Any bracketology people here? I did not do one this year. My team, the UCLA Bruins, ended up being a very controversial invite to the tourney. I'm glad they are in, but I would have been very understanding if they were left off. I saw a "one and done" before today's lucky win.
Who's your team and who is in your Final Four and ultimate winner? I hear that 90% of all brackets were busted today after Iowa State's loss.

Louisville's Denny Crum came from there. He studied under Wooden during Wooden's 10 year reign at the top. I have them getting passed SMU but falling to Iowa State. Iowa State is out of it. Maybe they can take UAB.

I can't get into it with my boys getting penalized so harshly. Hell they gave Joepa his wins back-all he did was cover up for a monster!!!

I.U. is out. They were bums on Friday, like they were most of February and early March. We need a new coach.

I figure with 1-3 subpar years (for UCLA, that means no National Championships), he could be out. He should, at least, be given a chance to recruit and bring in his guys so the team is a true reflection of himself, but then he's got to put up or shut up. What's the sentiment out your way? Is Alford a face people see in the distance coming home eventually?

They need some taller players and guys who will stay and play for four years before turning pro. We need someone to knock Kentucky out now, so Indiana's 1976 Undefeated Team stays as the last team to go a whole season undefeated and who won the NCAA National Title. Starting Five; Tom Abernathy, Bobby Wilkerson, Scotty May, Kent Benson, & Quinn Buckner

Steve Alford is an absolute hero here for his high school career and the I.U. 1987 National Championship but I think a majority of us hope that he does not come back as Head Coach for I.U. He has had a spotty coaching career and they absolutely hate him in Iowa. Our dream Coach would be Brad Stevens, now Celtics Head Coach, formerly Butler University's Coach who miracuously coached Butler to two consecutive NCAA Championship Games. Rumors are rampant here that his family is unhappy in Boston and the NBA is a different gig than the NCAA. He was/is interested in I.U. It would cost I.U. $9 million to fire Tom Crean right now and buy out his contract. I think it drops to $4 million after the 2015/2016 seasan. I.U. super-alumni and rabid basketball fan and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is said to be growing impatient with I.U. Basketball. Rumors are flying that he would reimburse I.U. the 9 million dollars if it fired Crean! I will say we made Wichita State work harder Friday than Kansas did today!

Well the Ville just took down N Iowa. They were ranked 5, we were a 4 seed. We won with a 13 point margin. I got us beating Kentucky in the final in my bracket.

Is Alford a face people see in the distance coming home eventually? I was worried the moment Alford took that UCLA job. He is so non-LA! He has always had his dad on his staff and now I see he has got his son as a starter(I must admit that I don't know much about the kid but I am largely suspicious at the college level when the Coach's son starts, I remember Pat Knight at I.U.). But make no mistakes, when it comes to basketball, Alford is a ruthless little bastard. He was a gritty, tough player who overcame lack of speed and jumping prowess with mental toughness and just downright mean play(oh and a great jumpshot but he had to fight to get open). He can talk trash and get in opponents heads as well as anyone despite his conservative Christian upbringing or maybe because of it! But UCLA, you are right sayne, Alford has a small window to win a National Championship even if that is not realistic for UCLA. The Powers-that-be there still demand it and no Coach there can think tenure. There must have been some joy that UCLA made it to the Sweet 16! A temporary reprieve for Alford! P.S. lowbasso, that is a great reunion photo of the 1976 I.U. starters especially as Coach Knight is in the photo. It looks like they gathered during the 2013 NCAA Tournament in Atlanta? I had no idea that happened. As you know lowbasso, Coach Knight has stayed away from I.U. and rarely talks about the school although he speaks in the State of Indiana regularly. That photo was on a neutral site, not Assembly Hall. At the last game of this season(a loss to Michigan State), the 1974/1975 team was honored before the game and as lowbasso knows, he lived and died it, that team was undefeated in the regular season and lost a fierce battle against Kentucky in the NCAA Tourney but Scott May was injured, our best scorer. It was 1975/1976 that I.U. became the last (so far) undefeated National Champions. Coach Knight was not in Bloomington two weeks ago for that tribute but my buddy, a kid who was at IU when lowbasso was, says it was cool. The fans went nuts for those guys.

Yes Alford and Smart got the best of the Orange that fateful day in New Orleans, but I was able to spend several years enjoying watching Sherman Douglas, Rony Seikaly and Derrick Coleman continue to play in above average NBA careers. Yes that's ALL I HAVE TO GRAB ONTO FOR THAT.

'76 Hoosier record is safe for one more year. Thank you Wisconsin! Beat Duke now! I knew lowbasso would be thrilled that evil Kentucky(well its Coach) lost preserving I.U.'s record! Lowbasso, I am going beyond that, I am citing Wisconsin's victory over Kentucky as objective proof of the existence of God!

Well damn, I wanted Wisconsin to win because it is a Big 10 team. But I like Coach K, a player and then assistant coach for I.U.'s Bob Knight.
I am just thrilled though that Kentucky did not win it all! From riots at Lexington, players not shaking hands after the loss to Wisconsin and then the profaner slur by a Wildcat against Kaminsky, Kentucky has no class!
