22nd Aug 1968, Ringo Starr quit The Beatles during the White Album sessions when the constant bickering and tension became too much for him. The news of Ringo's departure was kept secret, and he rejoined the sessions on September 3rd. Starr of The Beatles: www.thisdayinmusic.com/pages/ringo_starrI think in retrospect, both Starr's departure and Harrison's in Janaury of 1969 were "band tantrums", perhaps longer than storming out of the room, but blips in Beatle history, not much different than Ringo missing a tour with tonsillitis or George's early trip to America. Perhaps because they were so late in the timeline- they were pieces of the dissolving of the group. Get Back certainly was.
