From Sunday night's Family Guy, Stewie is looking at Brian's phone. "Oh my god, who Shizams the Beatles?"
FYI, Shizam is a phone app that tells you the name of a song, gives you lyrics and suggest songs from similar artists.

Heard a baseball commentator refer to the Mets pitching rotation of "the new Fab Four" and say New York hasn't seen such excitement from a group of four young men in a baseball stadium "since the Beatles rocked Shea".

Heard a baseball commentator refer to the Mets pitching rotation of "the new Fab Four" and say New York hasn't seen such excitement from a group of four young men in a baseball stadium "since the Beatles rocked Shea". The San Francisco Giants used that "Fab Four" phrase all season and had a commercial with the Beatles voices on it.

Tonight's Hawaii Five-0, the closing song was Ringo's Island in the Sun, from his latest Postcards From Paradise album. How cool is that?

I had a pleasant surprise last night (Monday). There is a long running music TV show here in Australia called Rage. It's on the ABC, which I suppose is our version of the BBC, or Public Broadcasting in the U.S. Anyway, they played five of the newly restored Beatles promotional films. They started off with Revolution, then Hello, Goodbye, followed by Penny Lane.... I haven't bought the DVD/BR's yet,or looked at anything from the net, so it was the first time I've seen them.

Kohl's Department store has aired a commercial using All Together Now, using a hashtag AllTogetherNow. There's no real tie-in to the ad, just a feel good vibe.

Here in the UK we were treated to "The Nation's Favourite Beatles Number One" by ITV last week. It featured clips of many of the videos on '1' and Hey Jude came out at number 1. Here's David Tennant (Dr. Who) putting on a fake Scottish accent whilst he talks about the Beatles in a clip.

So Stavros, that's a fake Scottish accent? I wouldn't know, being a dumb Yank... But thanks for the clip!

A true Scottish accent in so thick, they can't even understand each other.

So Stavros, that's a fake Scottish accent? I wouldn't know, being a dumb Yank... But thanks for the clip! Tee hee. That was just me being mischievous. David Tennant is in fact a genuine 100% bonafide Scotsman. But he was asked to drop his natural accent to play Dr. Who. He actually only became a Beatles fan a few years ago after leaving Dr. Who. If you want to hear a fake accent from those born outwith Caledonia. Then here's a wee hint for you laddie. Mr. Scott from Star Trek is a prime example. Both Canadian James Doohan or Englishman Simon Pegg (in the more recent Trek films) and Australian Mel Gibson in Braveheart have all had a go with varying degrees of success.

From November 3rd's Limitless, the main character looks at the camera and says, "I quote John Lennon, 'A Dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality'. After all, he was the Walrus".

I'm watching Inside Edition from last night and it has comedian Amy Schumer posing in her underwear for next year's Pirelli calendar. In top hat, cane and skimpy panti-bottom, is October's Yoko Ono.

Entertainment Tonight explained it as strong women who inspire. The photographer was Annie Leibowitz. On the same ET, Will Farrell says he took his kids to the Super Bowl a couple of years ago and they had a great time. "We got to be on the field and we sat in the same suite as Sir Paul McCartney. But they could care less. They didn't know who Paul McCartney was."

Well, this is not Beatles on TV but it's Beatles in the Media. A few days ago, 1 across in the crossword in the newspaper, had the clue, "Beatle Paul's first wife".

Wow, the CNN special tonight on John's murder was all about his killer and little on John. It was sickening how many images we see of the killer and hear him speak.
The killer must be sitting in his cell gloating at all the publicity and the show replays recordings of the killer himself and he is one smug son-of-bitch!
And how his wife was not prosecuted is beyond me. When he aborted the murder in November 1980 and went home, he showed her the gun, the five bullets he would later use and told her what he had tried to do. Then a few weeks later he goes back and does it yet she called no one, made no effort to tip off authorities.
The talking heads on this CNN show all conclude that the killer did it for fame, not that he was insane. So dedicate a whole show to him, you idiots at CNN.

One can only hope the scumbag has no TV privileges when it comes to programs like the CNN story aired. That should be a part of his sentence; no opportunity to see any publicity on the crime he committed.

I hope you are right LB, and I especially hope he wasn't being visited by his wife for those stupid conjugal visits he gets and that they had a TV! That awful woman with blood on her hands was shown a lot and we heard her voice a lot just like the killer. I never want to see their images or hear their voices again after an hour of that last night. I was thinking to the end the show would switch over and pay tribute to John but it was a killer-centric show! That's why I mentioned the show here and not in the John tribute Thread so not to soil it!

