That is a very interesting article. That does though lend even more credence to that phrase we sometimes hear that The Beatles were the first "Boy Band!" In February 1964, I was one year, three months old. The five to seven year old range seems to be pushing it based on just my experience at those ages. I remember clearly turning five in the Fall of 1967 and I was not exactly hip to Sgt. Pepper although an older cousin showed me the album cover. By nine and ten I was buying Pop 45s but sadly the Beatles were gone! The 5 to 10 range might be correct but the key I would think was having older siblings in the house to expose the youngsters to the music. I am the oldest and I wasn't exactly leading my younger siblings into a music revolution in 1967 when I was listening to children's records! My parents were bad timing too, they were almost out of college by 1955 or whenever Rock and Roll really exploded. They were of no help, they liked "Square music!" My birth timing was bad plus no older siblings who might have connected me to The Beatles at least for their later period.

I turned 6 on March 17, 1964. I loved the Beatles music right from the start. My parents were younger than most of my friend's parents (I was the oldest child) so they listened to rock music on the radio and liked the Beatles. My mother even bought THE BEATLES 2ND ALBUM. It was always about liking the music for me more than anyone else although I also remember seeing them on various variety/news programs and thinking they were hilarious. The personalities were also a positive factor in my being a fan.

Interesting article. I fall right into this demographic, being 58 years old. I remember watching the Beatles on Ed Sullivan (although not the first show), saw all of the movies during first runs, and had a huge collection of bubble gum cards, magazines, posters and books. I wish I could have seen them in Sept. 64 on their only visit here - I blame my parents for that hole in my life, haha! My husband is 62, and still plays in various bands - a love which started in February '64. Part of what drew us together was a shared love of rock'n'roll, the Beatles most of all.

The only album my Dad owned that could be called 1960's Pop music was the B.J. Thomas album with "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head!" Man, I wonder where the old man was hiding the water bong, getting into that freaky B.J. Thomas and his mind-blowing "Adult Comtemporary" sound!

That would have been about perfect! I am jealous! I got right to that age where a kid discovers Pop Music when The Partridge Family scored huge with "I Think I Love You." The PF were the Beatles for 7 to 8 year old JSD! No wonder I am so messed up!
