The Times-Record Herald Online is reporting the Bethel Center for the Arts show tonight (Saturday) has been canceled because of equipment delivery problems. To quote the paper, "One of the band's equipment trucks has broken down near the United States/Canada border on its way from Niagara, a Bethel Woods spokesperson said." The paper says the concert will not be rescheduled and that anyone who purchased tickets online will be automatically refunded. Those who purchased tickets in person must return them to the point of purchase for a refund. The news report is at: www.recordonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080621/NEWS/80621009steve

We just got a confirmation from Ringo's publicist that tonight's show at the Bethel Center for the Arts has been canceled.

Ringo, Ringo, Ringo. Why so quick to pull the trigger and summarily declare no rescheduling?
A great beginning to this tour. Next time Rings, use real trucks to haul the gear and not the Beatles' van you begged to borrow from Apple storage, the one Neil and Mal drove around in with the gear in the old days.

I think Paul knows someone in the trucking business who can help Ringo out with his transportation problems!

This cancellation news gets more interesting. A reader wrote to Steve that this arena is a 15,000 seater. That fact wasn't disclosed in the earlier reports. I had presumed that it was a much smaller venue, the types Ringo favors because of his ticket sales.
The clear allegation from Steve's reader was that the show was cancelled for sales reasons not a breakdown of the truck.
The people writing to Steve's News Site all drove hundreds of miles, got hotels, brought their kids, etc. The reader today also mentions Live Nation as the power broker who wasn't going to lose its shirt on a poorly attended Ringo & All-Starrs' concert.
This is worth watching: Ringo's subsequent concerts and whether there are anymore cancellations.
