If "How Do You Sleep" is banned, that is fine with me. I've stated before on here how much I hate the song-and not just because it is about Paul. I just think it is really juvenile and not the least bit clever lyrically. John was capable of much better. Also agree on the "music is a dirge" comment. I do like George's slide guitar, but everything else drags. It is also a subpar Lennon vocal. The last time I listened to this song was a few years ago on John's birthday and it made me incredibly depressed. I've made it a life's goal to never listen to it again. So if it did come on, I would turn it off.
On another note, I heard "Working Class Hero" today and they didn't censor the F word at all. It was quite unusual hearing that not being bleeped out on the radio. Now that song is a powerful Lennon lyric and vocal!!!!!!

It was played at 8:53am EST this morning on "Breakfast With The Beatles".. as part of a segment where the DJ played "songs about other Beatles". Also played were "Back Off Boogaloo" (don't know for sure that it's about Paul), "Sue Me Sue You Blues", "Too Many People" - and then HDYS. I wonder if HDYS would ever get played on its own if not as part of a set with other "Beatles messages" songs? But at least we know it's not banned - YAYYYY!!!! Good, maybe that will break the ice and this Solo Lennon classic featuring 1/2 of The Beatles will get more airplay! On a disturbing note, last week Sirius/XM The Beatles Channel played a song called "I'm In Love" and said it was The Beatles. It most certainly is not and here is the song written by John and Paul but it is not The Beatles! The song was written by Lennon/McCartney but the version played on The Beatles Channel was certainly not by The Beatles as claimed by that station. Some summer intern needs to be fired for that mistake! Here is Wikipedia on the song that was originally recorded by The Fourmost en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27m_in_Love_(Lennon%E2%80%93McCartney_song)

The other day I heard Ringo's "Love Don't Last Long" from his second Solo album Beaucoups of Blues and it was fantastic!
I am sincere in saying Ringo's first two Solo albums need to be plugged a little bit because they were so "out there" on release but Ringo doing Standards and then C&W was way ahead of his time in Rock and Roll for the very early 1970's and these records sound great today in the proper context!

I agree John. The arrangement on Night and Day sounds great, like Frank in his heyday. Beaucoups of Blues is very well done. It shouldn't be considered a novelty album.

I always dismiss Press To Play in my mind but when I actually hear it I am reminded that there are things I really like on it. And many songs we are hearing from the Solo catalog never got much airplay(if any) because they were not the "Single" from their respective albums but they sound terrific on the radio, just like Mark's experience with "Good Times Coming/Feel The SUn" or my experiences with Ringo's "Love Don't Last Long" or Paul's "Single Pigeon" from RRS! Those ex-Beatles still had good commercial ears even if we the public did not!

"Cold Turkey" is a song I have never much cared for, but hadn't ever heard on the radio before. I've heard it on Sirius Radio three times now and it is much worse than I remember. In fact two of those times I've changed the channel before the song is over. The ending goes on and on.
Don't want to be all negative on John though. I've heard "Woman" and "Beautiful Boy" each a couple times and find those even better and more poignant as time goes by.
In addition I continue to be amazed with the fantastic Lennon vocals so many of his songs both Beatles and solo. A few I've heard recently: "Not A Second Time", "When I Get Home", "Run For Your Life", and "Working Class Hero".

I respect your opinion Coach but I too heard the studio version of "Cold Turkey" on The Beatles Channel last week and I thought that it sounded great! I loved every second of it.

I heard the live Cold Turkey with Elephant's Memory an the moaning and screaming lasted forever. Give Peace A Chance on the Toronto album is a bit better as it is a full electric rock band version.

Hey, JSD - I heard "How Do You Sleep" on Beatles Sirius this morning! ;-) Awesome! Keep reporting it friends as I want as much confirmation that NO song is off-limits for this Channel! Has anyone heard Paul's "Big Boys Bickering" with its major drop of the F-bomb?!

Hey gang, we need to apply to The Beatles Channel to introduce our four (4) favorite Beatles/Solo Beatles songs! Those "super-fans" get to give their name and tell some heart-warming stories on why they picked the four songs they did.
You can bet that if I get selected I'll give a shout-out to our Message Board and I will declare my love to Pattie Boyd Harrison Clapton! I might even mention The JSD Postulate or talk about The Mumbo Stomp before playing that classic Macca!
I am going to go for it! We all should!

