite or what not......

The $528.95 price tag on the pen is starting to make the price of the Apple USB look pretty damn reasonable! ;D

I'm just happy their music is being pushed to consumers period. Happy, even if in a crappy format (lossy mp3s)? Come on dude, standards please! Beatle product was once classy and set a very high bar. Now, it's getting close to ho-hum, pedestrian, exploitative marketing.

It's two months since 09.09.09 and I still have not even physically SEEN either of the box sets, but Apple puts their efforts into working on this thing. What a load of crap.

Now, it's getting close to ho-hum, pedestrian, exploitative marketing. Someone obviously thinks this is high tech. Mark this down, JMC. I pretty much have to agree with you. I do think they could have done this in a better way. But why are the lossless files more expensive than the box set? Doesn't make any sense. Now if the cost was for the mono AND stereo boxes, it wouldn't be so bad.

Last year Ringo put out a USB version of 'Liverpool 8'. That could have been a feeler for the Beatles USB collection. It is a way of getting around iTunes, but very much agreed that what Apple is planning is way too pricey. I could just upload the Remastered CD's on my computer and get a cheap USB drive and place them on that and have pretty much the same thing. However, doing it that way would be a cheaper way of making the Remasters a Christmas present for my brother without taking out a bank loan.

I must admit that I am VERY impressed with the "flac" files that were given to me, after being able to compare them (nearly TWO MONTHS LATER!) to the "official" boxed set release that I FINALLY recieved...

There is a market out there that has never listened to vinyl and even CD's other than what they've burned from mp3's. I wouldn't buy it either, but I would find a bittorent to download and burn . Face it, today's digital market doesn't care for the dinosaurs.
