ALL THINGS MUST PASS, of course. Can anyone vote any differently? ;D
ATMP Side 1 is excellent throughout.
SOS has the great (that's right, I said great!) hit "Silly Love Songs" on it, and the rest on this side is mainly disposable.

ALL THINGS MUST PASS, Side 1
1. "I'd Have You Anytime" (George Harrison/Bob Dylan) 10 best solo opening to date 2. "My Sweet Lord" 9 monster 'cover" song 3. "Wah-Wah" 8.5 rocker 4. "Isn't It a Pity (Version 1)" 10 epic
WINGS AT THE SPEED OF SOUND, Side 2
1. "Silly Love Songs" 10 formula hit 2. "Cook of the House" 3 awful song 3. "Time to Hide" 8 nice Denny 4. "Must Do Something About It" 8 5. "San Ferry Anne" 8.5 6. "Warm and Beautiful" 10 George H on slide (at least sounds like him)
SOS might have had a chance if not for Cahook of the Houseeee.

WINGS AT THE SPEED OF SOUND, Side 2Love all the tracks on SOS (even *Chook Of The House*). With ATMP - 1 (not my fav side), love *My Sweet Lord*, and *Isn't It a Pity*, not much a fan of *Wah Wah*, and 50/50 with the GH/Dylan song.... (Love that Rickenbacker, one of the best bass lines ever recorded, Paul at his coolest... ...)

This was not easy.
ALL THINGS MUST PASS, Side 1
1. "I'd Have You Anytime" (George Harrison/Bob Dylan) 2:56 - Good but not outstanding 2. "My Sweet Lord" 4:38 - excellent but doesn't really speak to me 3. "Wah-Wah" 5:35 - outstanding 4. "Isn't It a Pity (Version 1)" 7:08 - good, but overstays its welcome by a good 4 minutes (and George then revisits it a couple of sides later!). Give us another song instead, George!
WINGS AT THE SPEED OF SOUND, Side 2
1. "Silly Love Songs" 5:53 - excellent 2. "Cook of the House" 2:37 - a tolerable showcase for Linda. Which is not especially a recommendation 3. "Time to Hide" 4:32 - excellent 4. "Must Do Something About It" 3:42 - resoundingly average 5. "San Ferry Anne" 2:06 - ditto 6. "Warm and Beautiful" 3:12 - an excellent song with a very poor arrangement
ATMP has the edge.

This is a good matchup. Each side has things going for it (and against it). This is the better side of SOS, but sides 2 and 3 of ATMP are better than side 1. There are 6 songs on SOS and only 4 on ATMP (and "Isn't It A Pity" is repeated on side 4). On the other hand, one SOS song is "Cook Of The House" (which isn't terrible) but it is weaker than anything on ATMP by far. "Time To Hide" was written and sung by Denny Laine (though it is good) and "Must Do Something About It" is sung by Joe English. However both are pretty good. Each side has a huge hit and both are very good, probably among the best 5 singles of their year "Warm And Beautiful" is one of those "buried treasure" type of songs. "San Ferry Anne" is average, but the horns are nice. "I'd Have You Anytime" is good. "Wah Wah" I like better live. I agree that "Isn't It A Pity" goes on too long. Even considering this as the "proper" version and side 4 as the unnecessary repeat I don't find it as great as some make it out to be. Side 2 or 3 ATMP would win easily (side 4 would lose) and Side 1 SOS would lose to side 1 ATMP, but I'm going with side 2 SOS here as there is just a little more to offer.

ALL THINGS MUST PASS, Side 1
Through the years, I've played ATMP-1 much more than SOS-2. My favorite song on ATMP-1 is "I'd Have You Anytime" as it pairs two of my musical heroes! I like everything else just fine on ATMP-1.
On SOS-2, I adore "San Ferry Anne" whatever in the world it is about. It has something that draws me in to it. In the right mood, I can really dig "Silly Love Songs" but the problem is I am not always in the right mood. ;D
I've never disliked "Cook Of The House" but it won't be in my Top 100 Beatles' solo songs. "Time To Hide" is pretty good and "Must Do Something About It" is okay.
"Warm And Beautiful" can often pull at my heartstrings so I'll count it as a good one. All in all, SOS-2 has always been so obscure with me so ATMP-1 it is!

ATMP for sure, Speed of Sound is my least favorite Wings album.
I have to say, and this applies to the whole tournament, that since I met all these albums on CD it's been sort of a revelation to examine them based on sides.

I know that I urge everyone to discuss, justify, argue their choice - but sometimes there is nothing to say.
This is one of those times.
Signing off now to vote for a side of fine music.

PS I'm looking forward to a match-up between two of ATMP's sides. That will be a real contest.

ATMP
Seriously, is there anything to say? This is perhaps the very finest solo side, ever.

ATMP Seriously, is there anything to say? This is perhaps the very finest solo side, ever. That's what we're trying to find out... ;D Me, I'd tab RINGO 1, or ATMP 3, but my choice may not win. It'll still be MY choice. JcS

ALL THINGS MUST PASS, Side 1
I feel that this George side is miles in front of it's opposition in this round... ;D

SOS is my favourite Wings album and it's up against a heavyweight.
As much as I love SOS I can't really vote against ATMP S-1 here. Also, the line
Let me roll it to you from I'd Have You Anytime probably inspired Paul to write Let Me Roll It so George gets it here.

After much deliberation I decided that I would vote for ATMP. But it's running away with it and so I clicked SOS just to make things a little more interesting

My Sweet Lord, Wah Wah, Isn't It a Pity -- three Beatle-esque type hits in a row George was on a creative roll back then.
