Brace yourself, KC, Fabfour, Ursamajor, Nine, and Fiona...... ;D Can't believe I'm reading this (he beat Pete Best.. ;D...), I whinged a couple of times this year over him ever touring here, and now he's coming.... Hey Steve or RTP (alia's Mr McCartney), you both haven't dobbed me into him, have ya.....lol Oh well after waiting since 1964, I suppose I should try and get a ticket to see Mr *Yellow Submarine*...... Not looking forward to his All-Star (crap?) thou, can't believe with all his albums, he can't come up with a decent setlist, and perform for at least an hour? Hey JSD or JoeK, what's his concerts like, he doesn't come on for only 15min, and then it's Peace & Love all night...... ;D Time to make a piece of toast..... or a Cappuccino (this is my favourite clip...lol) Ringo Starr announces Australian tour
Ringo Starr, a quarter of one of history's biggest bands, The Beatles, narrator of Thomas The Tank Engine and card carrying Member of the Order of the British Empire has announced an Australian tour in February 2013.
Ringo has shows booked in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth with his All Starr band, comprised of other music powerhouses Steve Lukather (Toto), Richard Page (Mr. Mister), Todd Rundgren, Mark Rivera, Gregg Rolie (Santana and Journey) and Gregg Bissonette.
The tour is sandwiched between dates in Japan and New Zealand, and will feature classic Ringo hits like “It Don’t Come Easy”, “Photograph”, “Little Help From My Friends”, “Yellow Submarine” and “Wings”, from Starr’s recently released 17th solo record, which makes me wonder whether he had a chat with Paul McCartney about cross-promoting their post-Beatles products given McCartney’s band of the same name.
It has a very cute film clip.
All Starr’s hits include “Rosanna,” “Broken Wings,” “Hello It’s Me,” and “Black Magic Woman,” which any karaoke expert, smooth tunes operator or easy listening fans worth their salt would be able to belt out from memory.
It will be the first performances Ringo has had in Australia since The Beatles’ infamous 1964 tour.
Of the Asia-Pacific tour, Ringo said, “I am looking forward to revisiting Japan with the All Starrs and of course New Zealand and Australia. Peace and love!”
What a nice dude.
Pre-sale tickets go up Friday 2 November to Monday 5 November, and the general public can get their hands on them from Wednesday 7 November.

Rocko, you've got to go to see Ringo! I have seen him now 6 to 7 times in the All-Starr format and once with the Roundheads and I still go when: (1) he's within driving distance; and (2) the show is on the weekend or close to a weekend. It is a fun concert and he looks and sounds great(meaning when he sings he still sounds like our Ringo!). He'll do the P & L thing and he'll do the "What's My Name?" and he'll do jumping jacks during one or to of his songs(Ringo is an advocate to fight childhood obesity) but he puts on a good show. Rocko, you'll scream like a school girl when he does "Boys" or "Honey Don't" or any of those other rockers from long ago. Now fabfour, it ain't the Stones but you'll have fun too!

Rocko, you've got Cliff,m The Hollies, and now Ringo touring Australia in 2013. You'd better get to at least one of these shows!
I hope this tour is a success for Ritchie, even though it's not to Latin America, where he is mose beloved.

LMAO, early on I thought that The Hollies played in neighboring Peru, Indiana in the early, mid 1960's. I wanted to go and find where they played and just breath the same air Tony Hicks once breathed but then scousette corrected me that the Hollies never played there! I would have looked foolish sitting in some old gym just sucking down the stale air. I guess I still would even if the Hollies had played there 45 years earlier! ;D Sometimes...all I need is the air that Tony breathes and to love him! Yes, Rocko you need to see The Hollies too.

If Rocko doesn't go to the Hollies concert and see his guitar hero Tony Hicks then I will be very disappointed.
Mainly because I need a report on Tony!

