Paul was in fine voice for that concert and I like the set list. Isn't he touring Japan soon (this spring)?

Yes, he's here in Tokyo last week of April. 4 shows at the Tokyo Dome, I think. I'm debating whether to go... Hmm...

He's already in Japan now after doing the Ringo Hall of Fame thing in Cleveland. I think the first concert is in Osaka tomorrow night (Tuesday). He sure gets around a lot for a 72 year old.

So he got in without being busted? That's a start!

Nancy's obviously better at packing than Linda was.

Actually, that didn't have anything to do with that and the reference was really unintentional. I did, however, get a couple of comments about saying Ringo was "out there." THAT was intentional.

There was a nice piece about him on the Japanese TV news last night. Showed him arriving at the airport -- he looked pretty 'genki', unlike last time when he was sick. Then showed him in performance. Just heard some snippets but he sounded all right.
(I'm not going btw -- we tried again to buy tickets two days ago for the Saturday night show, but it's sold out. I could go Monday night, but I have to get up early every day now for work and I'd have to go alone that night anyway. Then, my wife suggested I go alone to the one and only Budokan show, but the tickets were about $390 apiece, and anyway I think it's sold out now.)

In case you haven't seen this, here's the first ever (I think) performance of Hope for the Future in Osaka:

Good performance of a song that is, however, rather a pace-killer in a concert! That song will be the current beer/bathroom run song for the folks.

I just can't see spending $400 on a concert ticket. 10 years or so ago when I shelled out $500 for two tickets at MSG in NYC to hear him I thought that was an awful lot of money but I got to hear him do a bunch of Beatle songs live. But the ticket prices are just atrocious. Imagine if history had allowed a reunion tour of The Beatles in the 1990's to actually occur. The ticket prices would probably have been in the four to five figures easily. And to think in 1965 you could have gotten a ticket to Shea Stadium for $4.50.

In fairness to Paul, playing the Tokyo dome isn't like playing the Cavern in 1962 -- you don't take random requests and play what pleases you. At the Dome, Paul is playing to 70,000-or-whatever people, the vast majority of whom don't understand English much or at all, and the vast majority of whom know his music through The Beatles and maybe Wings' Greatest Hits. It's the concession you make as an 'artist' when you play a stadium, esp. in a non-English environment. Sure, he could break out 'Tommy's Coming Home' and other obscure songs for 2 hours, but next time he comes back to Tokyo he'll be playing the Liquid Room to 500 people.

Go Paul.....He's finally entered *Another Girl* into his setlist......One of my favourites from the Help movie.....The Beatles themselves have never even performed it live....? Cool! I liked that. He should had brought a girl from the audience to play like she's a guitar.

But you and your wife would have more fun at the Liquid Room. And while I take your point, "Mumbo" is universal, there is really no English but guttural sounds. Japanese fans would go as crazy to that song as an American audience. If Paul is going to change a setlist, go big and go bold!

Of the Beatles' songs he's never done, for years I'd been hoping to hear The Night Before, and finally he did. At the same time, I hoped he would do Ob La Di Ob La Da, and he did. Another Girl has also been on my list. Lucky Japanese! Other than songs associated with John like Rain, She Said She Said, Tomorrow Never Knows, and Come Together, I'm good as far as Beatles songs are concerned. But, it would be cool to hear I Want to Hold Your Hand or She Loves You, but I'm okay without them.

I always get this confused with the Night Before.
