As I said last year, "Let the grumbling begin." I've bolded my 5 choices. The Moody Blues FINALLY nominated!!! Kate Bush? Also long overdue.
Radiohead Rage Against the Machine Bon Jovi Depeche Mode Judas Priest Kate Bush the Cars Dire Straits Eurythmics J Geils Band LL Cool J MC5 the Meters the Moody Blues Rufus, featuring Chaka Khan Nina Simone Sister Rosetta Tharpe Link Wray the Zombies
This is actually a very strong nominating class.

Radiohead - I like Creep. I got a best of album and barely listened to it. Nothing grabbed me.
Rage Against the Machine - I like Rage a lot, but rock and roll hall of fame? Maybe I'm putting too much meaning in the HOF.
Bon Jovi - Never been one of my favorites. I tore up Wanted: Dead or Alive in a Karaoke bar once, with a boy band, with me doing my best Eddie Vedder. I like that they came out with a hit, It's My Life, so many years after their hey-day.
Depeche Mode - Not my style.
Judas Priest - Yeah. They had a hit song.
Kate Bush - I like the song with Peter Gabriel. That's all I know.
the Cars - A ton of hits but they never got out of the era.
Dire Straits - They stepped it up after Sultan's of Swing. I like the Bobby Knight song. The Money for Nothing video was great, back when that meant something.
Eurythmics - One hit? Two hits? I can't remember. It's the short orange hair they are getting in for anyway.
J Geils Band - They had a decent career well before Centerfold. I saw them back then, I think with REO and another band. They rocked. A real party band.
LL Cool J - I got Walking with a Panther for a quarter when it was fairly new. Dude was getting married and had to divest his interest. I haven't heard any of LL's Rock albums.
MC5 - Don't know. Don't know anyone who has heard of them. Well I'm sure my old friend Alan had everything they did but he never broke any of it out.
the Meters -At least I have heard of MC5.
the Moody Blues - I have everything up to, not including the album with Steppin' in a Slide Zone. Funny, I like Your Wildest Dreams more than any song they did yet I have yet to pick The Other Side of Life up. They should have gotten in for the Denny Laine years alone.
Rufus, featuring Chaka Khan - I'd let them in for Tell Me Something Good alone. Good thing. It's the only thing I know by them.
Nina Simone - I've heard of her. I don't think I've heard her.
Sister Rosetta Tharpe - One of the great..., I think..., she truly.... I have no idea.
Link Wray - I used to see his picture in Rolling Stone.
the Zombies - Truly ahead of their time. I put Time of the Season in my top 5 songs ever.

the Zombies - Truly ahead of their time. I put Time of the Season in my top 5 songs ever. I love that song as well. Wonderful. I don't really care who gets in or not; they probably all have reasonable claims. My own favourite act from the list would be Dire Straits.

Geez Fred do you really want to flash a picture like THAT to Jan Wenner? Not that's there's anything wrong with that....

Surely Monkees fans don't begrudge Bon Jovi's all but certain induction to the RRHF?!

Surely Monkees fans don't begrudge Bon Jovi's all but certain induction to the RRHF?! Not at all, Johnny. Bon Jovi are much more Rock & Roll than some of the more recent inductees are. I mean, Flava Flav is in as a member of Public Enemy over the Monkees?!?!

Wow. Bon Jovi is such crap. MOR, White Bread, generic crap! The RRHOF is scraping the bottom anyway. When is Sheryl Crow eligible? That's when I

Here are the results: Bon Jovi Dire Straits The Cars The Moody Blues Nina Simone Sister Rosetta Tharpe Now that the Moody Blues are in, that leaves, for me, Jethro Tull and ELP and I'm good. (Welllllll, maybe Joe Cocker and Richie Havens, too - then I'll be done )

I think I have to disagree with this. The Moody Blues really didn't become the "Moody Blues" as we know them (symphonic rock, concept albumy) until Denny Laine left. I like him, but if we're looking at the body of work, the body of work they are being honored for is Days of Future Passed onwards, not Go Now. I felt the same for Roy Wood and ELO. He left after only one album. He wasn't part of their claim to fame. If Denny gets in, so should Clint Warwick. He was there for almost the entire Denny Laine era.

I'm guessing the band was cool with it judging from Hayward's comments before this addition occurred. But yeah-if he's in so should be Clint Warwick. Wings will never get in, so I'm happy with the addition.

Now that David Cassidy is dead, I bet he'll get in in the next year or so because that's how those bastards work at the RRHF.
David's death put a spotlight on his amazing career from 1970 to 1976 or so. I am devoting the rest of my life to get both the Partridge Family in and David as a Solo act.
