I don't see the big. Why does it have to be one or the other? John liked to party. Go party. The Irish have it right. Their wakes were full of jokes and laughter. John would agree that life is for the living. Go out and live. Enjoy good food, good drink, good music, and enjoy the people who are important to you - and give this toast in honor of John, "Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time." Oh, and don't forget that tampon on your head! ;D

HAPPY 70TH JOHN!!!!!!
We all miss you big time down here. What a different world it would have been for the last 30 years if you had still been with us!!
Best to George and hope you guys are writing some great new songs for the big reunion concert in the sky someday!
Will you inspire Paul to put some more of your songs in his Beatle portion of his concerts. Maybe a few of George's as well.
Has Stuart finally figured out how to play a good bass line up there yet?
Tell Neil to push Sony to release "Let It Be" DVD of the movie.
Where the hell are those re-makes of Beatles songs you supposedly recorded around the Double Fantasy period?
Is your mama playing banjo in your band up there with you?
We miss you man!

Imagine John Lennon 70. That picture is probably more accurate than the one of all four in their sixties that has been around for years. But we'll never know.

He also looks quite like how Julian looks these days.

Yikes, look at what Greg, a/k/a Tammy Tingles, has posted on his great Beatle Photo Blog: beatlephotoblog.com/John in June 1980 leaving South Africa for New York. This was one of those bizarre trips Yoko made John take based on astrology. John couldn't go to England to see Mimi and Julian but he was sent to South Africa and Hong Kong among other places. Cynical people might think that Yoko was just getting John out of her hair(or out of her way) with these astrologically based trips. I wonder if the international cultural and travel ban was in effect for then Apartheid South Africa? John wasn't going as a protestor but as a tourist staying in a luxury hotel. I wonder if Yoko booked him into Sun City? This trip would be a huge political no-no in just a year or two as the Apartheid protests on our campuses were in full swing by 1982.

By comparison he looked a figure of health during The Lost Weekend.

Also, in this photo I'd say John is sitting in business class, do you think that is business class or first class ? Was there a business class in 1980 ?

By comparison he looked a figure of health during The Lost Weekend. It was all that Macrobiotic crap he was eating. Anyone I have ever known on those diets looks like death warmed over; too thin, pale skin, sunken eyes with dark circles around them. You can't tell me that diet is good for you when you look like that. Have a cheeseburger John! ;D

And I also think John looks terrible. One other thing - I'd bet he would be bald if he was still with us (way too much hair in the above sketch).

CNN Domestic (North American feed) is airing an interview with Yoko on Tuesday night (Oct. 19) on Anderson Cooper's "360" Newscast (10PM Eastern Time) on events surrounding John's 70th Celebrations.
BTW, "Nowhere Boy" has gotten some great reviews surrounding its release to North American theatres this past week. Rolling Stone gave it a big thumbs up, USA Today gave it 3 1/2 out of 4 stars. This is a must see movie if you are a Beatlefan. Fascinating expose on John's relationship with his mother and the aunt who raised him at the moment he was awakening to the music that he and his mates would eventually change the world. And, it is directed by a woman so that adds a special dimension to the whole chemistry of the movie's point of view.
