The Everly Brothers were great and very influential to the Beatles harmonies. RIP Phil.

THAT is a major loss (no disrespect to others who have passed). I was lucky enough to see the Everly Brothers when they toured with Simon and Garfunkel.

I just ordered a five disc set 100 Hits Legends-Everly Brothers [Box set, Import] from amazon. There was two of them. Now there is none.
I hope I got it ordered in time, no confirmation yet.
I didn't think about it when I was ordering it, 5 discs should have everything, but it doesn't have On the Wings of a Nightingale. I haven't heard it since it came out.
Here's a song I always liked. Not a big hit but a good one.

Just to make a point about the topic of having a number 1 hit and my assertion that it really does not mean anything, note in the article about Phil Everly that Bye, Bye Love only made it to Number 2 and it WAS a million seller.

Such a huge loss. The influence of the Everly Brothers runs wide and deep in rock and pop. The Beatles, the Beach Boys, Simon and Garfunkel, the Hollies--the list goes on and on.