Mainly because I need a report on Tony! Well Scousette, I got (Premium) tickets to see the *The Hollies* and also Tickets to see *Cliff Richard* for the whole family.... With the Hollies I'm very close to the front, thats on the 9th Feb 2013, and Cliffs a bit further back in the centre, and thats on 18th Feb 2013......With Ringo, the tickets will go on sale next week, need to check with Ticketmaster.... What's funny and a coincedance with Ringo, is that the Beatles performed at Festival Hall in Melbourne in 1964, and nearly 50 years later, Ringo will be performing in the same venue....I thought the place closed down years ago..... Hollies - Look Through any Window (live)Cliff Richard & The Shadows - On the Beach (Movie - Wonderful Life)

Ringo is playing at a venue called the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney which has been around for decades and is the same place Wings played in 1975.

I saw Ringo's upcoming Feb concerts at Melbourne's Festival Hall advertised in today's newspaper, so i saved the article, i'll have to give the number a call this week and book a couple of tickets, me and the wife...
The dates are Feb16th and 17th...
Interesting that he's playing at the same venue as the Beatles did in 1964. I bet it looks exactly the same, unless it's had a coat of paint since.... ;D

See how you go, there are two concerts, so there still should be heaps of tickets Yeah I can't believe it is at festival hall, where the Fabs played last, I thought the place was shut down (lol) So I've got the Hollies on the 9th Feb, Ringo on the 17th, and Cliff on the 18th Feb 2012 My poor ears alright (as JSD would say), because currently I still have the *Middle Ear Infection* (whereby you get vertigo, nausea, muscle spasms etc...?)....I hoping I've made some sort of recovery by then, this infection I've already had it now for 6 months.....

Just over a week to go before Ringo hits Sydney next Wednesday the 13th of Feb. I have decided not to wear a Ringo t-shirt but a Beatles t-shirt. Been shopping around online and didn't realise there were so many cool Beatles t-shirts out there. I'm going to take my iPhone with me so I can take some Photographs because meeting Ringo Don't Come Easy !!

It gets a little complicated, but when Ringo shouts, "What's my name?!"...the crowd is supposed to reply enthusiastically "RINGO!" Sometimes I yell "Richard Starkey" which always draws a knowing chuckle from the older crowd members.

I understand the other fabs always called him Rich or Richie except when being formally interviewed as Beatles, duringand after the Beatle years, or onstage in concerts, when he would be referred to as Ringo.

Yep and I'm going to be shouting out requests from Rotogravure and Ringo the IVth And you will be grossly disappointed because Ringo live is as spontaneous as Paul McCartney live which means f-ing zero! You will have fun but you might as well play Blast From Your Past, but only one half of it, and that will be your Ringo experience.

Only one more sleep and i'm off to see "Ritchie"..
Hope he puts in a good one, hope he doesn't over do the Peace and Love routine....
However, I do understand he's an old 60's hippie who hasn't let go of that era.....

Enjoy the show F4, I saw Ringo and his All Starrs on Wed night and we loved it. You will be surprised how good the show is. I don't want to reveal any spoilers so Rocko'roll , yourself and any other Aussie fan can experience with no knowledge of what is going to come next, what songs they will do. All I can reveal is this : 1. Ringo is a daggy dancer 2. He says peace and love over a 100 times during the show 3. Everyone is wearing either a Beatles, John, Paul or George t-shirt but no Ringo shirt 4. The place was full of cougars and MILFs I emailed every songs to myself from the iPhone so I will post the setlist after he's done Aus. Enjoy the show guys !!!!

That was the setlist for last night... Great show, great band, very good muso Mark Rivera, he's a much better vocalist than I realised. Not as many Peace and Loves as I thought there would be... I don't know who filled the second drum spot when Ringo ended the show with Photograph and With a Little Help From My Friends...

Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band Melbourne, Festival Hall - 17th February 2013
The 25-song, 2 hour set covering his own Beatle/Solo hits, plus hits from his all Starr band
Current All Starr line-up:
Ringo Starr (vocal, drums) Mark Rivera (sax, keyboards) Richard Page (bass guitar) Todd Rundgren (guitar) Steve Lukather (guitar) Gregg Rolie (keyboards) Gregg Bissonette (drums)
We arrived at Festival Hall at 7:00pm crowds of queuing to get in, the stalls were selling T- Shirts, Pullovers, Mugs, and the usual $30 Souvenir Programs.....I bought myself a navy blue $130 hooded Jacket with Ringo Starr printed on the front, and Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band 2013 tour on the back (refer photo's below), plus the Souvenir Program (expensive cardboard with glossy photo's...lol)
When we were entered and was shown to our seat, I couldn't believe we were in the very front row...I knew we were in the front, like 2nd/3rd row, but not the 1st row in the middle
At 8:00pm the concert started, and after a hearty screamed introduction from Rundgren and once the rest of the band had taken their places, Ringo dashes out for a song from his Beatles days – Carl Perkins’ ‘Matchbox’
When he dash out on the stage and started singing Matchbox (still had to pinch myself that I actually saw a Beatle in the flesh?) instantly knew why Beatlemania was as intense as it was. Also, he's a really funny guy. Just as interesting however was seeing all the fans, majority well above my age in there teens during the 60s (whilst I was 3-10 years of age back then)....But it was great to see so many fans of all ages in one place....
Then it’s onto his signature solo anthem *It Don’t Come Easy*, with the first of many awesome sax solos from multi-instrumentalist Mark Rivera and a generous dose of peace signs from Ringo, who’s remarkably fit and animated at age 72....After performing this great song, he starts talking and says that he plays music to have fun, and not to be tortured....?
Then he did his new song *Wings* from Ringo 2012, making a characteristically self-deprecating joke about its poor sales and shedding his black jacket in the face of Festival Hall’s sweltering heat.
I loved it when (pointing in our direction) he says *I'd like to thank those of you who bought my new CD* (if he only knew, I never bought it at all as yet....lol)
Then Ringo introduces the All Starr Band, and mentions how their star's in their right, and how he got the line-up together in Summer, and that it was also summer here....Then he introduces Todd Rundren (the party animal....lol), singing one of my favourites from the 70's *I saw the light*, which I never knew he sung?
Ringo takes to the drums for the first time. Then it’s into a round-robin of his band playing hits from their own storied careers while Ringo drums alongside Bissonette
Next was the original vocalist/keyboardist Gregg Rolie from my favourite 70's rock band Santana’s with *Evil Ways* ....Ringo on drums again, Steve Lukather from Toto doing a fine job on lead guitar, Rivera on Percussions, and Todd on guitar, and Richard on Bass....
Ex-Toto Steve Lukather was next to do there big hit *Rosanna*....He praised Ringo at the start by calling him a very dear friend, and the only reason he took up guitar was because of him and his other friends (J,P, and G)....Called him the coolest dude alive, and told us are you ready to party, and then ripped into Rosanna (my Mrs was freaking out with her favourite 80's hit)......Rivera did a great job, helping out with the vocals, and played sax, Ringo was on drums....
Next was one of the All Starr's I was desperate to hear.....Mr. Mister, Richard Page doing one of his 80's *Kyrie*, Steve introduced him, and then they got into the song....They got us singing along, which was a highlight....Richard on bass, Ringo and Gregg doubling on drums again.
The next number was Ringo getting on the keyboard for the White Album classic *Don't Pass Me By* Just seeing him get on the keyboards briefly was just gold, Rivera took over with keyboards, and Ringo continued the song on vocals....Everyone was singing and clapping to the song, and another great highlight....
Todd Rundgren, came on next to do *Bang The Drum all Day*, a funny track in which I've never heard of (or have I, sounds like an old 70's song I've sorted heard of somewhere?) The three i.e. Todd, Ringo & Gregg were all on drums a real highlight...
