Sir Paul McCartney was spotted in St. Louis last night. He was apparently at the Cardinal's game and at Union Station with his new 47-year-old married girlfriend Nancy Shevelle. They are traveling Route 66 to California in a 1989 Ford Bronco. Paul says it was Nancy's idea aso they could get to know each other better.
Tomorrow morning (Thursday) on The Spike O'Dell Show (5 AM to 9 AM) on WGN 720 AM radio Spike (a big Beatle fan) is going to interview two brothers who met Paul McCartney at a gas station in Springfield, IL. recently. If I catch the show I'll let you know what was said or there might be a transcript up on WGN 720 website. It should be interesting.
That would, by far, be the coolest way to meet a Beatle... in a low-pressure situation when he's in a good mood and there's little chance of attracting a lot of attention. Unfortunately, the only rock group I ever met in that sort of circumstance was Hootie & The Blowfish. Ah well.
I find this story hilarious!! I hope all's well that ends well. Very risky on Sir Paul's part, IMO.
I know exactly what I would think, given that situation. I pull into a gas station, I look around, if I don't see anyone I know, I'm all business. I just want to fill up my vehicle and move on to someplace else. Put the nozzle in and start the pumps...then I REALLY start to look around. I see this guy that looks familiar. I'm thinking....'Damn! That guy looks a lot like McCartney...nah...can't be.' I pay for the gas and drive away.
