Y I need to see if CBS is selling a DVD of this program. It was a keeper in my book. They aren't, not now anyway.

I missed the show because I was busy at the Fest in NY, but I will likely be getting a copy. I guess it will appear on Youtube as well. It sounds like it went over well from all I've heard.

Sean had them all beat. He played in the Sullivan Theater, where it all happened.

Steve's right, there aren't any DVD's of last night's program yet. JSD and Joe, I checked on CBS's web site and they don't have the full special uploaded yet and they only have clips. Usually they have programs posted 6 hours or so after they are aired. I also checked on You Tube and no one has uploaded it to You Tube yet.

Anyone catch Ringo's lyric change on Matchbox?
Instead of "When your big dog gets here, see your little dog run", Ringo sings "When your big dog gets here, show him what your little dog done".

Just watched the entire special and it was absolutely great. Almost all of the performances were top notch (except, maybe, for Katy Perry, whose "Yesterday" was a little weak.) I'm hoping for a full fledged CD release.

I'm hoping for a full fledged CD release. I agree about Katy Perry. Don't get me wrong. I'm a Katy Kat all the way. The song just didn't suit her. She did all of her standard singing go to yells but it didn't fit the song. I'm surprised she was there. When she was on Graham Norton with Paul, she told him she liked Ram On, sort of like it was the only song of his she really knew. Paul kind of mumbled "Yeah, that's a short one". I thought Maroon 5 was the best. Ticket to Ride rocked. I'm surprised. I'm not much of a fan of theirs, Adam Levine or the band.

I think there would be a brisk market for the commercial release of the DVD for this show. I bet there was more Letterman interviews of Paul and Ringo not shown that could be part of the extras.

sayne, did you get into any of the camera shots? No shots. Since this wasn't technically a concert, but rather a TV show, they weren't allowing any of us heathens in the back take pictures. There were people around me who got aggressively yelled at by security when told to put there phone away, "PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY OR I"LL TAKE IT FROM YOU!" They could have said nicely, "Excuse me, but phones aren't allowed," but no. It was "do as I say and say it now." And, we paid for our tickets, unlike the elites up front. Would have liked to see them pull that one on Sean. Plus, I was too far back for my IPhone.

It was interesting to see what was edited out. For example, when Stevie Wonder said that he wanted to "funk" up We Can Work it Out, what they cut out was that he said, "Not that it needed it." When Jeff Bridges spoke about watching them on TV, what they left out was that he actually got to see them in person when the Beatles went to a house that was across the street from him. I don't remember, but I think he said that the Beatles were impressed with Lloyd Bridges because of Sea Hunt. I can't swear to that, though. Paul also did the "boy thing" then the "girl thing" on Hey Jude, but they cut that out.
Also, I was glad to see clips of interviews with some of the women who were in the audience 50 years ago. They did not show those to us. Also, if you notice, when Letterman was interviewing Paul and Ringo, one of them said something funny and you can hear audience laughter. Well, they were not in front of an audience, and that clip was never played for us, so it wasn't us laughing.

Forget it. Sure, it would be a brisk market, I also think -- but instead of some half-ass commercial release, I can't wait to obtain this from my favorite underground DVD dealer... complete with cover, menus, chapters, and I'm sure a ton of extras of rehearsals and behind the scenes stuff that we didn't even know existed. An official commercial DVD release would never be as extensive.

TV Ratings: Sochi Olympics Draw Big on Sunday, CBS' Beatles Special Strong in Second NBC’s Sochi Games earned gold on Sunday night, while CBS’ tribute to The Beatles took the silver in ratings and viewers.
NBC was first in ratings with a 6.9 rating/18 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, and first in viewers with an average of 25.4 million, according to preliminary numbers. The Winter Olympics was the network’s only primetime programming.
CBS was second in ratings with a 1.7/4 and in viewers with 11.6 million. At 7 p.m., “60 Minutes” got a 1.2/3 — down 40 percent from the last original to a season low — and 9.5 million viewers. At 8, “The Night that Changed America: Grammy Salute to the Beatles” earned a 2.1/5 and 14 million viewers.
Joe Karlosi Adds: (And you know That can't be bad!) So what's the problem, John S. Damm?

Sayne, too bad you didn't get into any shots, but you got quoted a lot in my house during the airing - i kept telling my husband " 'my' guy who was there said [this, that, or the other] about this song." So thanks for letting me brag on you! I think it was great that someone from the Board was there!

I finally saw the CBS Special, and I thought it was FABULOUS! I liked very much that they constantly cut to shots of Paul, Ringo, Olivia, Yoko, and Sean all during the song tributes. I loved seeing Yoko getting up and dancing during Ringo's set!
Paul and Ringo were GREAT! Both in strong form and great voice. Paul has really gotten way better with the vocals in past years, especially on the more rocking songs.

Finally got to see and record the entire special. I thought it was great. The performances were terrific and it was wonderful to see Paul and Ringo together and most of the Beatles' families. I hope they'll release this on DVD with bonus features.

Watching the re-broadcast, I was still very impressed and excited about Ringo's performances but I noticed a lot more strain in Paul's vocals particularly "Hey Jude." Sunday night I was giddy as a school girl.
Still it was a nice job for a guy his age and it was much better than the Olympics Opening.
Yoko should have been asked to redo her singing role in "Birthday." That would have been cool.

I was amazed at Ringo's enthusiam at the celebration. he was like a little kid jumping around and having a ball! I also noticed how enthusiastic Yoko was at the Ringo/Paul portion of the concert. Dancing with Barbara Bach's sister at one point. Wish she had been that enthusiastic about The Beatles music during the sessions for the White Album, Let It Be, and Abbey Road back in the late 60's....... It is too bad Paul & Ringo didn't call Sean and Dhani up on the stage to join them for one Beatle song. Would have been a priceless momen with the audience in tears...

Dhani had his own mic and was onstage at the end of "Hey Jude" and that thrilled me. I kind of wish Paul would have specifically called that front row family group up as "Hey Jude" went into the fade-out. They could have stood around his piano and sang along!
