A Beatle Fan I know told me he just ordered tickets for Ringo's live tour of 2014. He lives in NC. I had no idea this was happening for certain, so I checked my New York venues (Westbury Theater, where I prefer to see Ringo) and the Beacon Theater. It turns out that there will be a Pre-Sale for Westbury this coming Tuesday, Feb. 4th, at 10am. I'm lucky in that I will be home from work all next week for vacation... but as fate would have it, I have a pre-existing dental appointment that day at that time! Well, it looks like I'll have to re-arrange that appointment so I can order tickets. My girlfriend wants to see Ringo, she's never seen him before and has now grown fond of him since seeing so many interviews and shows from my video collection.
Here is the disappointment, however (I can hear John S Damm right now, and I won't blame him) -- Ringo is having the same damn band he had last time in 2012. I always stick up for ol' Ringo and I still say it's fun to see him perform once every two years or so ... but I'd be lying if I said that it didn't bug the crap out of me that he doesn't even bother to look for new artists for his All Starrs anymore. Now, in this one regard I can agree with John Damm that Ringo is lazy.

This is going to be rip-off. It's one thing that Ringo has a limited number of his own songs to play that people will actually want to hear, but the other guys in the band certainly do not have a lot of popular songs to mine. My gosh, Black Magic Woman, Kryie, Rosanna, Evil Ways, Africa, et all . . . all over again. If he's going to rehash, then bring back Frampton or Jack Bruce or Dave Edmunds or Simon Kirke or Greg Lake or Ian Hunter or Joe Walsh, at least.

So that band that backed Ringo at the Grammys(the same band that backed him when he got the "Peace And Love Award" recently from David Lynch) is not the new All-Starrs band? That had Peter Frampton, Kenny Aronoff on drums(he doesn't sing meaning Ringo could sing more songs) and some other famous dudes?
I posted two videos from the 1992 tour when Ringo was touring with a very strong All-Starr Band and was touring on the incredible Time Takes Time album. Ringo nails both new songs and the band is red hot.
For me, the 1997 Tour will always be the best with Frampton, Jack Bruce, Gary Brooker, and Simon Kirke(Dave Mason was supposed to be in that band too but quit before the tour started). That was a real supergroup and I saw them in a large Chicago venue, the Rosemont Horizon, which wasn't sold-out like Paul had done for three nights in Dec. 1989, but still had a good, large crowd.
Truth is we have seen essentialy the same Ringo set with just a few exceptions since 1989 so it was always the guests that added that extra excitement! I ended up enjoying the 2010 show, my last, and although I hated being in a casino, it meant I was super close to Ringo, like the second row from stage which was amazing.

I did a Wiki search on Ringo's tours and was surprised to read that Ray Davies was once a part of a tour, but backed out before it began, and that Ginger Baker played on Cream songs on some of the stops in a couple of tours. I never knew that.

I never knew that. LOL, sayne I went there too to get the right spellings and I was freaked at the Ginger Baker cameos but in the back of my mind I think I remember reading about that in RS. I remember Dave Mason backing out in 1997(I mention that above) and was disappointed because that would have been amazing with him in although I can't remember if he ws to be with Frampton or Frampton replaced him? The Ringo Starr and The All-Starrs were once a big deal and I forget that sometimes. If Baker did indeed make some cameos that was huge and we know Bruce Springsteen made a cameo in 1989 when Clarence Clemons was in the band(and maybe Nils Lofgren). I would like to see Ringo get back with his 1960's and 1970's contemporaries but maybe they are getting too old to form a complete, functioning band! Ringo doesn't do much drumming anymore but all of the other All-Starrs must carry their weight instrumentally!

My partner in Beatle crime Sly Rose is getting us two tickets for Ringo in Chicago! Hey you East Coast dudes, don't post Ringo's set without first posting largely "SPOILER ALERT!" I want to be completely surprised by Ringo's choice of songs. I just have no idea what he might play! I would soil my jeans if Ringo opened with "Wrack My Brain!" But don't tell me, I want to be surprised by what he performs!

Although I have been to a multiple number of Paul's shows, I have never been to any of Ringo's shows. How long are Ringo's shows on the average?

Normal length, maybe 90 minutes because other musicians sing too.
Each year when Ringo asks the crowd, "What's my name?!" I try to come up with new responses.
Back in 1989 I played along and yelled "Ringo" because that was the first time he did it. Next tour was "Pete Best!," next tour "Ognir Ratts!" next tour "Billy Shears" and last tour "Richard Starkey!"
What do I yell back this summer 2014 when I see Ringo?

