I put this in the off-topic folder;
Hey Steve, I'm here in San Francisco this weekend appearing with The SF Symphony in their operatic production of Benjamin Britten's PETER GRIMES with Michael Tilson Thomas conducting at Davies Symphony Hall! Smash hit; we are getting raving reviews in the local media! Last performance is tomorrow's matinee! Nice to be back in The Bay Area where I sang with the SF Opera for over 30 years. In fact, it is 35 years ago this month I first came here as an apprentice singer with the Opera Company in the summer of 1979 fresh out of Indiana University starting my singing career! Passed Candlestick Park on the way in from the airport. Is Paul still planning to do a concert there before they tear it down as a final tribute, since it is where The Beatles closed out their touring years in 1966?

Break a leg, lowbasso! (Is that appropriate for opera singers?)

Hey lowbasso, sorry I missed your performance. Hope you got a chance to do some sightseeing. I've been singing with San Francisco Opera since 1979, so I feel like half my adult life was spent there after 35 years of coming back almost every year for operas. I've had a chance to see just about everything there is to see all over Northern California! Beautiful area, but I must say cost of living has just soared in SF in last 10 years. More expensive than NYC! And that SF city mandate for charging customers extra on their restaurant bills to pay for health care for the restaurant employees....well, that would never go over in my home state of NJ. If a restaurant offers health care to employees, then raise your prices to accommodate it. Not put a surcharge on patron's bills.

lowbasso, next time you come to SF, let us know well in advance. I'd love to get together with you (of course, considering your schedule) or at least, to catch one of your performances.
