Ringo's next studio album, Give More Love, is being released on September 15. I've just downloaded the first song off of it, also entitled Give More Love, from iTunes' Australian site, so i suppose it is also available on their US site etc. I quite like it. Nice guitars and drums IMO. It sounds generic, to be sure, reminiscent of a number of his songs from 1990 onwards (I'm especially thinking of Weight Of The World and Never Without You, but then I like both of those in any case).
The album has ten new tracks plus four bonus tracks of remakes of older prominent songs. I don't understand the need for these.
Now, if Paul could just get his new album onto the market soon!

Thanks KC for that, I had not heard about it and I was too busy to listen the Beatles Channel on Ringo's birthday.
At least Ringo now has a 24/7 vehicle for his new stuff to be played because I have not heard new Ringo on mainstream radio since "La Di Da" and then just barely.

I heard new Ringo this morning on The Beatles Channel. It was okay and at least Ringo did not name-check Beatles' song titles in this song!

I was in Lexington KY on a business trip when Never Without You was the single. The Pop station played it fairly heavy. The local stations in Louisville didn't play it at all.
I played the iTunes clip of Give More Love. I don't know. I'm a big hyper for Ringo's new music. But this song sounded like the missing link. It sounded like Never Without You and about five or six of his other newer songs from the last five or six albums and suddenly they all sounded alike.
I think he may be like Fogerty and in danger of plagiarizing himself.

THAT is how you do it, Millenials! What will you be doing in your 70s? If it's listening to the songs of your 20's, I feel sorry for you. This song rocks.

Here are two tracks from the new album for convenience
We're on the Road Again....Rather rocking this little number. I like it.
Give More Love......Yep it sounds like a hybrid of many of his more recent album tracks as debjorgo said.
I don't particularly have high expectations of a Ringo album to be honest. He's not the greatest vocalist and has a limited range. Some of his 90s albums have exceeded expectations. His more recent work has been listenable but a bit too formulaic at times. I wonder how the new album will turn out?

"We're On The Road Again" is not bad! I do wish Ringo would go more Modern Rockabilly or even Alternate Country as those styles suit his voice best.
But this song moves well and Rock and Rolls.

Give More Love has Peter Frampton, Was Not Was (Walk the Dinosaur) and mega-producer Don Was, Richard Marx and Dave Stewart on it.
We're on the Road Again has Joe Walsh and Toto’s Steve Lukather on guitar, Edgar Winter, I assume on keyboards and Paul McCartney on bass.

Two reasonable to good songs so far. Looks like I'll be buying another Ringo album in September.

I like "We're On The Road Again" - good solid Rocker, and with some very impressive guitar work and screeching background support by Macca.
"Give More Love" is standard Ringo stuff... far too reminiscent of his recent songs, and sounds like a re-do of "Never Without You".

I hope we get to listen to this new Ringo album before World War III erupts.

I hadn't thought to look until now, but Give More Love is listed as #18 in Music, #11 in Rock and #17 in Pop on amazon's Best Seller's charts.

Oh crap, I forgot to pre-order Give More Love from Amazon as our local Wal-Mart, the only retailer in my town of CDs, does not have it!

I find "Give More Love" to be a pleasant listen after just one play through today. It just had a good vibe about it. The mix of rock 'n roll and country sounds sits well with me. There's also a nice funky tribute as well to Bob Marley "King of Kingdom" which I particularly liked.
Good to hear Ringo's stopped name checking old Beatles songs to make new songs out of. Instead he's re-recorded the full songs! However "Don't Pass Me By" sounds better than the White Album version. In fact it sounds like an alternative take that would have fitted nicely on the Beatles Anthology had Ringo done it this way back in '68.
First listens can be deceptive of course and other people may beg to differ.

I listened to the sample of Don't Pass Me By on amazon. The CD is in the mail.It sounds pretty good. A little too soft country for me. But okay.

I just got my CD in the mail. I listened to all the remake songs. I like them all pretty good, especially Back Off Boogaloo. Photograph was recorded with a Louisville band called Vandaveer. That's cool!
I'll probably just let the rest of the songs pop up in my New Music playlists.

I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive in the mail. It might take another week. Nothing in local stores, of course.

Give More Love: Greater than 1973's RINGO, nearly as good as 1992's Time Takes Time!

My copy of Give More Love was finally delivered on Friday and I have played it a couple of times. I generally like it. It’s much better than the last one IMO, but perhaps not quite as good as some of the opinions I have been reading here and there on the net insist.
My recent personal rankings of Ringo’s best albums were like this:
1) Time Takes Time 2) Ringo 3) Y Not
I’m not sure I rate Give More Love above Y Not. It might be about equal to my taste, but that is as high as I can go at present. I must explain that I am rating the album on the strength of the ten new songs, the four remakes are just bonus tracks to me.
Speed Of Sound and We’re On The Road Again are my favourites from the new album. Laughable, Shake It Up and Give More Love are pretty good as well, IMO. I don’t think much of King Of The Kingdom or Show Me The Way.

I have a feeling it's not going to be a very long list, even among strong Beatles fans like us. It's a real shame that Ringo cannot get a substantial audience, even when he presents good work.