I don't recall if Ringo did it every time I saw him, but whatever. It's fun, so I wouldn't mind. And every one of the 7 or so times I've seen him since 1989, I was accompanied by at least one or more newbies who'd never seen Ringo before, so it was new to them. You've just given me an idea -- if Ringo asks us his name at the next show, I'm going to shout out: "SNOOKEROO!!!" He might get a kick out of that, but I'll wait until after the crowd all yell "Ringo!" first, so he can hear it alone. I'll bet he'd comment on that if he heard it.

Will be taking my Lovely Linda to see Ringo at Westbury on her birthday, June 11. I'll be in Section G, Row Q, Joe. See you then and this weekend at the Beatles Convention!

One question though -- I thought sections B and G were not in use for the Ringo show? I understood the seating as sections B, C, D, E, F, G -- but that the two ends were not in use? (This was what happened the last time I saw The Monkees there last year). For what it's worth, I'll be in Section D , Row Q .

My ticket says Section G, so I'm guessing the stage will be in full rotation for Ringo. I believe Westbury doesn't rotate the stage at the request of the artists, which was done for the Monkees and Brian Wilson. I think because of Michael Nesmith's earlier eye problems the stage was kept stationary so as not to disorient him.

You are taking your long-suffering Linda to the cheaper Ringo concert but did not take her to the much more expensive, and in demand, Macca gig in 2013, the concert all women wanted to see! Actually, that is a brilliant move Freddy that should be copied by every red-blooded male out there! In college I would always break up with girlfriends right before Christmas and make up the week after Valentines! You know I am kidding you OldFred! You are the man!

I forgot about that! I was leaning to: Ringo Starr in Chicago: "What's my name?! JSD(Version 1): Paul McCartney's sideman! JSD(Version 2): Not even the best drummer in the Beatles I think I'll steal your idea Joe because I don't want trouble with the Ringo Mafia!

WTF! Sly Rose texted me that tickets for 2014 Ringo are $100.00 each! Really?! Is that Mister Misty guy still with them? What the hell Ringo?!
$100.00 to hear Ringo's same set since 1989! I don't know, Ringo is starting to get too expensive. Oldies and Moldies shows should be about $50 to $75 at the most and only if they have had a hit in the last 10 years.

Agree with you on ticket prices, to an extent. On the other hand, since Father Time is moving on for all of us, I'm thinking I'd like to see Ringo one last time (at least). I didn't see the last tour, so this group of All-Starrs would still be somewhat new to me (and we can always fantasize that Ringo will mix up "his" song selection). That said, does anyone know if the tour list is complete (or will he be adding additional venues/cities at a later date)? I was hoping he would be coming to Colorado, but I'm also considering making a trek to another city.

The best All Stars band for me is the one that Roger Hodgson was a part of...
The All Star band i saw in 2013 wasn't too bad though, it just didn't have Roger..

I am a chump for paying $100 for a Ringo and All-Starr concert. Oh man, I bet "Boys" will sound better than the last 10 times I have seen it live! Who is in the band, the Hanson brothers?

Aw come on, John -- gee whiz, man. Naturally I also wish Ringo would change up the set list (who knows, he still might) but you just need to look at it as a fun night out seeing one of The Beatles. Is it really so bad going once every two years or more, getting to spend an evening in the same arena with Ringo, even if it's not a brand new set list? We're lucky Ringo's so vital for his age and looking good and still doing this at any rate. We have become incredibly spoiled. Savor these opportunities, repetitive though they may seem. Pretty soon we will no longer have these opportunities. I'm saying there are far worse ways to spend an evening.

I was looking at the ticket sales for Ringo's 2014 Tour and according to Ticketmaster, in a few places like Chicago, Atlantic City, and Westbury they say there's no ticket available right now and there are a few places where there's not many tickets left. The publicity from Ed Sullivan Show 50th anniversary is helping ticket sales.

That's good news, Sally.
I was just playing GOODNIGHT VIENNA recently and thought that the tracks "Goodnight Vienna" and also "Snookeroo" are two songs that Ringo should really consider adding to his set. At least one of them.

I feel the time is right here to write out the dream Ringo setlist for 2014 realizing it is an All-Starr concert with other artists who will perform too.
I need to think on this but I know I want "Don't Go Where The Road Don't Go" back in the set and while of course I want "It Don't Easy," I want Ringo drumming during it like at Bangladesh, that was awesome even if he forgot some lines! That was part of the charm, very early 1970's!
Ringo only drums on his old Beatles covers like "Boys." I want him drumming just a little more on his songs. That doesn't seem unreasonable as he is our favorite drummer!
