What could/would Ringo possibly perfrom at an event like this? "Honey Don't". Sorry, I just don't think Ringo has any song that would fit the seriousness of this event. I was asking myself this question last night, and as obvious and overplayed as it is, actually WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS might apply. The people of Haiti need a little aid from their friends and supporters, so to speak. If Ringo could have performed it with a slightly slower, more somber tone. This is a song not all "regular" people have heard Ringo do, and I think it would have got the donations moving. I also thought that WALK WITH YOU would be fitting, and dreamt for a moment how cool it would have been to see Paul join Ringo for the song, in an inspired reunion moment. This is an inspired idea! WALHFMF, done in a plaintive, Joe Cocker style would have been stunning and totally in step with the event. However, I'm just not sure Ringo could really pull that off. I actually quite enjoyed the version of "Let it Be" from the concert last night. Not sure who the female, African America singer was, though. Hope everyone was able to make some contribution to the telethon.

"Walk With You" with either Ben Harper(who is amazing) or Sir Paul McCartney which would be sublime! I hear you though, theman, we wouldn't want Ringo doing "Wrack My Brain", "Liverpool 8(with all the shouts for Liverpool), No No Song or "Don't Go Where The Road Don't Go." With all the voodoo and black magic in Haiti, maybe "Devil Woman" an obscure song from RINGO would be okay. And, of course, "Missouri Loves Company" would be equally inappropriate . LOL! No that wouldn't have worked either. I had a nightmare last night that Ringo came out, all serious as artists are on these relief shows, and breaks into a raucous "Can She Do It Like She Dances." The idea Joek had on a slower, more spiritual WALHFMF is a good one in theory but I am afraid, as you stated theman, that Ringo simply couldn't pull it off. In that slower version, Ringo could not resist a, "Peace and love, peace and love, peace and love," or a "What's my name?"

. . . Hope everyone was able to make some contribution to the telethon. Before you give with your heart, think with your head. I won't give to any organization who will give a penny to Wyclef Jean's Yele. There are many places to give where you know the money will be spent wisely (Doctors Without Borders, Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross, Best Friend's, etc). Here's a website for your bookmarks: www.charitynavigator.org It will be useful as you decide who to give your money to today and in the future.

PBS has Live From the Artists Den this weekend with "5th Anniversary Special". Listed guest is Ringo Starr. I suppose it will show a clip from Ringo's 2010 show.