Apparently there is a new number 1 Christmas song, knocking Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas is You down to number 2. It's Wonderful Christmas Time. Not by Wings but by the Shins. It sounded a bit muddled from the snippet Inside Edition played. Billboard Magazine doesn't back this up though. Maybe it will be there next week. Although this may only be songs played in stores.
IE goes on to say Paul's version of Wonderful Christmas Time brings in between $400,000 and $600,000 a year.

Good Morning America Weekend announced a Christmas present for Beatles' fans. The fab four is joining the streaming music revolution next Thursday, Christmas Eve. The launch will also include a Beatles' Christmas message. Billboard proclaims it the rebirth of Beatlemania. Dialog between the four newscasters: Ron Claiborne: "Favorite Beatles song?" Dan Harris: "Dear Prudence, from the White Album. Underrated album." Sara Haines: "Imagine." Dan: "Not a Beatles song. A John Lennon song." Sara: "Close enough." Paula Faris: "I was going to say Imagine too". Ron: "Norwegian Wood." Dan: "Norwegian Wood, from Rubber Soul. Great album! I'm a Star Wars fan but I'm an even bigger Beatles' fan! If you want to put that on your Christmas list, that's not a bad thing to do for me." Steve has the story but the ads wouldn't let me on the site this morning. www.examiner.com/article/report-beatles-music-heading-to-many-streaming-services-for-christmas

I find these tribute things sad. Where are John's contempories? Shouldn't Paul and Dylan be headlining with Mick and Keef? So many (all) of these young performers never even met him.
Imagine how many more classics Lennon might have left us if he didn't leave so early. Not the first to think that, sorry.

There is a web story on Saturday Night Live from last night that mentions Paul McCartney's appearance. It condemned him for being on the show and not showing up for the 75 Birthday tribute. Paul doesn't need to go to every little rinky-dink commemoration that comes up. 75th birthday? The show was good, though. A lot better than similar shows have been. Some really rockin' songs. Spoon's Hey Bulldog was a highlight for me.

Imagine how many more classics Lennon might have left us if he didn't leave so early. Not the first to think that, sorry. That's why the Dylan 35th Anniversary show was so great and the Concert for George (would have been better if Dylan and Leon Russel could/would have made it.) Most Beatles tribute shows are lame for the same reason above. With all due respect, who really wants to hear the likes of Adele, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy, or most any other post-1990s artist perform a Beatles or solo-Beatles song? I do give props when someone like Shelby Lynne or Christina Aguilera do Mother, but a whole concert of newbies doing the songs does nothing for me. I think I'll start a new thread on this topic.

The Beatles are getting a lot of TV press for their entering the streaming service market.
CBS This Morning points out that they began selling their music on iTunes back in 2010 and they sold 450,000 albums and 2,000,000 songs in the first week alone.
They segued into the next story with "It was a Long and Winding Road for Juanita the Duck too...".

Good Morning America Weekend just ran a story on Justin Bieber and mentioned he had beat the Beatles record of having 14 songs in Billboard's Hot 100 by placing 17 songs. I hadn't heard this. I'd heard when Drake tied the record. So I searched the story and found this. isina.com/live/188/bieber-bests-beatles-chart-recordApparently this happened back in November. But he only tied the three songs in the top 5 record shared by Drake and the Beatles.

The streams continue to generate a lot of excitement. CBS Overnight News last night did story on the on-line interactive Abbey Road Studios site. Andrew Mueller says flying all the way to the pole for a picture was a bit of a sweat so they just went outside and took their picture on the crossing and called the album Abbey Road (and had done with it). They played the I Saw Her Standing There version with Paul's vocals sounding kind of swarmy. Pink Floyd, Sam Smith and Amy Winehouse with Tony Bennett all got a mention as recording there.
They played a few notes on the piano used on Penny Lane and Lady Madonna. "If fans can tour the building on-line, maybe they won't need to come down and write stuff all over our walls."
Good Morning America had a story on the Beatles. It focused on the surprise that Come Together was the most popular song being streamed. CBS This Morning pretty much had the same story but as reported by Rolling Stone.
I also saw an ad for the Beatles streaming for Tidal with their albums and photos flashing by. A cool ad that starts with an old time console stereo. It also has cassettes unraveling and an old model CD player, scuffed up and looking ancient. All the while, Revolution is playing. So they are making the case that streaming is the modern format and they are using a 50 year old song to do it.