Ringo is back on doing another piece of Beatles memorabilia coming in with The Shirelles’ *Boys*, a cover that gave Ringo his first recorded lead vocals for the band and also goes back to his days with Rory Storm & The Hurricanes.
On the night. there was no screaming from girls like it was back 1964 with the fabs, but there was a couple of girls/mum's shouting out occasionally with....*We luv ya Ringo*...
The next highlight was when he introduced a song and that he told us that we are *very familiar* with it, and I knew it was *Yellow Submarine*....So I yelled out, *Oh Yeah*, and he points towards to me, and replies....*Now here's a guy, who knows what I'm going to sing*.. The most psychedelic of shanties, *Yellow Submarine*, rearing its cartoon nose and everyone is on their feet singing and shouting, whistling and cheering, right to the end...
Gregg Rolie returns and performs Santana’s *Black Magic Woman* and this is where Ringo takes a break offstage..... Steve Lukather does a great job in filling in Carlo's Santana's lead guitar work for the song......awesome song and the crowd cheering at the end was memorable...
Ringo next number was doing his favourite Carl Perkins cover *Honey Don't*, it went down well....The song reminded me of GH tribute concert when he performed it in 2002....;(
Now at this stage, each member gets introduced and applauded, and Ringo does his what's my name saga (*laugh*), and all Peace & Love signs....Being at the front, we got a lot of attention from him here....I got a bit carried away with all the P & L signs....Then he introduced another new track from Ringo 2012, titled Anthem, in which it was new to me, it sounded alright....
*You Are Mine* was next by Richard Page, which was unfamiliar to me also, then Steve Lukather came on doing another Toto hit with *Africa*.....Getting the crowd going again on their feet telling us its party time again.....Another great sing-along, with great sax from Rivera...
Next was another Santana cover *Everybody's Everything* from Gregg Rolie, the title was familiar, but the song I'd never heard off?
Ringo came on doing the fabs, *I Wanna Be Your Man*, Hmmm, Yeah, what can I say, an average song and performance, the crowd wasn't cheering that much....I wouldn't have included this on the set list, to outdated in my opinion......Don't know why he didn't do *Never without You* or *Liverpool 8*, we needed to hear more (recent) solo songs from him?
Funny how after performing , *I Wanna Be Your Man*, this lady near me shouts out....Ringo, why don't you perform *Devil Woman*, I replied *he's on tomorrow night* (referring to Cliff Richard...lol, but she was referring to Ringo's version of Devil Woman).......Ringo replies back to her....*You are a Devil Woman, lady*...?.........(Woooo, you ask a dumb question, your gonna get a dumb answer, felt sorry for her there?)
Todd next does a Utopia cover *Love Is the Answer*, a very nice ballad/love song, again new to me?
Now the song my Mrs and I was waiting all night Mr Mister cover *Broken Wings*...Wow do I love this 80's hit, this had everyone singing along...
*Hold the Line* was sung very well by Steve Lukather, the crowd was on their feet, cheering and singing along again.......This was the last All Starr song for the night (what a finale from them)
Next we had Ringo doing his own finale, in which he caught me off guard....What happened was everyone walked off their seats and moved to the stage standing with their mobile & camera's in their hand (I did the same).....Ringo starts performing *Photograph*, we were only a metre or two away from him, and we took pictures and sung along really loud with the song (seems like he was doing his last few songs, in which I wasn't aware?)......*Photograph* finishes then he rips into *Act Naturally*, everyone was singing along crazy with this Buck Owen's cover?
Now for the big one on the night and the last and final song the fabs *With a Little Help from my Friends*, that had everyone on their feet, cheering, clapping, whistling, stamping their feet (Ringo doing Starr-Jumps as well....lol) it was deafening, but well worth it.....After the big climax to the song Ringo disappears and to finish the concert, he runs back on stage and got everyone singing together with the JL's memorable line, *All we are saying is give Peace a chance*........Yep, and that's it folks, he was then gone.....We cheered more for encores, but finito he never returned....;(
Conclusion
