1. ELP – Fanfare For The Common Man - compilations 2. Yes – Owner Of A Lonely Heart – Close to The Edge 3. Moody Blues – Nights In White Satin – Days Of Future Passed
Unfortunately, my knowledge of all three of these is sparse. I genuinely love ELP's version of Aaron Copland's Fanfare For The Common Man. I don't own any of their studio albums though.
Sorry that my answers to the other two acts are routine ones too. Oh well.

Moody Blues - Your Wildest Dreams - In Search of a Lost Chord - I'm not too swift with what's on what album. The first album sounds like a movie soundtrack album from the sixties. I'm not too into it.
Yes - Owner of a Broken Heart - Again, I don't know many of the albums. I remember someone brought Fragile to school and it was okay.
ELP - Lucky Man - I know ELP's albums even less. I'll say Pictures at an Exhibition. I think I've heard it before.

Hey I'm a huge Moody Blues fan and my answer was very routine.d Were I to name some non-hit Moody Blues songs, I would go with "For My Lady", "The Tide Rushes In", and "Twilight Time".

I'm with coach on this one. It's something akin to the fall of western civilization. Or at least a very tragic drop in standards.

I'm with coach on this one. It's something akin to the fall of western civilization. Or at least a very tragic drop in standards. Ironically, I'm hoping for an improvement in standards - as well as the return of civilization. It's easy to feel all alone in that regard when people are generally afraid to speak up in public for fear of getting attacked on places like the Internet ... but that's why the election turned out surprisingly: nobody realized there were people with a different view who were keeping silent. I don't want to stay off topic here for too long but coach brought it up and he started the thread. We have always welcomed the "huddled masses". We are the melting pot with all different types. Religious freedom is a cornerstone of our constitution. This has been our strength. What would the conservative right had said if Hillary had said what Trump said about McCain? What would they have said, if she was the one saying we should be friends with the Russians. But I understand that the left keeps pushing their agenda and expecting that everyone is going along with it. It might have been a good time to stress were we are. The upswing to the economy, the decline in unemployment. Was this a good time to promote the gay agenda? Probably not. It keeps our far left but it loses the middle. I personally don't have a problem with any of the issues but many people side with the conservative view. I've known two people in my life who were gay. This helps decide an election? Even Trump says he'd let Jenner use any bathroom he wanted. The alternative to Trump, Hillary? She had a problem with dealing with negative criticism. She would explain it the first time (she voted for Bush to be able to declare war so he could put immediate pressure on Saddam, she did not vote for the war), then she would say she was wrong, she was sorry, "lets move on". She did that on every negative issue that arose. She should have explained, explained, explained. I agree the press may be skewed to the left but calling it fake news is the most damaging thing a President has ever said. It replaces Reagan's "government is the problem" pronouncement. Trump hears one story on Fox saying that Obama may have initiated spying on the Trump campaign. How else would they know that his people were speaking with the Russians. Trump turns that into a declaration that Obama did order it. Never mind that for Obama to do so he had to have evidence of espionage and a federal judge had to sign off on it. Trump doesn't even know how transparent he is. And attacked on the internet? The internet is so full of right wing trolls cussing everything and spewing their bile that most sites are starting to disable comments when they post a story. That's the right's problem. Intelligent discussion is disrupted by far right-wing nutcases, name calling, instead of discussing the issues (well, you know, people like Trump). They also assume that people who are not solid right-wingers, are left-wing liberals on all issues. It didn't surprise me that there were so many people who weren't on board with everything on Hillary's agenda but it did disappointment me that they thought Trump was a better alternative. I'm done here.

As I said, not everyone agrees with you on that matter. To compare it to the night Lennon got killed is outrageous -- in my opinion. Unlike how gutted I felt the night John was shot, I was rather euphoric on the night of the election.
Well it was the feeling that I had. Not saying anyone else should have felt the same way or anything. But it was the feeling I had-nothing "outrageous" about it. The pain and hurt was (and still is) very real. You are entitled to your own feelings.

We have always welcomed the "huddled masses". We are the melting pot with all different types. Religious freedom is a cornerstone of our constitution. This has been our strength. Right. And of course it should continue. However, just vet first and make sure people are coming here legally. What's the problem? There is no problem - it's just that people twist it into "we are not welcoming the huddled masses". That's the way it used to be done, and we have the right to do that when welcoming people. We've been vetting all along. As a Beatle fan, I think you know how hard it is to get a green card. So now we stop these people. We stop people with Arab/Islamic names like Muhammad Ali Jr. We stop the refugees coming in that we have already offered asylum to. These aren't the people creating terror in the US. The people creating terror, and there are very few, are American citizens who believe we are persecuting Islamics. Precision attacks targeting the individuals who are cutting off heads is the correct approach. (I'm not completely down with the refugees coming in. I say, give them a gun and send them back. But that defeats my point here. ) No. Give me an example of where a Republican has said something that the democrats cried out about but would have let a Democrat slide on. Now there are issues of hypocrisy. If a democrat gets arrested for picking up a gay prostitute, it's not as bad as when it happens a republican who pushes for anti-gay legislation and presents himself as the party of family values. Come on, do you really believe that? It's maybe got more equal since Trump has been elected. After 9/11, Bush invaded the wrong country, because "Sad Damn threatened daddy" and the Democrats still remained civil about it. And PC, things you can't say and still get elected? Pufft. That's gone out the door.

