I have an awesome pair of Skechers boots to wear when I walk my dog whether on the trails or in the snow. They are made of leather. Don't tell Macca!
And I want to analyze the following statement from the Skechers President as reported by Steve:
“We are incredibly excited to be working with such an amazing world-renowned artist as Ringo Starr,” Skechers president Michael Greenberg said.
Translation: Ringo is an ex-Beatles. Ringo's album sales and critical acclaim for his music has not been amazing since about 1973.
“Ringo possesses the charm, cool charisma and instant global recognition that will elevate awareness for our popular Relaxed Fit footwear collection both in the United States and especially around the world."
I need to insert here Ringo's website video where he said "no more autographs" as to the charm and cool charisma! And this guy has it backwards, Ringo's biggest following is in the U.S. and not, "especially around the world." In fact in the Middle East they will think the image in the ad is of Yasser Arafat and that will either spark praise or violent riots.
"And his recent modeling gig with a high-end designer shows Ringo is not only a music icon, but also a style icon."
Oh did Ringo get conned into a Stella McCartney event? Hadn't heard that.
"As we move from the sports world to the music world with this campaign, Ringo is the perfect ambassador to illustrate how our comfortable footwear helps keep you relaxed in any situation.”
That means Bono, Kanye and every other contemporary male Rock Star said no before they finally got a yes from Ringo to do the ad! Does that also mean these are "old men" shoes with the Velcro straps?
