In the '70s, we were always looking for free music, free shows to go see. Often that meant bluegrass in the park. I wasn't at all a big bluegrass fan but it was a free show and wasn't half bad with a good buzz.
One song I remember from back then was a song called Fox on the Run. All the bluegrass bands did it.
"She walks through the corn, leading down to the river. Her hair shown like gold in the hot morning sun. She took all the love that a poor boy could give her, and left me to die like a fox on the run. Like a fox, like a fox. Like a fox, like a fox. Like a fox on the run."
Good song!

The Millennial answer to the Bangles.... No. Totally different song! And, I'm not sure why, the Regrette's version of the Sweet song seems much more foxy.

Yeah, I knew. It's those other versions I didn't know about. I agree that it is a good song.

PART II:
Handbags and Gladrags, better known as a Rod Stewart song. It was written by the Mighty Quinn era lead singer Mike d` Abo and it's on my Manfred Mann greatest hits album. Close enough.

Here is the original version of Spirits in the Night:
I remember this version well.
Who knew it was a Manfred Mann song?
Apparently Manfred Mann did not. They recorded it a little while later with a different singer.

And finally... I'm always saying my favorite Bruce Springsteen songs are the ones done by Manfred Mann. Everyone thinks it a dig at Bruce until I explain that, no, It's Bruce's versions that I like.

And ...
... two years later, here is my pedantic contribution.
It wasn't a Manfred Mann song per se. It was written by a guy called Tony Hazard. Apparently (thanks internet) he wrote six top twenty hits in the late 60s.
Oh, and the Sweet song is a completely different song and was written by the band themselves.

You caught me.
For Demolition Man, I supposed it wasn't a Manfred Mann song since they did not write it. Yet on Fox on the Run, they get the credit without having written it. I admit to a thumb on the scale every so often.
My "No. Totally different song" was meant to be agreeing with mikev. It's obviously a different song. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to clear that up.
I like the idea of reopening some of these old threads. I'm surprised all these videos still play!

Okay. This is obviously not a "Who knew it was Manfred Mann". Does anyone know why I posted it here, other than just being a good song?
