Listening to "She's Leaving Home" on the 50th Anniversary SGT PEPPER, I was struck yet again by how great John's backing vocals are on that song. The anguish the parents feel comes out so strongly in John's fantastic performance.
Another of my favorites is Paul's exuberant backup on "It Won't Be Long". The energy and excitement are palpable.
What are some favorites of other board members?

No matter who was singing lead, the other two always provided great backing vocals: Hello Goodbye, Taxman, You Won't See Me. I could go on forever. Hey Jude...

No other band has had better backing vocals. Keith did some great backing vocals for Mick. Pete and the Ox for Roger. Just think of how many songs have session backing vocalists.

I was listening on headphones today as I worked on the yard and was quite impressed with Paul's background vocals on "Boys".

It makes sense, and would be cool if it's true.

I agree that it sure sounds like Ringo on the bit, "wearing rings on every finger!" Ringo's vocal there seems a given but as Mike alludes to, it is not I guess. But listen to Ringo singing with Paul at the end of 1997's "Beautiful Night" and it sure makes me think of many lines in "Old Brown Shoe" where Ringo's voice seems prominent!

Paul's backing vocals on Walk with You are very nice. They are but sadly only about 20 or 30 of us have ever heard it! Maybe this Sirius/XM Beatles Channel will change that!

I still think it is Ringo, especially considering the line, but why is it not documented?

It being John has always been curious to me, given the perceived lack of interest he had in contributing to George's songs in 68-69.

And didn't Lewisohn write that John's rhythm guitar track got wiped from the final version of "Old Brown Shoe" which is a shame because I always love John's raw, rough and tumble playing as did Eric Clapton and even artists like John Fogerty. There was nothing sinister about it, it was just Hari going for a certain sound. Now if John's guitar playing was wiped by Paul so he could do it then I would be pissed!
