Wow, glad to hear you are well and have power back, Mike! And Blackguard, likewise glad that you are safe! I was glued to the Weather Channel and CNN all weekend. Come to think of it, I've been glued to the Weather Channel all summer because of our wild weather.

I want to echo JSD. I'm glad that everyone on the board appears to have come through relatively unscathed!

I'm in the NY area. Gee, what a "devastating" hurricane. I've felt more damage after a good sneeze. All this much-ado-about-nothing tropical storm meant was that I'm now stuck with an unopened four-pack of "D" batteries. I've never seen the media go so overboard on 24/7 precautions as they did over this nothing event, in the days before and now the days after. The radio is still doing nonstop "Aftermath Coverage"!

Major flooding in Vermont where my sister is with her family and they're OK. The hurricane has already claimed 40 lives in Vermont.
New York got off easy and we shouldn't be so smug. We have a bad tendency on inwardly reflecting on our own minor "inconveniences" and forget that others were greatly affected by the events of this weekend, some unfortunately, fatally so.
Keep those who've lost loved ones in Vermont in your thoughts and prayers.

I will move this Thread tomorrow to Off Topic or Trials and Tribulations. All of our regular posters/friends here are safe and accounted for although with some property damage.
Hurricane Irene was still a dangerous storm killing nearly 50 people and causing a lot of property damage. Connecticut and Vermont got walloped as did parts of every State she touched.
We were all relieved to hear that our friends here were ultimately safe and sound.
