I've heard that Ringo will be touring with his All-Starrs again in 2012... and I hope it's true, because my 20-year-old nephew had a great time seeing Paul at Yankee Stadium last year, and how great would it be for him to also get a chance to see Ringo while Mr. Starkey is still up and about?
Anyone hear any dates? Oldfred - anything about New York?

I hope the dates will be announced soon because my girlfriend and I would like to go on vacation for a couple of weeks this year and I'm afraid to pick dates for my job which will clash with Ringo's New York shows - or that I'll be away when the ticket sales are announced! Problem is, my vacation picks need to be handed in by next Tuesday!

Although I don't think I've seen this posted anywhere else, Ringo's tour dates have been announced. It seems it's a real tiny tour, and only one venue for me in NY -- that being the Jones Beach Theater on June 22nd. I am sorry to report this - especially for JSD -- but Ringo's All-Starr lineup for 2012 is as underwhelming as always. I mean, I'm still going because I like to see Ringo and hear his new song -- and it'll be my nephew's first time seeing Ringo ever -- but wow, what a dull lineup: New to the All Starrs are Steve Lukather (Toto) and Gregg Rolie (Santana & Journey) who will join All Starr alumni Richard Page, Todd Rundgren, Mark Rivera, and Gregg Bissonette.
The tour is being produced by Dave Hart and as always fans can expect to hear a jukebox worth of hits. Ringo classic’s such as “It Don’t Come Easy”, “Photograph”, “Little Help From My Friends”, “Yellow Submarine” and “Wings", from Starr’s just released 17th solo record, Ringo 2012 (Hip-O/Ume). All Starr’s hits include “Rosanna,” “Broken Wings,” “Hello It’s Me,” “Black Magic Woman.”
Ringo will spend his birthday on the road, with a performance at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on July 7. Following in the tradition of the last few years, at Noon from the Hard Rock Nashville, Ringo will ask anyone anywhere, and everyone everywhere, to join him in a wish for Peace & Love.
The confirmed dates are as follows:
June 14, 15 – Fallsview Casino, Niagara Falls, ON June 16 – Bethel Woods PAC, Bethel, NY June 17 – Mohegan Sun, Uncasville, CT June 19 – Bank of America Pavilion, Boston, MA June 22 – Jones Beach Ampitheater, Wantagh, NY June 23 – Ceasar’s, Atlantic City, NJ June 24 – Meyerhoff, Baltimore, MD June 26 – State Theater, Easton, PA June 27 – Mayo Center, Morristown, NJ June 29 – St Augustine Theater, St. Augustine, FL June 30 – Seminole Hard Rock Arena, Hollywood, FL July 1 – Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater, FL July 3 – Tuscaloosa Ampitheater, Tuscaloosa, Al July 4 – The Wharf, Orange Beach, Al July 6 – Fox Theater, Atlanta, GA July 7 – Ryman Auditorium, Nashville, TN July 8 – Horseshoe Casino, Hammond, IL July 11 – Usana Ampitheater, Salt Lake, UT July 13 – Northern Quest, Spokane, WA July 14 – St Michelle Winery, Seattle, WA July 15 – Edgefield, Portland, OR July 17 – Mountain Winery, Saratoga, CA July 19 – Humphrey’s, San Diego, CA July 21 – The Greek, Los Angeles, CA
More dates to be announced soon.
I'll always defend Ringo for being 72 and still out there and kicking, and I do allow for his age.. but...

I'll always defend Ringo for being 72 and still out there and kicking, and I do allow for his age.. but... No Holmdel appearance. I would like to see Greg Rolie who not only was THE voice for Santana, but was also a lead vocalist for Journey in the early pre-Steve Perry days, when they were actaully a true classic rock band and not an over glorified hair-pop-arena band. Perry was the original Michael Bolton if you know what I mean.

Perry was the original Michael Bolton if you know what I mean. Steve Perry's Journey was okay. He doesn't have that grating squeal that Bolton has. They weren't one of my favorites but they were worth a greatest hits album. Compare that to REO Speedway who deserve a greatest hits album and a studio album, Nine Lives (for Easy Money) and Styx who deserve a couple of tracks dubbed down from a mix tape on cassette.

Yeah, pre-Perry Journey was really good. Their first album sounded to me, in a lot of places, very late 60s bluesy Beatley to me in various parts of their songs. It was sort of like they wanted to show that they could measure up to the best. Yeah, derivative, but a new band usually wants to show they have the guns. How's this for a bill I saw: Pre-Perry Journey opening for Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. That was a killer show. I thought the first Perry Journey album was really good, but then they got REALLY commercial.

I'll always defend Ringo for being 72 and still out there and kicking, and I do allow for his age.. but... You always have my back Joe! I saw Ringo on his last tour and I went in thinking I would be bummed but those guys kicked ass! That had one of those Winter boys, a dude from the Romantics and a dude from Mr. Mister(who was really good). My wife got all hot for Ringo in his tight black jeans and I had these insane competing emotions of being jealous yet thinking it was cool that my wife was turned on by Ringo. And folks, The Horseshoe Casino in Hammond is in Indiana and not that bankrupt, Obama-loving State of Illinois! If Ringo's website says that Hammond is in Illinois then I am really pissed off. It is like saying that Liverpool is in Scotland! I feel strongly about it because the Horseshoe Casino is where my wife lusted for Ringo in 2010! There are better venues in Indiana, damn-it Ringo!

I saw the arena version of Journey at the Carrier Dome in 1982 in the nose bleeds. Not an all time concert highlight. Great musicians though. Yeah- ELP would have been great to see live. I saw solo Greg Lake in a small theatre around that same time with Thin Lizzy's guitarist. Two songs in Lake quit because of throat problems. Didn't see Lake again live 'til he played with Ringo in 2001.

I just got my Ringo tickets! They went on sale at 10:00 and my receipt was timed at 10:01 ...! I will be going with my 20-year-old nephew Alex who is a real Beatles Fan! (Last year I took himn to see Paul at Yankee Stadium)! I'm still amazed that he was born in 1991 -- two years after Paul and RIngo started touring again in 1989 -- and here we have both Paul and Ringo still going strong!!
I'll be going to Jones Beach, which is an outside venue and the stage is out in the water (I saw Ringo there in 1989 and 1992). It's not the most ideal place for a show, but the ambiance is nice if it doesn't rain!
These are the best seats I've ever gotten (not counting when I won up-front tickets to Paul's UP CLOSE taping in '92 where I stood against the stage!) -- Alex and I are in the orchestra section, but on the extreme left side of the stage.
No it wasn't, JSD --! My Ringo seats here were $96 each... but I only paid $54 each for Paul (but with Paul I was in the very back row of the stadium, whereas with Rings I am up front).

My wife and I are not going to any outdoor concerts anytime soon! Wow, that blows me away. If Paul knew about that, he'd raise the price of even the nosebleed seats! ;D Must command more for tickets than Ringo.

That would be over $600 with all of those fees and taxes for four tickets! Does anyone else here get nervous about advancing that kind of money for in-laws? ;D

So who's the Ringo defender now? Or perhaps you're just hoping to get the wife all hot and bothered...

I prefer the Egg version with the horns and such. No Ringo for me this year although my wife wanted to go. No reason, I just didn't get tickets for the Hammond, Indiana show. Ringo does look great and sounds great. See this is where Ringo gets the last laugh! Though not nearly the singer like John, Paul and George, Ringo's voice is kind of rough but never changes! ;D Ringo still sounds like the records!
