Footage of Martin & Lewis at The Paramont in New York City with crowds of thousands of fans outside their dressing room window. Because the audience wouldn't leave the theater after their live shows to make room for a new audience, they told the fans inside to come around the side of the building where they would put on a free show, allowing a new audience in.
These are incredible, Beatlemania sized crowds!

These are incredible, Beatlemania sized crowds! Well, this a little different. They just took their show outside. Was the crowd out there before the show? Also, there are no screamers and I doubt anyone peed themselves.

I don't remember much of the Martin/Lewis partnership, but Jerry's movies were getting regular play on weekend TV when I was growing up. The Nutty Professor was a masterpiece. I liked Jerry's version much better than Eddie's version.
Jerry hardly ever had any good guests on his telethons. We watched to see him.

Martin & Lewis performed 6 shows a day for their two week run at the Paramount Theater, the same theater Sinatra, Elvis and later the Beatles performed at. Because the audience wouldn't leave to make room for the next group of fans in, they did the free show from their dressing room window to clear the theater for the next show. The girls loved Dean for his singing and good looks and the guys loved Jerry for his wackiness. Girls loved Jerry as well. They were a phenomenal team, perhaps the last great comedy team of that period of show business.

I grew up with Jerry.
I always had this image of Dean from his later years, with his drink and his swarthy swagger. That changed a little when I heard he was such an influence on Elvis. I went back to visit the old work they did as a team. I've seen a lot of the old clips of their routines. They were pretty good together.

Geez Fred for a second I thought you had an unheard of rare copy of "The Day the Clown Cried". Never knew he made this.
