Steve reports at Billboard that Paul kicked off the New Year playing at least two songs at an exclusive NYE party. www.billboard.com/articles/news/7640621/paul-mccartney-the-killers-helter-skelter-new-years-eveSounds cool but as Steve goes on to report, this bash was hosted by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, an oil magnet, sometime politician and Moscow insider. Yeah he is from that same Russia that has just incurred the wrath of President Obama and other American politicians from both Parties and the same Russia that progressives are furious at for helping to derail Hillary Clinton's Presidential run with hacks and releases of embarrassing material. I am not thrilled by Paul's decision in this climate to party with this oilman and indeed get up and play. Paul has a history though of fawning over Putin that would make Donald Trump blush: it is painful to watch now those clips from the St. Petersburg documentary of Paul and Heather praising Putin. Not a good start to 2017 for Paul by hanging out with and performing for a Russian insider with strong ties to Putin.

Worse than that Abramovich lives in here, in England, in London and owns Chelsea Football Club!!! Although he also owns homes across the globe he spends a lot of his time in the UK. Abramovich is close to Putin that is for sure. But I am not sure how 'guilty by association' this will make Paul seem. Most people will not even be aware of the story. Even those that are will probably associate Abramovich with Chelsea FC here in the British Isles.

Funny how Paul and other celebrities get a pass on hanging with these Russian oligarchs(I am being polite and don't want to be murdered myself) while the Left in America and elsewhere slam whatever ties they perceive Trump to have with these same people.
Not cool for Paul to hang with dudes like this.

Not cool for Paul to hang with dudes like this. I thought it was the right that didn't like the commies. The "left" do not all speak with one mind. People think differently on different subjects and rightly so. Putin's support of Assad is Syria maybe the best thing for the area. With the loss of Saddam Hussein in Iraq, the mid-east needs these heavy-handed, murderous leaders. I say this as someone who thinks of himself as a left-wing liberal. Obama was working with Putin to target ISIL. Apparently many left-wingers voted for Trump. (Not me! )

I thought it was the right that didn't like the commies. That was true until this past Election in this country! I am just sad that Macca associates with this Oil Baron to maintain his perceived status as one of "The Beautiful People."

The friend of my enemy is my enemy. The enemy of my friend is my enemy. Can we all please stop creating enemies? Doesn't mean one has to approve of what everyone does. Doesn't mean one has to like everyone. But, my gosh, we seem to always look for faults in people and question every little thing they do. It's going to get worse this year, but I'm going to do my best not to join in.
I don't think this NYE performance means anything in regards to where Paul stands politically. Now, if he were to play a private performance for Putin . . .

Apparently 'The Rolling Stones' and 'Guns and Roses' were also there at this NYE bash according to the Daily Telegraph linked in the original RS story, Sir Paul McCartney joins stars in St Barts leaving bad weather and travel chaos behind as Roman Abramovich hosts Rolling Stones NYE party linkI am not sure that is true ('Fake News?) as there seems no one else confirming at the moment. It's probably also true that Britain is less politically sensitive to Paul playing at this bash. We don't have as much beef with the Russians as the US (unless we find out they engineered Brexit!. Abramovich is seen but never heard when he's in the UK. So his political ties are rarely discussed. Now if Paul was playing at the Kremlin that would be entirely different. But I think this story has remained completely below the radar and remained 'entertainment news' and nothing else over here. "Oil You Need is Love"

I read about McCartney playing this event here. It's not in the press at all.
I don't think the average American cares about Russia, one way or the other. We voted for Trump because we are afraid of ISIL. Obama's targeted approach doesn't seem to be stopping the nut cases from shooting up our malls. We forget this kind of thing was happening long before anyone heard of ISIS or joined the Islamic party. Trump promises to cut a wider swath.
Oh yeah. And Trump's funny. Probably a bigger reason why he got elected.

Speaking of Paul hanging out with powerful and/or wealthy people, Paul will be at Obama's final white House party. Paul towing the PC Line again. Uggghh. PC? I didn't think that term existed anymore. What can't you do/say and still get elected? More likely Paul just agrees with Obama's political stands on the big issues of the world today. Now that you mention it, maybe playing for that Russian guy was a PC move.

I want to see Michelle Obama roll her eyes again when Paul speaks mock French to her and croaks, and I mean croaks, the song "Michelle." The First Lady will give that laser glare of hers to the President that just screams out, "Who the hell invited him again!" Ugh, really Barack, Paul McFartney again?! And I have to sit through Springsteen, telling us, "I need quiet!"

You don't know what happens. If she doesn't want to be in the spotlight, I suspect Paul won't release pics of him hugging her just because certain people think it shows he doesn't care for her if he doesn't.

I just hope that Heather is being encouraged to get the professional help she clearly needs because hiding away like a modern Miss Havisham is not right! Linda would be very proactive in this regard but that is the problem, Linda is gone.

Can you clarify what condition she has that would need to be addressed with professional help? I really don't know. Isn't it possible that she's not so much a recluse, but a very private person living the nice quiet life that works for her. Isn't that kinda what George did?

MEH-just a dad hugging his daughter. Personally I wouldn't hug my adult daughter in a bathing suit, but he is wrapping a towel around her-a parent move for sure. Now if it were Nancy's doppelganger, his daughter Mary....

The Howard Sounes book FAB: An Intimate Life of Paul McCartney has a chapter on Heather Louise and it is sad, she suffers from some form of mental illness and is said to be an actual recluse. Linda McCartney, per the book, ensured that Heather had real estate titled in her name only and not in any way tied to Paul and Linda or MPL. She is thus not beholden to even her family, her home is her castle as it should be. I wish her well, it must be tough on her with a family who loves the limelight. Heather and Mary

Heather and Mary That is an...um great picture of Heather and Nancy... It was a more recent photo of Heather and admittedly this looks old as Mary looks so much younger than today. Mary's body language is interesting, arms crossed as big Sis awkwardly puts her arm around Mary's shoulder. Heather's facial expression is not unlike what we have seen from Heather Mills at times. Google Image the McCartneys and there are many, many lovely pictures of Paul with Mary, Stella and James in the past 17 years at various events where they are all dressed up so lovely and looking good and Heather Louise's absence seems all the more conspicuous. I understand someone not liking the spotlight and avoiding it but for about 17 to 18 years Heather Louise has completely avoided all such public family gatherings. But going back to the photo of Paul and Stella, that does not bother me at all. Now if Paul and Stella were locked in an open-mouth kiss with tongues a twirling together, I might be weirded out yet Indiana is right above Kentucky so we are not altogether unprepared for such displays!

I don't know what to make of that photo of Heather and Mary.
It seems to want to explain why Heather is a recluse.
