Oh...you've changed it, my first thought is "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" but it's your call. I'll keep my eye on these threads and see how they go...

4 -- I can't say enough about this song. Ringo's greatest song of all time for me, and I never get tired of hearing it. When it comes on the radio with its distinctive opening I really get excited to this day. For me a huge part of that reason is because I was 9 when this song was a hit, and it always serves as a soundtrack to my childhood. I always think of happier times with loved ones when everybody was still together and alive.... summer get-togethers..... barbecues.... good times.

I will still participate, i wasn't sure how big the change was but having read your post on how you rate the song i see it's just poll rather than rate...

Great song that has a sole credit to Ringo but i'm fairly sure George had a big role to play in it's creation, a bit like Octopus's Garden....
Ringo was on a roll at this time.....

I liked it as it was...i'm not a fan of polls but i can live with it... OK, I see. The way I'm looking at it is, everyone has always picked a number from 1 to 4 to rate the songs, and we got a sense of what the predominant number was anyway ... the poll set-up just tells us the general most popular rating at a quick glance. By the way, I would encourage participants to please include the number they chose in the text with their comments as well!

Here are the lyrics....
(Richard Starkey) It don't come easy, You know it don't come easy.
It don't come easy, You know it don't come easy.
Got to pay your dues if you wanna sing the blues, And you know it don't come easy. You don't have to shout or leap about, You can even play them easy.
Forget about the past and all your sorrows, The future won't last, It will soon be over tomorrow.
I don't ask for much, i only want your trust, And you know it don't come easy. And this love of mine keeps growing all the time, And you know it just ain't easy.
Open up your heart, let's come together, Use a little love And we will make it work out better.
Got to pay your dues if you wanna sing the blues, And you know it don't come easy. You don't have to shout or leap about, You can even play them easy.
Peace, remember peace is how we make it, Here within your reach If you're big enough to take it.
I don't ask for much, i only want your trust, And you know it don't come easy. And this love of mine keeps growing all the time, And you know it don't come easy.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but out of the zillion times Ringo has sung this song live, he has never sang the verse: Forget about the past and all your sorrows, The future won't last, It will soon be over tomorrow.I don't think there is any deliberate reason for the deletion on Ringo's part. I just figure he's never realized he's missed it. (By the way, I always thought the last words were "It will soon be your tomorrow".) ? ( I don't ask for much, i only want your trust, -- where'd the new word "your" come from here? )

Oops -- I see something I missed here. I meant to put numbers from "4" down to "1" in front of each poll choice. I have tried to modify it by going in and adding the numbers but I don't seem able to edit.

4 Great song-one of best of any Beatles solo songs!

I like the 1-4 too so I'll do both, select the corresponding dot on the Poll and write out the number.
4. Ringo cannot ever hope to sound cooler than on this record. Awesome job, Ringo(and George)!
Ringo realizes that and sadly references this song in every album now on some increasingly vapid song!

A great song by half The Beatles, showing that Ringo could deliver vocally if he put his tonsils to it, and could definitely deliver the goods from a writing point of view. But let's not forget to thank George for the arrangement, the jangly guitar work, and the backing vocals.

4. I'm listening to this thinking it could have been a Beatles single. Its certainly good enough. Also the line "open up your hearts, let's come together. Use a little love and we will make it work out better" seems like a plea to the other Beatles to put their disagreements behind them. Remember this was recorded in early 1970. That could have been on his mind.
Excellent song. Somehow the lyrics work with the peace and love theme. They aren't oversold. Fine vocal performance by Ringo and nice arrangement. George must have produced it. His finger prints are all over the production. He probably helped with the song here and there. I don't think its mainly Geroge's song, but its odd he did a demo.
As for leaving out the verse, I am sure Ringo is aware of it. He probably just wanted to shorten the song for a live perfomance or maybe he didn't like the words just as Paul didn't like the line about "out of college, money spent, see no future pay no rent, all the money's gone nowhere to go" but pretended to forget them. You Never Give Me Your Money is the perfect theme song for the Occupiers-especially the line about being out of college etc.

Maybe it's me, but I don't get what you're saying. I liked it as it was...i'm not a fan of polls but i can live with it... You were involved in a poll with the previous method. All this does is tally the total votes. Maybe that is what you object to.

Yes- this could have been a Beatle single as is, and arguably you have just as many Beatles on this as the Ballad of John and Yoko.
I wouldn't say that for most other "twotle" songs, and the two "Threetle" songs I'm the Greatest and All Those Years Ago, but this one would have cut the mustard, and Paul and John would have to accept it as a peace offering for Ringo and George's exclusion on the other single.
This IMO is the strongest Beatle "level" single out of all of them, Imagine, My Sweet Lord, Photograph and Uncle Albert included.
Point is not that it is the best "solo" single-it didn't even get to no. 1, but the closest to the band feel and magic.

There are probably fifty or so, most being Ringo and George. To me only It Dont Come Easy really sounds like the Beatles. Honorable mention goes to Oh My Love, Remember and Beautiful Night (also with George Martin).

Remember this was recorded in early 1970. That could have been on his mind. I think the band was happy to split at that point. I've got a name for a new disease. It's called: "IthinkthesoloBeatleswerealwayswritingabouttheotherBeatles-itis"

But Alan White's pulsating drums made it a Plastic Ono song-great great song-no Beatle magic...but that one coulda been a contenda' All Thing Must Pass is majestic and could have closed the Abbey Road saga. But the ATMP version has a very unBeatle arrangement. Great though. I guess my common denominator is Ringo on the skins

4. It's Ringo's best. What should I add?
Ringo's best: It Don't Come Easy 1971 (recorded 1970). John's best: Instant Karma 1970, or Imagine 1971. George's best: My Sweet Lord 1970. Paul's best: Maybe I'm Amazed? 1970.
All within about a year and a half of April 1970.

Its nice seeing the vote tally, only no more half votes except in the messages themselves.