If Hillary was the one saying we should be friends with the Russians, then the Left would be agreeing with her, and the Right would not. This is why I hate politics. When whichever "side" a person happens to favor says this or that, it's deemed 'okay'; but at the same time, if the "other side" had said the exact same thing, it wouldn't be 'okay'. The whole charade is silly. I mean, if Hillary was the one saying we should be friends with the Russians, then the Left would be agreeing with her. It's always about whatever 'side' one is on.

Agree that there are a lot of people who base everything on left/right; conservative/liberal; Democrat/Republican. Not me. I've voted for members of each party (as well as Independents). In this case I just very much dislike Donald Trump. He is just not a good person. I'd say that whether he was a Democrat or Republican. I posted on election night I hope he ends up being a better President than he is a person. After all, there are some really nasty people who are good at their job. (More than a few rock musicians would fall into that category actually!)

Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil - Some Girls (I grew up with Flowers. I really liked it too. I didn't even know it was a "best of" album. Some Girls was more my era. I liked Goats Head Soup too. The Who - With Who Are You out of my current playlists for a while, I'd have to go with My Generation. - The reason I didn't jump on this thread earlier, I don't know much about the Who or the Kinks' albums. For the Who, I have Who's Next, Who Are You, It's Hard, Endless Wire and Thirty Years of Maximum R&B. I know Who Are You the best. I had it when it was new (the later albums too but...). I know Tommy from the movie. I got Quadrophenia used on vinyl. I never could get into it. I'll go with Who Are You, Sister Disco and all. The Kinks - You Really Got Me - I have the dreadful Everybody's in Show Business (I mistakenly got it for Lola), and The Singles Collection. I'll go with the Best Of. Coincidentally, I happened upon a song from Everybody's in Show Business in a "Listen Again" playlist of mine today. At first I thought it might be an early pre-Buckingham/Nicks Fleetwood Mac song, but it was the Kinks, rockin'! I'll have to give the whole album a listen again.

Might be an OK guy to play golf with or something. The sexist, racist, homophobic comments, the spouting off the first thing that comes into his head without thinking, the lies, the insults and making fun of people: all these are things that indicate a not very nice person to me. Hillary is a whole other topic. She has her own "issues" for sure. Now I'm done!

1. ELP – Fanfare For The Common Man - compilations 2. Yes – Owner Of A Lonely Heart – Close to The Edge 3. Moody Blues – Nights In White Satin – Days Of Future Passed Unfortunately, my knowledge of all three of these is sparse. I genuinely love ELP's version of Aaron Copland's Fanfare For The Common Man. I don't own any of their studio albums though. Sorry that my answers to the other two acts are routine ones too. Oh well. LOL, I care so little for these three bands that I can't even play! In fact I despise ELP and Yes!

Check out Dylan doing "Gotta Serve Somebody" live at the 1980 Grammys. It's smokin'! Here is a great quality video of that and Dylan is indeed on fire! I love John Lennon but he was wrong on this song and his self-indulgent "Serve Yourself" is kind of embarrassing. But John ushered in the "Me Generation" really with his, "I just believe in me..." from "God." Here is Bob talking to a concert crowd in Toronto in 1980 and he talks about being booed by left-wing college kids for warning them about the evil of Russia. Now left-wing college kids HATE Russia which I find amusing because as Bob Dylan notes back in 1980, that wasn't always the case!
Hey I'm a huge Moody Blues fan and my answer was very routine.d
I think it's terribly awful that other bands of their ilk (Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd, etc) are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and they are not. They were huge. They had hits, they had gold records, they were extremely popular concert draws, they played all the festivals, and they have longitivity. When FM first started, they were mainstays. It was all about quality back then, not commerce (but they had that, too)
I'm hoping to get tickets to see them when they open the season at the Hollywood Bowl with a full orchestra.

Most Beatles sounding songs from the Rolling Stones, The Who, and The Kinks?
My choices: Rolling Stones: "The Last Time" (I won't count the cover of the Beatles "I Wanna Be Your Man") The Who: "The Kids Are Alright" The Kinks: "I Took My Baby Home"

Rolling Stones: "Ten Thousand Light Years", with the dreamy psychedelia. The Who: "Magic Bus", more for the lyrical content, reminiscent of Magical Mystery Tour The Kinks: "Apeman", well it came up on my iPod today anyway, not at all unbeatlely.
