Thought this might be a nice little thread after I found this nice story by Marianne Faithfull about George. Maybe we can all share quotes that we've heard or read about George. If not, that's cool. Thought you'd like to read this one:
Mick Jagger and I liked to hang out at George Harrison and Pattie Boyd’s house in Weybridge, a little bungalow brightly painted in ice-cream colours, with a garden full of sunflowers. Mick loved George and I thought Pattie was stylish and beautiful, in psychedelic dresses and little skirts that showed off her wonderful legs. George would be the perfect host, serving up exotic teas, fat joints and new songs for our consumption. Mick and I were able to lie back on Moroccan cushions, get high and float away. Mick loved his songs, but George never felt that anybody really thought they were as good as John and Paul’s. — Marianne Faithfull
Thought it was interesting what she said about Mick loving George's songs and how strong his feelings were for George. I know they clubbed together a lot.

That is interesting as Mick has related the story on how George lectured Keith and Mick one night in a club about the Beatles selling more records than the Stones and John told them to essentially forgive(or ignore) George because he was still young and amazed that he was in a band that could sell a lot of records! Okay, here is Bob Dylan: “George got stuck with being the Beatle that had to fight to get songs on records because of Lennon and McCartney. Well, who wouldn’t get stuck?” “If George had had his own group and was writing his own songs back then, he’d have been probably just as big as anybody.” Read more at www.nme.com/news/music/bob-dylan-209-1344681#6Fd1Ey5HTWdFoUHF.99

George did seem to have a "love/hate" relationship with the Beatles. He would always put them down, but then come up with a quote that showed he did know they were the best. My favorite quote of his about the Stones was something like this, When it comes to the Beatles, Mick and the Stones were always a day late and a dollar short. I also liked when George, surprisingly said, I don't know if Pepper is the best album, but I like that it's in the conversation. And finally, after viewing A Hard Day's Night, he was quoted as saying, If U2 thinks they're a big and popular band, then they should sit through this shit and they can see how popular a real band can be. His put downs of the Beatles were always irksome, so it was always good to hear him say something good about the Fabs.

His put downs of the Beatles were always irksome, so it was always good to hear him say something good about the Fabs. From Anthology, George said; "We could argue amongst ourselves, but we were really, really tight." From 'All Those Years Ago' lyrics, Regarding John; "I always looked up to you." Word has it he took his copy of Free As A Bird from the studio in 1994 to a party (in Australia I think) to play it proudly to his friends weeks before it was released. I think George grew disenchanted with Beatlemania very quickly and the cost of fame on his personal life. When the Beatles first got on the radio with Love Me Do, or was it Please, Please Me hitting #1, isn't it true he was so excited he woke his parents up to turn on the radio so they could hear them on the radio? He felt by the time of Pepper he deserved more space on Beatles albums for his compositions, and he had a legitimate gripe. And how much shit did he take from Paul in the studio over the years. How do you get over not getting your own guitar solo in the middle eight section of your own song "Taxman" on Revolver when Martin and the others just got fed up with his attempts and Paul layed down the solo.

Geoff Emerick's telling of this story made me hate Emerick the moment I read his accounting of it. He was so up Paul's ass in his book.

Then he wrote his book on his Beatles years.
