Kind of Mike but being sarcastic wasn't my aim. I was trying to make the point that if he believes in God and the Bible, which says the only way you won't get into Heaven is by not believing in God, then he'll be going to heaven because he believes. No further judgement required. Personally I think it is perhaps best that he doesn't get out. sorry I shouldn't have assumed, but I thought it was sarcasm, in the way that mafia guys knock someone off, then go to confession so it's "okay". That is sarcasm. I do believe in "God/higher energy" though I don't think he/she looks like a 30 year old Barry Gibb with a brilliant white beard, and I believe there is forgiveness for those truly sorry. I just don't think that is where this critter really is.

"The panel notes your prison record of good conduct, program achievements, educational accomplishments, positive presentation remorse, risk and needs assessment, letters of support, significant opposition to your release and all other statutory factors were considered.”
“However, parole shall not be granted for good conduct and program completions alone. Therefore, despite your positive efforts while incarcerated, your release at this time would greatly undermine respect for the law and tend to trivialize the tragic loss of life which you caused as a result of this heinous, unprovoked, violent, cold and calculated crime.” New York State Parole Board on denying MDC parole.
Wow, letters of support for the killer!? I wonder if they came from his doormat wife Gloria who absolutely knew her husband's intentions and did not do a damn thing to tip off authorities? I'd like to see her get her just rewards too.

I'd like to see her get her just rewards too. "Try and make it coincide with your next album release for maximum exposure." To quote andyb.

I can't help wondering if our own Panther sent out any letters of support for this guy? I mean, based on his compassion and belief in rehabilitating as openly expressed on this forum?

That way he can go online and enjoy seeing his name asscociated with John's in perpetuity whenever Beatles history is discussed. He could even be on this board No responsibilities, 3 square meals a day. Some life sentence..... Too bad they don't provide windowless rooms, no media access, and dog food for breakfast, cat food for lunch and liver & onions every night for dinner for "lifers". Just in case he IS on this board; May you rot in hell you useless scumbag. Glad your parole has been rejected once more. There; now I feel better.

He is now allowed conjugal visits...did they grant him that on the basis that he doesn't get as many erections nowadays as he would have in his younger days...or did his fellow inmates class him as a sexual dud, thus he was classed as limp....

Completely uncalled for. Also, demonstrating your lack of comprehension of the very basic concepts I discussed earlier on this thread.

I agree. Panther has asked good questions and made valid points in general so that was an unfair allegation.
All members here are on the same team in admiration of John Lennon and the other three Beatles yet we need to tolerate differing opinions on the philosophy behind incarceration after a conviction for crime and not accuse anyone of being sympathetic(or let alone supportive) to this particular individual because no one has written that they are.
On the other hand, John's killer does elicit strong emotions and if folks here want to vent, this Thread is a good place to do that in and though some have expressed harsh sentiments, such was the extreme nature of this heinous crime.

We all have different sentiments. If you handed me a gun if he got out on parole and you told me I could get away with blowing him away... I wouldn't. But if I were Paul McCartney I would surround myself with heavily armed men...and if I were one of those guys and I saw him and my job was to protect McCartney I would. ...but Paul would first have to sign an agreement to NEVER sing Hey Jude again ;D

Just in case he IS on this board; May you rot in hell you useless scumbag. Glad your parole has been rejected once more. There; now I feel better. I quoted that because I was rather uncomfortable too about the accolades being handed the convicted killer yet the Board says that alone won't win his release. As ladyfalcon noted, the Board mentioned the letters opposing his release! I am getting grumpy in my old age but his wife Gloria has really angered me the more I read about her. She may have gone to authorities with what she knew pre-Dec. 8th and maybe they would have blown her off because her husband didn't have a previous criminal record but we will never know because she didn't try based on my understanding of the facts, or at least didn't reveal he was intent to murder someone else. She may have reported that he wanted to hurt himself or something vague. It must be pathetic that she is literally a doormat for this guy who continues to support him and put her life on hold for a guy who wasn't even a particularly good husband in the best of times. But lowbasso, I initially got the sense of cracks in the Parole Boards resolve to keep the killer locked-up but maybe I am misreading their recitation of his so-called post-conviction accomplishments. Maybe they are really saying, "No matter what you do it is not enough!" Food for thought.

A thought came into my head and I typed before I realised.
