No responses to George so I'll try John now:
1. Hold On John-critics of PLASTIC ONO BAND call it too negative. This song shows John thinking positive. 2. Oh My Love-Imagine and Jealous Guy gets most of the ink, but this ballad can stand up with that pair. 3. Give Me Some Truth-a great riff and vocal 4. Luck Of The Irish-critics concentrate on the lyrics, but there is a beautiful melody behind the questionable words. 5. Bring On The Lucie (Freeda People)-John shows he can still rock! 6. Move Over Ms. L-an old style rocker which was the B side to Stand By Me. 7. Beautiful Boy-Paul once listed it as one of his 10 favorite songs. 8. I'm Losing You-the Cheap Trick version from THE LENNON ANTHOLOGY is better than the version on DOUBLE FANTASY. 9. I'm Steppin Out-2nd single from MILK AND HONEY only made #55. Should have been a bigger hit. 10. Grow Old With Me-even unfinished this is a beautiful song!

1. Hold On John-critics of PLASTIC ONO BAND call it too negative. This song shows John thinking positive. Agree. Anyway, POB is not "negative" at all, it's just really honest and personal. 2. Oh My Love-Imagine and Jealous Guy gets most of the ink, but this ballad can stand up with that pair. I don't think "Oh My Love" is on par with the two tracks you mention, as it's rather too light by comparison. Still a great track, though. I love the whole Imagine album! 3. Give Me Some Truth-a great riff and vocal It's great, but I always thought it could have been better. Somehow, the song doesn't swing enough and kind of plods. Ringo could have played it better. 4. Luck Of The Irish-critics concentrate on the lyrics, but there is a beautiful melody behind the questionable words. That's the risk you take when the album is all about the message, man. People naturally focus on the message (or lack thereof in this case) instead of the musicianship. It is a nice melody, yes. 5. Bring On The Lucie (Freeda People)-John shows he can still rock! I never thought of this one as a rocker; it's more mid-tempo blandness like all of Mind Games. But the tune is nice, and the slide guitar always welcome. 6. Move Over Ms. L-an old style rocker which was the B side to Stand By Me. I never cared for this one. 7. Beautiful Boy-Paul once listed it as one of his 10 favorite songs. This is indeed a masterpiece. I think it's the best 1980 song, and one of the 3 or 4 best of John's post-Beatle years. 8. I'm Losing You-the Cheap Trick version from THE LENNON ANTHOLOGY is better than the version on DOUBLE FANTASY. I've still never heard that one... YouTube, here I come... the song itself is just okay. 9. I'm Steppin Out-2nd single from MILK AND HONEY only made #55. Should have been a bigger hit. I don't like this one much. 10. Grow Old With Me-even unfinished this is a beautiful song! Agree. It's a great song. Did anyone famous do a cover of it?

Should have been a bigger hit. 10. Grow Old With Me-even unfinished this is a beautiful song! Good choices: 1. Hold On John-one of only two songs on JLPOB I can comfortably listen to. 2. Oh My Love-exquisite. 3. Give Me Some Truth-John's penchant for aggression channelled well here, with good lyrics and excellent snarling. 4. Luck Of The Irish-yes, there is a beautiful melody, but such ugly (and naive) words. 5. Bring On The Lucie (Freeda People)-This was over the closing titles of Children Of Men which was on TV at the weekend. 6. Move Over Ms. L-indifferent. 7. Beautiful Boy-heartbreaking. 8. I'm Losing You-a good song, but not a favourite. 9. I'm Steppin Out-not a favourite. 10. Grow Old With Me-John put a sweet melody to these words.

I know Mary Chapin Carpenter did a cover of "Grow Old With Me".

Both Carpenter and Campbell show what a great song "Grow Old With Me" is.
Damn, I cannot believe that John never ran through this in the studio during the DF sessions. If only we had a studio quality vocal by John, the rest could be built around it. It is another cassette recorded demo vocal like FAAB.
