In a recent interview, Mick was asked to comment on Paul saying on the Howard Stern show that the Beatles were better than the Stones. I think the way Mick answered it was just fine. He didn't say anything that wasn't true, nor did he put down the Beatles, nor did he say the Stones were better. www.yahoo.com/entertainment/mick-jagger-weighs-age-old-192600339.html

I too congratulate Mick and Keith for kicking Paul's ass last Saturday night on that otherwise lame "One World" show.
Paul was horrible on "Lady Madonna", that was the most embarrassing live performance by McCartney since the horrid "Hey Jude" at the 2012 Opening Ceremony for the London Olympics.
Not only was Paul's voice shot more than normal, his piano playing was atrocious not the least because he must have been on a child's toy electric keyboard. God that was atrocious.
The Stones meanwhile do a killer "You Can't Always Get What You Want!"
Paul is such an idiot and let Howard Stern bait him on a couple issues. Good for Stern getting Paul to denounce the wet markets in Communist China but why did Paul play along on the "Beatles v. Stones" thing?!
I think Mick is being cutting in that interview gleefully noting that the Stones are still a band selling out arenas and the Beatles are not, dead for 50 years now.
Mick also hits The Beatles where it counts: The Beatles sucked live and the Stones ruled in that category between the two bands. Live performance was The Beatles Achilles' heel, the thing that is an * when calling them the greatest band ever.
I am still seething over Paul being so egotistical on Stern but he paid for it by getting totally outclassed by the Stones last Saturday night in front of the whole world.

Live performance was The Beatles Achilles' heel, Funny, I didn't see it as cutting at all. It's not like he's saying the Beatles are bad because they are not around anymore. He said they were good when he saw them at Shea Stadium. He seemed to suggest that the Beatles were at a disadvantage by playing big arenas with lousy sound, but it wasn't because they couldn't actually play. I don't think anyone would say they sucked on the rooftop. I think Paul's Wings Over America tour indicates how good a Beatles show would have been, if John and George were in their right minds about being a Beatle and about playing live. I still think Mick did a good job of propping up the Stones without bringing down the Beatles.

Mick did indeed show class in the interview but I think there were subtle barbs in there.
Paul foolishly let Howard Stern take Paul where Paul need not go especially when Paul and the Stones were to appear on an international broadcast nearly side by side which proved disastrous for Paul as he butchered "Lady Madonna" as someone of his old age well might while the Stones showed how a band of equally old dudes can perform with dignity and grace but still kick ass!

I did think the whole show was a downer. It was supposed to pick people up, especially the first responders, but just about every song was slow, down beat, and somber - in either choice of song or performance.
