The morning shows in the US did stories on Paul talking about the new Beatles "re-creation" song. John's vocals on Now and Then would be enhanced by AI to make it sound better than it did in 1994, when Yoko gave it to Paul, George and Ringo to work with. The Today Show had Keir Simmons's walking across Abbey Road. In an interview Keir did with Ringo, Keir asks Ringo if he would still like to be playing with the band. "Oh yeah! Who's the best band?"

As long as it's done sparingly, I'm okay with it. Take this new 'Beatles' song. There is a point where it is not John's voice, even though John's voice was used to repair it.
I also would note that the AI samples I've heard, the new voice sounds like the new performer, but the singing style is still the old perfomer. The Beatles have very unique singing styles. George has a way of phrasing words that Paul does not have. If AI can create a song out of scratch, it can obviously change the style too if programmed right.
In an era where facts are interchangable with 'alternate' facts, this is very scary indeed.
We are very close to the point where AI will think it is sentient, whether we believe it or not. Everything is hooked together. If one AI learns something, they all know it. Dispite the old "no killing humans clause" built in to it, we've taught drones to recognize certain individuals and to kill them.
It is built in that AI cannot tell you how to build a nuclear bomb. But I'm thinking, if you had a very very good reason....

NBC News had a story tonight on a scam where an AI generated voice was used to extort money from a poor unsuspecting mother. European Union's Parliment is attempting to regulate the use of AI. Paul McCartney's use with the new Beatles song was used as an example of the debate issues.
ABC New's had a straight story tonight on the song.

The Recording Academy has announced 'sweeping' changes Friday. They will only award Grammys to entries that use AI, as long as there is a "meaningful and relevant human componant".
The Today Show used this to retell the McCartney/Beatles 'new song' story.

The AI genie is out of the bottle!
We are witnessing the Rise of the Machines!
AI tampering of existing music and the blatant creation of new will cause school children to exclaim in forced unison, "Dear Leaders, Yoko Ono and Linda McCartney are great singers!"

CBS News Sunday has an interview with Paul McCartney. It also has a story on Ed Sullivan. My guess, the Ed Sullivan spot will mention the Beatles.

This morning's Today show did a story on the McCartney/Tucci interview. They show Paul telling the story of John confusing a nativity scene for neighbors playing cards on the lawn.
"Hard to believe after all these years, there are still stories you haven't heard." "Without my contacts...."

Access Hollywood had Sheila E getting her star on the Hollywood Hall of Fame, presented to her by fellow drummer, Ringo Starr. Sheila was the first female percussionist to get one. Sheila tapped a little beat out on her star with her sticks before getting out the congas.

On Sunday Today, it was noted how a Taylor Swift concert generated seismic activity. An economics analyst, sorry, couldn't make out her name, said she's a once in a generation entertainer, "I'd almost compare her to the Beatles".

Another Tay Tay reference.
On the NBC Nightly News, Emilie Ikeda said the average Swiftie spends about $1300 on concert related expences, travel, tickets, excessories.... She showed off her many friendship bracelets. "That's nearly a Billion Dollars in consumer spending in the US alone." She asked some expert, "What would you compare Swift Mania to?" "The Beatles come to mind. Queen comes to mind. From a spending perspective, I think it's incomparable."

Taylor probably has a better merchandise deal than The Beatles did! Thankfully you are catching a lot of Beatles' references on TV, Deb! I am sure not catching any Beatles' references on the Tube but then again, like a zombie, all I do is watch Dark Shadows on Prime/Freevee and then re-watch them after I run the full gauntlet of episodes. One time when Joe Haskell had broken up with Carolyn Collins Stoddard, he played an instrumental version of "Yesterday" on the jukebox at the Blue Whale! That was the only Beatles reference I have ever heard or seen on Dark Shadows but it made me openly weep.

And there was the "'Paul (Stoddard) is dead' and burried in the basement closet", plot running through the early shows. Turned out, Paul wasn't dead. He was later replaced by look-alike Jason McGuire.

CBS Saturday Morning announced they had a story on Hipgnosis, the album cover design group. The opening to Band on the Run played as they went to the commercial. A fascinating new documentary, Squaring the Circle. www.squaringthecirclefilm.com/Paul could be a little irritated at times by Storm Thorgerson. "He could be really crappy!" Storm's partner Aubrey added "He wasn't afraid to say to Linda McCartney 'I don't like your pictures.' It didn't go down well."

On The UnXplained tonight, Shatner tells us Liverpool is known as the hometown of the Beatles. He also notes that it is known as a place of many time slips. What is a time slip? Well, that is what we will try and find out.
He says in Liverpool, time moves in mysterious ways. He tells us the story of a guy called Frank and his wife Carol, who were shopping in the Liverpool stores on Bold Street in 1996. He went looking for a CD, a compact disc, 1990's technology. She went in to a Dillons Bookstore. He came out to find his wife, but Dillons had become a Cripps Son and Co. store, selling female clothing. And he noticed everone was dressed in 1940's - 50s clothes. Suddenly everything was back to how it should be. Turns out there was a Cripps there in the 40s.
How this happened, remains UnXplained.

CBS Mornings had a story on the release next Thursday of Now and Then. The story, titled Artificial Beatles, showed scenes from the trailer for the making of the single. Tony asked, "If this works with AI, couldn't they keep writing songs?" Vladimir replied "As long as they have music they haven't released".
Tony: "Next generation of musicians is like "And I'm STILL competing with new Beatle songs!"
I guess that's why Taylor released her re-recording of 1989 today, instead of waiting a week.
