In a case of a song like 'Who's Your Daddy', I look at it as the singers being actors playing characters in a play and not necessarily playing themselves, so the age difference doesn't bother me. Heck, if I want to, I can imagine that it's Joss Stone who's older than Ringo! It's just a song and should be enjoyed for what it is, a real cool Rocker. Well, that song hasn't grabbed me yet. But when I listened to it I had no idea who Stone was, or her age. And I agree - does it really matter? Of course not. The world is so messed up today that people immediately start thinking in "that way". Jeez, we used to be able to hear "You're Sixteen" with no such PC thoughts.

By the way, PEACE DREAM is now way out in front as my absolute favorite song on the album, with an uplifting message and a really catchy, happy tune.

Hey, I did say that I LIKE the song. But listen to it again. Ringo's vocals do sound a little creepy!!!

I think I am warming to a couple more songs. The first four are the best and maybe one more in the last six, the one with Richard Marx.
On the song "Y Not" I was surprised and somewhat disappointed to hear Ringo crudely sing that something was, "up his ass." Not a visual I want!

Y not only came out in the UK this week so I have only just got to hear it. I bought it not having too high expectations but I'm enjoying it so far.

Yesterday I had to roadtrip so I packed a few c.d.'s.(even though my wife got me an Apple i-pod for Christmas it remains in the package as I don't know how to get started with it!).
I took some classic Stones but also Paul's London Town and Ringo's Y Not because I have not spent any real time with it. I started with London Town but my old disc must have "disc rot" as it looked like there was a pasty substance on it so it wouldn't play. I've read old c.d.'s can have a chemical reaction where literally layers peel away on the discs thus ruining them. My c.d's are stored properly in my home so I can't explain what this stuff was. It wouldn't clean off either so my disc must have rotted though a chemical process.
Bummer because I was getting into LT. Next was Y Not and while it sonically sounds good(a nice crisp, clean recording after years of Mark Hudson), the substance is just not there except for the bits where Paul duets with Ringo on "Walk With You" which I found very moving yesterday. The rest was okay but just so superficial. "The Other Side Of Liverpool" has its moments I guess.
I played this album for the first time in weeks(if not months) and while it doesn't make me puke, it is just there not really inspiring me or really even entertaining me except in one or two brief places.
I may never play it again even though it is not "bad," it is just blah.

The whole album isn't dynamite, but that one, "Walk With Me," "Who's Your Daddy" and "Y Not" are ones I like.

I hunted down Ringo's original version of "Everyone Wins" and I was surprised how good it was compared to the "Y Not" version. It's on YouTube if you want to seek it out.

You may want to find out if a CD can be restored. As for Y NOT, I've not even tried to play it the first time. I think I downloaded it from Rhapsody but never bothered to put it on my MP3 player. CHOOSE LOVE, RINGO RAMA and VERTICAL MAN have pretty much broken me of the desire to hear new Ringo albums. JcS

Thanks guys, I'll look for such a repair kits and I have a disc repair machine that looks like a hairdryer but I have been scared to use it. But "disc rot" might be fatal unlike a scratch that can sometimes be repaired. Thank goodness Paul's catalog is being reissued, I may need a new London Town. Our old friend ChuckE has given the heads-up that Y Not is being given away...er sold at Best Buy for $7.99. Maybe for that price Joey you would consider buying the c.d.

Our old friend ChuckE has given the heads-up that Y Not is being given away...er sold at Best Buy for $7.99. Maybe for that price Joey you would consider buying the c.d. The only reason I would do that would be to do what my friend Allan Kozinn would call "protect the integrity of the collection." That's why he buys a UK and US copy of everything issued in both CD and vinyl. Me, I don't really care about that concept so much... JcS
