It is amazing to me that Julian never made it long term. He chose not to exploit his father and perhaps he was content to go low.
This song he is performing around his late 30s. He looks like his father on the Sir Lew Grade special. Just wanted to post this, and I just heard him cover Slippin and Sliddin with Jools Holland. Another great one.

I wish Julian was more active musically. Of all the Beatle kids who make music, Julian is my favorite hands down. He is an enigma, Mike! I wish he was more successful and happy because he is talented.
That video Mike posted is awesome, a great live performance of a great song!
I like Sean second most. He has some fantastic music. But both Lennon boys have been kind of weird and off-putting to the general music public limiting their music careers. Julian suffered with that early fame as he was marketed as a mix between John Lennon and David Cassidy and once that bubble burst it was hard for him to recover. After watching the great video for "Day After Day," YouTube had next up Julian doing "Day Tripper" live from his 1984 or 1985 tour. God it is awful, it is what John Lennon would have looked like prancing around like Mick Jagger! Julian never recovered from shit like that.
Sean is too precocious for his own good.
But no matter, the Lennon boys are light years better in my opinion than Dhani Harrison who has made a career of making esoteric and boring music and James "Big Mac" McCartney who started way too late and who sounds like he is being pushed into this by his overbearing family and simply going through the motions.

This is the show where I saw Sean perform with his band. I was standing right next to the professional camera-it is a pretty cool set up where people watch from the aisles of vinyl. He is talented, but Julian was too. But yes-in the 80s he was marketed all wrong and it all came tumbling down. Had he gone in an REM-Smithereens direction including actually touring with these type of bands he might have been huge. But maybe he just didn't want that kind of fame.

I liked Valotte a lot and I bought Mr Jordan. I don't care about the pop star image thing. I just haven't heard anything that made me want to buy more music from him. At some point, I'll get everything I've missed. ©Getty ImagesI like Dhani the best; his thenewno2 albums, not so much Fistful of Mercy. I like Sean's solo stuff as well as The Claypool Lennon Delirium. Nothing from the Ghost of the Saber Tooth Tiger comes to mind. I probably did not show it the attention it needed. I like James's stuff. It's a little too much on the pop side but it has an alt feel to it I like.

I saw Julian live all those years ago when he toured the Valotte album with Justin Clayton as his guitarist.

I saw Julian live all those years ago when he toured the Valotte album with Justin Clayton as his guitarist. I did too when he pranced around the stage in the sleeveless UK Flag tee-shirt during "Day Tripper." I thought back then that was the closest I would ever get to seeing a Beatle, in this case a Beatle son. Ringo was braindead from alcohol and Paul was braindead from Broadstreet back then. I was pretty sure George would never tour the U.S. although he almost did I guess when he toured Japan. I shouldn't have worried as both Paul and Ringo tour to our hearts' content.

It's often overlooked by Brits/Americans that Julian's "Saltwater" (1991) single hit #1 in Australia (for four weeks) and #6 in the UK (it didn't make the Hot-100 in the USA). Its parent-album, Help Yourself, also did well Down Under at #5.