Ringo birthday today and I heard tons of Ringo both solo and with the Beatles. Quite a difference from Paul's birthday when they claimed they were going to play more McCartney, but when my wife and I were listening we heard less of Paul than anyone else. This brings me to a point that's been made before: Ringo is the big winner from this station. I've heard tons of solo Ringo that I've never heard before. For example I heard "Blindman" (the B side of "BackOff Bugaloo") on consecutive days. I've also been hearing quite a few solo album tracks from George. Just in the past few days I've heard "Marwa Blues", "Be Here Now", and "Deep Blue". On the other hand, John's solo career seems to be condensed to about 10-12 songs. The only non-singles I've heard more than once are "Working Class Hero" and "Beautiful Boy". And with all the material Paul has it has been pretty disappointing to me that I haven't heard more of a variety of his solo stuff. I've probably heard "Band On The Run" (studio or live) just about as many times as the rest of Paul's solo work combined (not really true, but I exaggerate to make a point). I was hoping this station would expose Paul's great latter day solo stuff to Beatles fans who've ignored it, but I've yet to hear anything from FLAMING PIE or CHAOS AND CREATION and very little from MEMORY ALMOST FULL or NEW. I did hear "Heather" yesterday and my wife commented on how much she liked it, so there is hope, but overall the John and Paul solo choices have been a disappointment.

Johnny, I did hear Big Boys Bickering last Sunday and it was actually the first time I'd heard it. Wow, thanks Mark for that report! I am glad to hear that! I join CoachBK in calling upon The Beatles Channel to play more later day Paul and certainly more varied Solo John!! BTW, I still have not heard "Mumbo!" And don't you hate when you turn on The Beatles Channel and it is an overplayed song! Today I had a hard day at the office, a couple contentious court hearings, normal grind, so when I hop in the car I want to hear something awesome and I got(for the millionth time) "Your Mother Should Blow!"

Oh man, this morning I turn on my car radio, set to The Beatle Channel, and I get "A Taste Of Honey!!"
Bad start to the day! I get back in my car after running an errand and bam, "Ob La Di, Ob La Da!"
The Pepperland Gods are conspiring against me!
JoeK, I agree with you that the Ron Howard segment was annoying and his song choices pedestrian! And I was excited that you heard, and liked, "Heather!" I had not thought about that but I suppose any song Paul wrote for Heather Mills could have been banned from rotation!
I am glad that they are apparently not!
By the way, I FINALLY heard newer Paul with "Appreciate" from the New album.

Another "Friend at Work" story from me: I was talking with Ron at work today and he said "You know who's going to benefit from this (Beatles') channel? Ringo! I'm hearing a whole lot of songs from him I'd never heard before. This is going to open up a new career for him!" I asked if he liked what he'd heard. He said "Yeah. Some of it is pretty good!"

I just thought of ONE Beatles song I have not heard yet - "Run For Your Life". Anyone else hear that yet? The PC Police have been ganging up on that one lately on various Beatles discussions. Not to worry Joe, I have heard it at least twice but you are right to be concerned that some may view it as a homage to domestic violence. In that same vein, I heard "Little Child" a day or so ago and I have always worried about the modern interpretation of that! Hey, even our beloved Ringo Starr has said he is uncomfortable singing "You're Sixteen" these days even though 16 is the age of consent in most States thus not child exploitation. But asking a "Little Child" to "come dance with me" and the heavily implied elements of romance in that song could get certain elements going today! My Doctor told me to lose some weight so I am going on a hunger strike until I personally hear "How Do You Sleep?" and "Mumbo" on Sirius/XM's The Beatles Channel! I may become emaciated before that happens since I have not heard either one in over two months of this new Station! And by the way, I absolutely love the late 1964 smash hit, groundbreaking "I Feel Fine" but I am getting so tired of hearing it on this Station!

Yesterday Chris Carter played "How Do You Sleep" during his morning program. It is one thing for a Sirius/XM programmer to put the song on the channel being ignorant of what the song is about. But a Beatlefan like Carter playing it on his program, when it is about one Beatle insulting another one in a silly juvenile fashion?
Why play it at all? It represents the band at their lowest point when they were suing each other and insulting each other in public.
It is not what The Beatles were about. Sad that Carter felt the need to play the song. The channel is supposed to celebrate the greatest band of the 20th Century. Do we need to hear this sad example of their pettiness and selfless ego period aired as well?
Why even air their darkest moments at all? Is it even an enjoyable song to listen to now?

Then The Beatles Channel must ban at least "Too Many People" and maybe a couple others from Ram that provoked "How Do You Sleep." I am against the ban of any Beatles or Solo Beatles even Ringo's 1976 to 1982 albums!

They played some Paul Ooboo Jubu stuff from the nineties and some of it was good. Some wasn't. I heard stripped down studio versions of Hey Jude, Let It Be, Fixing A Hole, and Back in the USSR (unless they were sound checks). Let it be and Hey Jude were silly pub style renditions). I hadn't heard any of them before. The only song I had heard before was I Love This House, which was on a B side in the nineties. He had some others, including with David Gilmour.
