The Think For Yourself outake was a rare moment where they taped the discussions rather than the rehearsal takes to catch just the banter between musical takes. Why they didn't do more of this is a shame. By 1965 you would have thought recording their banter for historical purposes would have been a no brainer. Maybe EMI didn't have enough tape available for such purposes? Too bad. Missed opportunities to be sure. Well you have a whole month of that January 69... By then, sadly, they were bickering and not as interested in each others projects.

Finally listened to new stereo mix of Pepper with headphones. One complaint; On "Good Morning", John's lead vocal is buried too deeply under the intrumentals in the new mix. Is there a reason why Giles chose to not bring the vocal up more in the mix to balance it out equally with the intruments? Does anyone else hear this seemingly flaw in the new mix? Rest of album really sounded great thru headphones.

Rest of album really sounded great thru headphones. Others have grumbled about GMGM for the vocals and they think the horns from Sounds Incorporated are likewise reduced. GMGM is among my favorite songs on Pepper! I think "Kite" starts out too loud right after SLH but once you get past that it is great. Overall I love the new stereo mix.

I'd still say it's sounds better overall.

To my amazement, Pepper is #4 on BILLBOARD 200 dropping only one spot!
I expected it to take a huge drop. Off to the record store I go to buy more copies to try and keep it at 4 or higher!
