Liverpudlian Mike Myers was on Steve Colbert last night. Steve asked Mike about George Harrison's last letter to Mike to lead to asking if he'd seen Get Back.
Of course Mike saw the show and loved it. He thinks the Beatles are underrated. "It makes being a creative person seems like a noble ambition."
They talk about the 50th Anniversary of Wayne's World. Then, out of the blue, "If there's anything I did relate to in Get Back, it's I think they really did love playing with each other" Steve chimed in with "It's a love story. I mean, I loved one of the things that Paul said to Peter Jackson when he asked his permission to edit it, "Just makes sure everyone knows we were mates." Pete said "There's only one story I can tell. And that you loved each other.""

CBS News Sunday Morning has a story titled "The Beatles History" scheduled for this morning. Cool, I'll see if I can find it on the CBS website. This past Thursday night CBS likewise did a special called Her Majesty The Queen: A Gayle King Special and Paul McCartney was one of four or five talking heads and was featured pretty heavily in this program. Paul did a nice job relating several anecdotes about his involvement with Queen Elizabeth from boyhood to more recent times. Paul looked cool with that now unshaven look he has adopted (either that or he is on blood thinner and does not want to risk shaving daily). Members may want to look that up on the CBS archive as Paul is in the special throughout in interview clips with Gayle King.

That's one of the perils of watching everything on DVR.

60 Minutes has a story on Sunday about the Beatles. Seems there is some long unseen video of the Beatles rehearsing for Let it Be. The third repeat of this story was aired tonight on 60 Minutes. Yeah, I watched it again.

Well, after loving me, she said she couldn't love another!

Billy Bush wished Ringo a happy birthday on Extra.
"Ringo Starr turns 82 today. Can you believe it? I wonder how he feels about the "New Beatles". BTS. They're the new Beatles. Right? Aren't they really the new Beatles? The modern day Beatles." He points at his cameraman. "Kenny, ha ha. Look Kenny... Kenny can't stand... He's a real Beatles' fan. And if you say that BTS and KPop... like the new Beatles. He can't stand it. He can't stand it. Butter, it's good as anything the Beatles ever did. Oh! I feel bad. Bye bye."

The musician St. Vincent is sitting in with the band on The Late Show With Steven Colbert this week. A segment had an overdubbed Martha Stewart showing how to effectively kill Coyotes who murderously kill your peacocks. The band played the the segment out with the Beatles Martha My Dear. Vincent looked kind of out of place, like what do I do on this one? When they came back from the break, she was singing Martha My Dear. It sounded pretty good. I was impressed.
Colbert says "I don't think I've ever told you this, I've had you on the show before. We've talked before. Your cover of Dig A Pony, I think might be better than the Beatles'. Don't tell John Lennon I said that. If I can make a request this week, any chance I can get a little bit of Dig a Pony?"
"Absolutely!"

On ET, 12 year old Mandy Buechel, who had recently come onstage with Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters to play drums, was asked by Mario Lopez,"When did you start playing, and what made you fall in love specifically with the drums?" Mandy replied "I started playing the drums when I was 5 years old because I listened to the Beatles when I was making pancakes and I look at Ringo Starr and I say, "I want to do that when I get older". The same story as Dave Grohl, if I'm not mistaken.

Ringo was on CBS Mornings this morning, promoting EP3. This was pretty good, so I wanted to do a recap and I left it on my DVR. "Ringo is back on the road again..., with a little help from his friends." Title of the segment: A Little Help From His Friends Ringo is shown singing this at a recent show and they switch to the interview with Ringo in Fort Lauderdale and Anthony Mason. "They talked about Ringo's new music, the recent new Beatles' documentary, and picking up an unexpected lock-down hobby." " Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band had only played nine gigs before COVID-19 put the musicians on pause. Now, months later, the group is back on tour with a brand new EP and skills from an unexpected hobby learned while quarantining.
"You play it safe because then you're keeping other people safe," Starr told CBS News senior culture correspondent Anthony Mason.
While at home, the 82-year-old former drummer for the Beatles recorded two EP's, and recently released one of them titled EP3.
But along with creating music during lockdown, Starr said a TikTok video he saw inspired him to delve into spin paint — an art form where paint is poured onto a rotating canvas. He said he's turned his home gym into an art room and transformed a guest house into a home studio so that he can "splash paint around."
"I love it," he said. "That's the magic of painting, you do something and then, 'Wow, look what came out of it.'"
He compared the art form to music but noted that while performing with others, "you all have to play in the same key."" www.cbsnews.com/colorado/news/ringo-starr-new-music-resuming-tour-unexpected-hobby/?intcid=CNM-00-10abd1hOn the Beatles' Get Back: Ringo just keeps time when they are working up a new song. "You know, just straight Rock. But then up on the roof...." He does the rolling drum beat from the song Get Back. "Now what made me do that? How did I get to that?" "Peace and Love everybody. Both of you watching this." Mason concludes with "Fun Beatle fact: Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, the band that Ringo was in.... The sister of Rory Storm was going out with a guy named George Harrison, who wanted to join the band. Rory said he was too young and wouldn't let him." They end the segment with Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, for some odd reason.

Actress Octavia Spencer has always followed crime stories. She read all the Hardy Boys mysteries, Nancy Drew, Encyclopedia Brown books. She read Helter Skelter at a much too inappropriate age of 11. She knew the Beatles song and thought it was about that. "It was nothing about that." Jimmy added "Well it was a something about that".

On an August 24, 2006 episode of the Late Show with David Letterman.... What? I'm a little behind on my TV viewing. Guest Miss Regina, the founder of Wigs for Dogs, said she did the makeup, at one point, for the Beatles. She did hair and makeup for Jackie Gleason when he was doing his CBS show in Florida, but I don't know how she got hooked up with the Beatles. She said they were really nice. In fact John asked her if she would like their autographs. She then said "So I had all four auto graphs, and something to go with them". She added the last part with a sly kind of side glance. The audience went nuts. I wasn't sure exactly what she was implying. Dave did not press her on it.

On the January 5th episode of CSI: Vegas, Eyeballs, Maxine says to fellow CSI Chris who has revealed his internet activity has made him somewhat of a celebrity "You cannot put yourself out there like that. It's dangerous! You never know who's watching you and what they are capable of. Now. The next Mark David (slimball) could be lurking in your damn comments." Chris says "Who?" Maxine gives it a slight "Damn, this younger generation..." but basically plays it off. Odd though, the IMDB article on the episode sites a trivia blurb on it but doesn't say why. Trivia On December 8, 1980 John Lennon was murdered under the archway of his apartment building at The Dakota, near Central Park's Western perimeter, by Mark David (Slimball).www.imdb.com/title/tt23664820/?ref_=ttep_ep10

Access Hollywood had a story today on the re-recording of Julian Lennon's Salt Water, for the White Feather Foundation to celebrate Earth Day. Julian tells his White Feather story of when he was approached by elder Astralian tribe member, holding a white feather from a male swan, saying to Julian that he had a voice. I guess Julian felt that this was a communication from John, as well as the call for help from the elder. Apparently George recorded some demos of Salt Water.
Julian also talks about changing his name from John Charles Julian Lennon to Julian Charles John Lennon.

James Corden guest-starred on Jimmy Kimmel tonight. He told his story about how he got Paul McCartney to do his Carpool Karaoke segment again. The sketch would be sold on line. If Paul could spend 20 minutes for the skit, it would buy malaria vaccine and save 10 African childrens' lives. "If you'd said no to that, I would name my first born after you." "Deal!"