Absolutely brilliant to see Ringo and his All Starr Band on the night. The important thing was that this was a real live Beatle, playing Beatles songs and for a bonus - in the same venue as he did with the other Fabs in 1964. This was a dream for all Beatle fans. So important that we, like others, took our family (the Mrs & youngest son) to witness history. The highlight was Ringo playing the drums singing the same Beatle songs live, that he did with the Beatles. I thought the All Starr band was great,
Favourite Moments
Being within 5 metres of an absolute legend.....
Getting mentioned/complimented on his signature song Yellow Submarine, and watching the whole of Festival Hall getting up and singing/clapping to the song.....Plus all the Peace/Love signs we were giving him, and him replying in return.
“Not much has changed. He (Ringo) is agile. He absolutely is looking like he loves it up there on stage at 72-years-old. He just puts everything into it”
For those who haven't seen him, don’t think you are going to see some kind of 3hr high-tech show (like Cliff Richard or Paul McCartney) but if you just want to hear great music of that period and see a Beatle live on stage then you won’t be disappointed”
Watching Todd was a constant moment, but seeing Ringo was the total highlight for me. I love that he is so healthy and clearly enjoys performing.
Everyone standing up at the end and singing *With a Little Help From My Friends* then transitioning into *Give Peace a Chance*....it was also great to see old and young swaying, dancing and singing along to the tunes...
His voice is and never was the greatest...On the night it was average, but if you look at his overall talent and listening to his accent and entertaining us is something I will never forget
Put on a very slick show and his All Starr Band were brilliant and sounded fantastic. Steve Lukather one of the most respected session guitar players in the game. Richard Price the life and soul of Mr Mister-great voice and the party animal Todd Rundgren, was great....
The concert was continuous 2 hr with no 20/30 min break like the Hollies the previous week....A small disappointment that there was no encores. He hadn't sang *Octopus's Garden*, and we all thought he was saving it for the encore, but not to be :-(
As mentioned before on many of my messages, why doesn't Ringo like Paul perform on his own with all his Beatle/solo hits he's had through the years.....But he prefers his All Starrs, which is now in its 11 or 12th configuration....It was doubtful on the night that anyone in the audience was here for the All Starr songs, but most seem pleased just being in the same room as Ringo.
Only disappointment was that Ringo did not mention the Beatles collectively or individually at all (only, that other band I used to be in?). Just once would have been nice. But to see a Beatle in town was amazing.
The only downside was the venue Festival Hall which needs to be renovated or demolished (it was still in the same condition from when the fabs last performed there). even the seats were terrible. I'm pretty sure they bought them second hand from my old primary school...I felt sorry for Ringo, I noticed he was sweating, before the concert even commenced, due to no air-conditioning.....But on the upside, and going there for the first time, at least it gave me the look/feel of what it was like in 1964 when The Beatles performed there (without Jimmy Nichols of course...lol) Set list
01 - Matchbox (Carl Perkins cover) (vocal - Ringo Starr) 02 - It Don't Come Easy (Ringo - Solo) 03 - Wings (Ringo - Solo) 04 - I Saw the Light (Todd Rundgren cover) (vocal - Todd Rundgren) 05 - Evil Ways (Santana cover) (vocal - Gregg Rolie) 06 - Rosanna (Toto cover) (vocal - Steve Lukather) 07 - Kyrie (Mr. Mister cover) (vocal - Richard Page) 08 - Don't Pass Me By (Ringo - Beatle) 09 - Bang the Drum All Day (Todd Rundgren cover) (voc.Todd Rundgren) 10 - Boys (The Shirelles cover) (vocal - Ringo Starr) 11 - Yellow Submarine (Ringo - Beatle) 12 - Black Magic Woman (Fleetwood Mac cover) (vocal - Gregg Rolie) 13 - Honey Don't (Carl Perkins cover) (vocal - Ringo Starr) 14 - Anthem(Ringo - Solo) 15 - You Are Mine (Richard Page cover) (vocal - Richard Page) 16 - Africa (Toto cover) (voc.Steve Lukather) 17 - Everybody's Everything (Santana cover) (vocal - Gregg Rolie) 18 - I Wanna Be Your Man (Ringo - Beatle) 19 - Love Is the Answer (Utopia cover) vocal - Todd Rundgren) 20 - Broken Wings (Mr. Mister cover) (vocal - Richard Page) 21 - Hold the Line (Toto cover) (vocal - Steve Lukather) 22 - Photograph (Ringo - Solo) 23 - Act Naturally (Buck Owens cover) (vocal - Ringo Starr) 24 - With a Little Help from my Friends (Ringo - Beatle) 25 - Give Peace a Chance (John Lennon - Cover) (vocal - Ringo Starr)
