Lyrics to Mamunia :
Mamunia mamunia mamunia Oh oh oh Mamunia mamunia oh oh oh oh
The rain comes falling from the sky, To fill the stream that fills the sea And that's where life began for you and me
So the next time you see rain it ain't bad, Don't complain it rains for you, The next time you see l.a. Rainclouds, Don't complain it rains for you and me
Mamunia mamunia mamunia Oh oh oh Mamunia mamunia oh oh oh oh
It might have been a bright blue day But rainclouds had to come this way They're watering everything that they can see.
A seed is waiting in the earth For rain to come and give him free, So the next time you see l.a. Rainclouds Don't complain, it rains for you.
So lay down your umbrellas Strip off your plastic macs. You've never felt the rain my friend, Till you've felt it running down your back
So the next time you see rain, it ain't bad Don't complain, it rains for you. The next time you see l.a. Rainclouds Don't complain it rains for you and me.
Mamunia mamunia mamunia Oh oh oh Mamunia mamunia oh oh oh oh

I didn't know what this song was about but reading the lyrics it seems to be centred around rain....
the name Mamunia is interesting, the Beatles Bible says..
Meaning 'safe haven' in Arabic, Mamunia was the name of a house in Lagos, Nigeria, the city where much of Wings' 1973 album Band On The Run was recorded.
The Beatles Bible further states......
The lyrics are chiefly concerned with rain in Los Angeles, although the song was inspired by a 1973 visit Wings made to Tunisia. In the song, rain acts as a metaphor for rebirth and renewal. McCartney's statement that the weather "ain't bad, don't complain" bears a similarity to John Lennon's words on The Beatles' 1966 b-side Rain.
I give this a 3

Maumia 3
A cheery tune, a decent sentiment with lyrics which could have been better.

3 A nice song. I really like the opening to it. Vocally I rate it highly.

2.5. Borrowed theme from The Beatles' "Rain." A signal that the Era of The JSD Postulate was over.

I'd guess inspiration came from being in Africa, where rain is rare and people wait for it. I like the bongo drums, they add to the african feel.
I gave it a 4.

2. Barely. For a moment it seems like its going to go somewhere interesting. But then it gets pretty tiresome.

2. The only song on Band On The Run that I don't particularly like. On my own alternate version of the album I have deleted it and added Helen Wheels.

Helen Wheels should already be on BAND ON THE RUN (this is a case where the USA got it right). So keep Helen Wheels where you have it and I would suggest adding Country Dreamer (the flip of Helen Wheels). It is actually a fairly similar style of song to Mamunia.

I will give it a 3
It's a good song but is a little too long as it has no drive and feels stagnant by the end
It's my least favourite song from BOTR and I like the idea that helen wheels should have kicked off side 2

This song is pleasant enough. The sound is great on it. It works well as a cushion between the harder rocking Jet and Mrs Vandebilt, not as well as a stand alone song. It's lyrics are along the same lines as the Beatles' Rain, taking it a step further. Rain is not only not bad, but it is good.
I'll give this one a 2.5. I'll only do 2.0 for the poll.

Got the place on the album wrong. I mixed it up with Bluebird. I used to be a fan. ;(

Yeah, my least favorite song on BOTR. Also, I think this is the only song from the LP that he has not performed live (well, I might be wrong about that as I can't recall if Helen Wheels was ever performed back when Wings were touring Europe back in '73/''74).
I might push this on to a 2.5, though.
